Another styletip ...

Seasons

Seasons are in lower case (her last summer; the winter solstice; spring fever), except in personifications or in proper names for periods or events (Old Man Winter; the team had great success on the Spring Circuit). Avoid references to seasons that are ambiguous due to differences in seasons between hemispheres.

Errors introduced in edits

You made this edit for Laura Smith (blues singer) time stamped at 2:48:12 (as I see it) and then this edit to the article for Fair Lawn, New Jersey at 2:48:15, a mere three seconds later. You made a total of 18 edits in about 8 minutes, many of them seconds apart. In the nine edits that I reverted every one of them had broken links (which you would have seen in red if you had reviewed the edit) and / or changed working links to redirects and / or added stray text and / or removed flags specifically allowed by MOS:INFOBOXFLAG and / or made changes that have nothing to with the MOS:NUM / MOS:CAPS / MOS:LINK you describe in your edit summary. Regardless of the fact that you are using a script written by someone else, you are responsible for every edit you make. You cannot possibly have reviewed your edits and failed to see the errors you introduced, particularly in the form of broken links, nor is it realistically possible that you reviewed an edit in the seconds you had to do the review. Even after being told that errors were introduced, you still didn't check the revert you did to the Fair Lawn article, which will be undone again to remove the mistakes you created. Alansohn (talk) 01:55, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(WP:TPS) I'm not seeing any broken links in either of the two diffs you're linking to, nor anything else you're referring to. Could you be more specific in what's been broken in those articles? Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 02:26, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've corrected the complainant's error in the section title. Now, to start with: I can't find a thing wrong with Laura_Smith_(blues_singer) or Fair Lawn. On the contrary, they're improved. (I think by "broken links" you mean unlinked items, do you? What is the problem? Tony (talk) 02:31, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits are correct, but I have a question. When creating the page (and multiple attempts to edit), I input the "collapse" command to do so for some of the versions to unclutter the article, but the command doesn't take. Is there a reason it won't take? Xenobia4 (talk) 07:50, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Xenobia4: I'm not technically knowledgeable. You might ask at Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical) – they're usually pretty good. Tony (talk) 08:08, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

No no no: editors who have been involved in a conspiracy against me do not get to post on my talkpage. One of the other two conspirators—your friend who'd deceived me into downloading a Trojan horse to spy on and wreck my computer—broke ranks and called me to warn that my PC, already badly malfunctioning, was about to come under fatal attack. For almost a week there had been snooping into every corner of my computer. So deep was the infiltration that I had to dump the whole contents of my hard disk. Passwords had been changed, the router was infected. When I asked him whether Graham knew this was happening, he said: "yes".

Arbcom told me there wasn't enough evidence to take action. I bet they didn't even ask you. Aren't you lucky.

So don't dare assume it's ok to post here. Tony (talk) 04:33, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you get the rest of the allegedly-necessary evidence, then. If people are doing this kind of shit to other editors' systems over Wikipedia disputes, they need permanent bans.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  03:51, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It was payback for this, republished by the Foundation here. No good deed goes unpunished. Tony (talk) 03:57, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Editing User talk:Tony1 Tony Rodi (talk) 05:57, 23 May 2020 (UTC) Hi Tony I found your user page in a search for local wikipedians. I live in Ashbury. I've been having problems with unwarranted attacks (in my opinions) and deletions from some editors. I will send you my phone number to contact me if you are interested. I have been involved in the most significant cultural and historic urban developments in Australia. https://archive.is/uJtpC/b1946f8be8242e3cbfe903444ab46cb82eb85da1 Any mention of my self, by myself, have been deemed to be self promoting, or a conflict of interest. I can't see how else I can edit related pages. The developments in question include the landing site of the First Fleet on the 26th of January 1788, and East Circular Quay (Sydney Opera House Precinct). Thanks Tony Rodi Tony Rodi (talk) 05:57, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delhi

I just noticed that my recent edit to Delhi effectively reverted your scripted change. Please feel free to unlink again if necessary. Certes (talk) 12:20, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Certes – good of you to tell me. Tony (talk) 12:21, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Laura Marie, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Adult alternative (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

New quizzes

Hi Tony! To give you an update, we've now integrated a portion of your linking quiz to the tutorial at Help:Introduction to the Manual of Style/linking quiz. The discussion is at this page. I've also just built and launched a MOS quiz, which you're welcome to modify if you see things that could be improved. The remaining two quizzes I'd like to see created are a NPOV quiz (only 1 question written so far) and a RS quiz (2 questions written, rest sketched out); if it's something that'd interest you, feel free to start building them out. Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}}talk 07:12, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Great! I'll take a look at the quizzes soon. Tony (talk) 08:45, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Tony1, awesome; thanks! {{u|Sdkb}}talk 20:08, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Script problems

