Finch is an open-source console-based instant messaging client, based on the libpurple library. Libpurple has support for many commonly used instant messaging protocols, allowing the user to log into various services from one application. Finch uses GLib and ncurses.^[1]

Finch supports OTR via a libpurple plugin.^[2]

In 2018 Finch grew to $9.0 million in revenue, up 36% from $6.6 million in 2017. As of 2018 Finch has 70 employees and 250 customers.^[3]
