|ShortSummary = After training Pochama and Hinoarashi in her home in Futaba Town, Hikari decides she wants to go to Hoenn to participate in the Pokémon Contests there. She is not sure who to take with her so she stops by Professor Nanakamado's lab. However, Nanakamado needs help with a new trainer named Shinko who is not sure who she should pick as her starter Pokémon, similar to how Hikari felt when she began her journey. When the new Hikozaru and Pochama escape from the lab, Hikari agrees to help find them, with Shinko following her taking notes on the way. They eventually find that the Hikozaru and Pochama have been trapped by an Ariados. Hinoarashi saves them, but all of the other Ariados in the area attack them, including a powerful shiny Ariados that traps them with a Psychic attack. Hinoarashi suddenly evolves into Magmarashi, saving everyone from the Ariados with its powerful Eruption attack. With the new Pokémon saved, Hikari decides that she will take all of her Pokémon with her to Hoenn.

In Nibi City, Takeshi's little brother Jiro is working hard at attempting to take Takeshi's place as the city's official Gym Leader. During a match, Takeshi realizes that a Nurse Joy has been watching the entire time, introducing herself as a Pokémon League representative. Joy challenges Takeshi to a match, using his Usokkie against her Lucky, losing to Joy. With Joy unimpressed and thinking that Nibi Gym should be shut down, Jiro steps in just as Muno and Mizuho return from a vacation. That night, Takeshi goes to Joy and tells her that his brother will be taking his place as Gym Leader, and she agrees to take the challenge to see if he is worthy. In the battle, Jiro sends out his Dosidon, but Joy sends out a Latias to challenge him with, but Dosidon is still defeated. Even though Jiro has lost, Joy decides that he can now be the Nibi City Gym Leader, allowing Takeshi to pursue his career in Pokémon medicine.

Season chronology

This is a list of episodes of Pokémon: Black & White, the fourteenth season of the Pokémon animated series, covering the continuing adventures of series protagonist Ash Ketchum as he travels to the new region of Unova. In Japan, this is the first portion of the Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes! (ポケットモンスター ベストウイッシュ, Poketto Monsutā Besuto Uisshu, literally "Pocket Monsters: Best Wish") branding of the anime series. Brock and Dawn have left the series, and Ash is joined by a new female trainer named Iris and a new male trainer named Cilan. The evil syndicate Team Rocket has a part to play in this season and Jessie, James, and Meowth have been promoted.

Overview

The return of Who's that Pokémon?, an eyecatch that was used during the first six seasons.

The division between seasons of Pokémon is based on the English version openings of each episode, and may not reflect the actual production season. The English episode numbers are based on their first airing in the United States either in syndication on Cartoon Network, or in Canada on the YTV TV channel, currently owned by Shaw Media and Corus Entertainment after the acquisition of Canwest. Other English-speaking nations largely follow either this order or the Japanese order. Who's that Pokémon?, the mid-episode eyecatch, made its return in the English version for the first time since Pokémon: Advanced.

The anime series premiered in Japan on September 23, 2010.[1] The "Black & White" season debuted in the United States on February 12, 2011.[2] The first two episodes of the show had its UK premiere on CITV on February 27, 2011 and the following episodes will follow up on June 11, 2011.[3][4] The season also is broadcast on Disney XD UK, starting on September 10, 2011.[5] In Australia Black & White is broadcast on Network Ten on September 10, 2011 until 25 February 2012 later moved to Eleven on 27 February 2012 to 25 March 2012.

To promote the series and the episode where Ash obtains an egg, Pokémon Black and White players were able to obtain an egg containing either an Axew, a Pansage or a Pidove exclusively at US Toys R Us stores between April 27, 2011 and May 31, 2011. Each one contained their moves like anime counterparts (Ash's Pidove, Cilan's Pansage and Iris' Axew). Players were only able to get one egg and which of the Pokémon the egg hatched into was random.[6]

The first 12 episodes of the series was released on a 2-disc DVD set on November 20, 2012[7] with the next set of 12 episodes being released on January 22, 2013.[8] The third set of 12 episodes was released on March 19, 2013.[9] The fourth set of the last 12 episodes was released on May 14, 2013.[10]
