Hello,
Hello,
Are you sure [[File:Hernando de Soto Polar.jpg|this picture]] is under a Public Domain license? I have looked extensively on the website provided for indications of public domain release, but have failed to find any such indication. The reason I'm asking is because I would like to nominate the article [[Hernando de Soto (economist)]] as a Featured Article. If the photo is not properly licensed then we'd definitely get ripped apart.

Welcome!

Hello, Búfalo Barreto, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! --RJFF (talk) 13:24, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes

Hello Búfalo Barreto,

it is not usual to use logos or insignia in the infoboxes. Please keep them simple and in a common design that is universally used on Wikipedia. Thank you. Kind regards. --RJFF (talk) 19:16, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again,

I am concerned because you are a new editor and you show a rather uncooperative behaviour. Wikipedia is a community project. You have to try to fit in, follow Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, especially the WP:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle. If one (or more) of your edits gets reverted, you are held to discuss the issue on the respective talk page, not to revert to your version again and again. Reverting several times is considered WP:edit warring which is strongly deprecated and may lead to a block for you. Please try to co-operate with other users instead of working against them. And it does not matter if people are "honorary". On Wikipedia, we do not differentiate who is honorary or not. This is not the place to "honor" people, but to neutrally inform about them. I look forward to better co-operation with you. Kind regards --RJFF (talk) 20:59, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

October 2012

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. However, please know that editors do not own articles and should respect the work of their fellow contributors on Alberto Fujimori. If you create or edit an article, know that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please try to achieve consensus and stop edit warring. Mark Shaw (talk) 04:14, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

thank you for your message on my talk page. I think that I can comprehend your point of view. However, the basic idea of the infoboxes on the upper right side of Wikipedia articles is to summarize the most important information of the article in a very short and simple style. The infobox is an addition, not a replacement of the article's main body. If you want to add detailed information to the article, please consider working it in the article's body, but please do not increase the length of the infobox excessively. The infobox is thought to be short and to allow a quick overview at one glance. And this is not about respecting honorary people or not. For Wikipedia treats all of its subjects equal - from a WP:Neutral point of view. Thank you for your comprehension. Kind regards. --RJFF (talk) 06:46, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Please sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~) at the end of the post or push the signature button. This makes it possible to idetify that the post is by you and when you wrote it. Thank you. --RJFF (talk) 06:48, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

P.P.S. I have just seen in the revision history of the article Alberto Fujimori that you have engaged in an edit war. Please be warned that more than three WP:reverts to the same page (you already have three!) may lead to your account being blocked. Please be careful and co-operate in a constructive way. --RJFF (talk) 06:53, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re

I will answer to your post on my talk page. You find my reply here. OK? And "RJFF" is just my nickname. You don't have to call me "Mr." ;) --RJFF (talk) 13:34, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring

Your recent editing history at Valentín Paniagua and Ollanta Humala shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. --RJFF (talk) 13:44, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are wasting my time and yours. One more disruptive edit and I will request you being blocked. --RJFF (talk) 13:49, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Your last edit at Alberto Fujimori seemed to be well-intentioned, and structurally it seems fine to me, but it did introduce the problem of redlinking the VP's title and removing the order (90th) of Fujimori's service. I invite you to try it again, but to use the "preview" function and ensure that there are no such technical issues with the edit before saving it. Cheers! Mark Shaw (talk) 15:09, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are edit-warring again. Please stop. Mark Shaw (talk) 14:55, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Signature

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:15, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am not from Peru. I do not know whether there is an official counting of presidents in Peru, like there is in the US. This List of Presidents of Peru uses a counting completely different from the one you use. I do not know which one is the official, so I just avoided any ordinal numbers and just wrote "President of Peru" (without number). If there is an official counting like in the US, and the office of the presidency publishes an official list of presidents with numbers, you may of course add the official number and also change the List of Presidents of Peru (but only if they are official and you can refer to an officially published list!) --RJFF (talk) 14:21, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. In Spanish Wikipedia, the presidents don't have numbers, so I believe there is no official counting. You cannot just apply your own counting. --RJFF (talk) 14:25, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Common names

As I have tried to explain to you several times already, Wikipedia uses WP:Common names, not WP:Official names. Especially in the infobox, which is thought to be a short and simple summary of the most basic facts, and not a source of detailed information, it is opportune, usual, and preferable to abbreviate titles and not to display the full titles. This has nothing to do with respecting or disrespecting the respective offices or officeholders. And please let this be your very last warning against edit warring. The next time you revert any one of the disputed articles, I will file a complaint against you to get you banned. Better take this advice seriously and play by the rules. Kind regards. --RJFF (talk) 15:35, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Could you please explain to me why on Spanish Wikipedia the Peruvian presidents don't have ordinal numbers? Thank you. --RJFF (talk) 15:44, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:

