Movements

Damodar floods wrought havoc in the area and Dasarathi Tah initiated the ‘Nakrah hana embankment movement’ and even published a weekly newspaper named Damodar to focus on the problems faced by the people in the area.[5] The August movement of 1942 had a great impact in the area. The post office at Khandaghosh was burnt down.[6] In 1942, the Communist Party started building its rural peasant bases under the leadership of Benoy Choudhury. Leaders in the area were Sahedullah and Panchu Guha. [7]

A dispensary was set up at Khandaghosh as early as 1804.[8]