Hello Tony, there is a problem with one of the scripts that you used in this edit. It is changing a comment marker from <!-- to <!- – which happened to give a cite date error in this case as it happened in a |date= field. Keith D (talk) 18:18, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Keith, thanks for letting me know. I'm contacting the script manager, Ohconfucius. Tony (talk) 13:39, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, the comment pertains to publication time. It is not useful and ought to be removed. The script has been adjusted to remove such comments. -- Ohc ¡digame! 17:27, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, OC. Tony (talk) 01:30, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Name in infobox

His name is Bobo Olson, not Hawaiian (until 1959) in your version. you need to check for |name= when delinking flags. I am assuming this is an error in your script. Frietjes (talk) 17:33, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Frietjes. Pinging script manager @Ohconfucius:. Tony (talk) 00:24, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dates within refs

Hi

Can you point me to where the new guidance is to not use dates in the format 2020-26-01 please?

I noticed your scripts changed a lot of those and I wasn't aware of the guidance.

My understanding was we were to use that format within refs, so I need to re-educate myself :¬)

Thanks Chaosdruid (talk) 15:37, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is no rule that you must use ISO dates. Many (perhaps most) readers have a hard time parsing it. Just to prove the point, your "2020-26-01 is around the wrong way: there's no 26th month. If you really want them, revert my edit. Tony (talk) 01:48, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Happy...

Invitation to join the Fifteen Year Society

Dear Tony1,

I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Fifteen Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for fifteen years or more.

Best regards, Chris Troutman (talk) 13:10, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Chris. I'll take a look. Tony (talk) 14:02, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your date script could use a tuneup

Tony, in edits like this one, you change the date format but leave a year with only one of the pair of commas that it needs. Can you see about upgrading the script, or adding matching commas by hand where needed? Dicklyon (talk) 16:23, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Script problem

Hello Tony, appears to be a problem with this edit with the date script adding trailing commas to dates in cite templates. Keith D (talk) 11:21, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for alterting us, Keith. I have a feeling Ohconfucius has added the comma function after the thread above, and it's capturing false positives. I see also a double comma in that same edit. Tony (talk) 11:39, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It is also doing it on dates in other templates and in columns in tables as this edit. Keith D (talk) 11:47, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OMG, I'll have to go back through all the edits today. Thanks. Tony (talk) 11:50, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, my bad. I was in the middle of tweaking the script at the time Tony performed that edit. I believe the problem was resolved a couple of hours ago. -- Ohc ¡digame! 12:03, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've fixed up the errors, or at least the ones Keith didn't get. -- Ohc ¡digame! 13:05, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, OC! I'll check through the others tomorrow. Tony (talk) 13:10, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bassackwards?

Over here, I think you meant "uppercase" not "downcase" (or intended to leave out "-n't").  :-)  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  14:00, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Out of place comment

Tony, this comment of yours seems out of place and late. If you look at the bottom of the section you can see that I made the suggested change over 3 weeks ago. There has been no pushback. A bigger change might be helpful, but this much seemed easy. Dicklyon (talk) 21:19, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorrry: that's what comes of rushed visits to WP. Tony (talk) 00:02, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hamengkubuwono articles

Are based on unreliable sources - and as such over the last 4 months, IPs have attempted to upload text directly from Indonesian project (totally unsourced usuall) or websites my Indonesian friends assure are as reliable as cottonwool ropes when standing at the Gap in a force 10 gale. The attempts at re-instating unsourced and unverified are consistently persistent by the IP's. Inasmuch as your role/task of 'fixes' might feel good, it is likely Indonesian project members will revert to the earlier edits... JarrahTree 03:08, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the warning. I do not make fixes to "feel good". Tony (talk) 03:10, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
hahah still the same old tony after all these years - the vast array Indonesian Soccer player articles would definitely arouse more than feelings ... JarrahTree 03:12, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Love for Sale

WP:OVERLINK doesn't support delinking musical terms like singer-songwriter and rock music; these are not everyday words. Your bold edit has been reverted. You should consider discussing this out at the talk page. isento (talk) 09:27, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So you say, do you? Go and argue it at MOSLINK talk, please. Tony (talk) 09:28, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:BRD. Your edit has been contested. Cite the exact criteria under which any of the terms you delinked qualifies for delinking. isento (talk) 09:32, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
How is "rock music" any more an everyday word than "soul" or "funk"? Yet those weren't delinked. The edit makes no sense. Even Template:Infobox album advises to link any genres included. isento (talk) 09:33, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