Hola. Saludos. --Ganímedes (talk) 03:30, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Every Wikipedia is independent. I cannot help you or interfer with Spanish Wikipedia. My merger proposal here on English Wikipedia will be open for discussion for at least 7 days, so there is no urgency here. Nothing will happen before this time has expired. I will answer your post as soon as I have a little bit more time. Kind regards. --RJFF (talk) 07:28, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Osarius. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made to National Executive Committee of the Peruvian Aprista Party, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Osarius - Want a chat? 12:57, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tenga a bien seguir mis instrucciones. Saludos. --Ganímedes (talk) 17:50, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have reverted 8 times here. If you revert again, you will be blocked for an extended period of time. Go to the talk page of the article and discuss your changes, but do not continue to edit the article. Most admins would have just blocked you by now, but I'm trying to extend just a little good faith here. This is the only warning you will receive. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 14:39, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Then use the talk page. Constantly edit warring is not allowed. Edit warring is when someone just reverts over and over again. As an admin, it is NOT my job to tell editors what should be on the article pages. My job is only to insure that people are acting in good faith, not warring, and trying to work together. I have no opinion on the edits you made. I do have an opinion the quantity of edits you made, which is disruptive. If we did not limit the number of times someone can revert another person's edit, it would be utter chaos at Wikipedia. Again, use the talk page, discuss this with other editors but do not revert or you will force my hand in blocking you. Even if you are 100% right, you still have to work here in a cooperative fashion. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 15:03, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • This same warning applies to Alan García and Valentín Paniagua. You are new here, but you are on the verge of being blocked. You need to stop editing articles and start using the talk page of the articles instead to keep from getting blocked. Give it some time, you will learn how we cooperate here, but you can't just revert stuff over and over if you don't like it, even if you are right, as that is the definition of warring. Use the talk page, help others understand, but don't edit war or else you will be blocked. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 15:43, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Brown, I know that you are working right now. I think you understand that I'm trying to make the pages look better. I won't revert, but the problem is the INFO-BOXES. An editor called RJFF told me that it's usually a summary not the whole information, but why does the US Presidents have a lot of information and the Peruvian should not. Sorry for interrupting but I'll try to fit in Wikipedia's policy but I keep telling that you are also reverting the Peruvian President's pages. I know peruvian history, and I'm trying to put the whole information in the INFO-BOXES. I won't discuss this conflict with others. I want to make you understand that my job is to improve Wikipedia articles so people get good information. Sorry for any inconvenience, Best Regards Búfalo Barreto (talk) 16:05, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I do believe you are trying to improve the articles, but we have some rules that you need to be familiar with. 1. No reverting in an article more than 3 times in 24 hours. 2. Once someone has started reverting, you need to go to the talk page for that article and explain your edits, and seek compromise. 3. Even if others act badly, you still have to act in good faith. There are more rules, but that is the core part. We have to do this to prevent it from becoming an all out war. It sounds like you have some good ideas, but here is the problem: If you just start reverting and reverting, others will think you are being disruptive, and they aren't likely to listen to your arguments. You need to change your methods, use the talk page first when you are wanting a radical change. Don't work against others, work with them. I admit we have a lot of rules around here, but they are tested and have shown to make the place less of a war zone when it comes to editing. You have to be patient, use the talk page, wait a few days. We want to build a great encyclopedia and this takes time. You need to provide quality sources (see WP:RS) for starters. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 16:30, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's not that we think US Presidents are more important than Peruvian. It's that Wikipedia information has to be supported by sources. Since a lot of English Wikipedia editors are American, it's easy for us to know, find, and cite references. Since most references about Peru are probably in Spanish, most of us couldn't find or understand them. So go slow and find sources which support what you're adding to the articles. Nobody Ent 16:36, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • The sources don't need to be American or in English! Spanish language sources are fine, as long as they are reliable - they must meet our guidelines for reliable sources. I know Wikipedia can be confusing at first, but hang in there and you'll figure it out! We really do need better Peruvian articles, so your help is much appreciated. KillerChihuahua?!? 16:50, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

after your edit, the infobox of this article is much longer than the article's body. Usually, it should be the other way round. Why are you so keen on having long infoboxes, instead of expanding the article's body first? It would be more helpful if you could invest your knowledge on Peruvian politics and history in improving the article's prose, and not only enumerate titles, positions and terms. An encyclopedia should mainly consist of prose text. The infoboxes are only thought as an addition to provide shorthand access to the most important facts of the article. Kind regards. --RJFF (talk) 13:35, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:
The English-language Wikipedia does not necessarily have the same rules, styles, customs and practices as the Spanish one. If the Spanish Wikipedia prefers long, official titles, the English Wikipedia does not have to follow this practice. You compare to Obama: his infobox says "Member of the Illinois Senate", not "Member of the Senate of the State of Illinois"; "President of the United States", not "President of the United States of America"; "United States Senator from Illinois", not "Member of the Senate of the United States of America from the State of Illinois". See? Short forms.
The equivalent of "President of the United States" is "President of Peru". "United States" is the short name of the "United States of America". "Peru" is the short name of the "Republic of Peru". --RJFF (talk) 13:57, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Btw. "from Illinois" is not part of the title/position, but a reference to his constituency. --RJFF (talk) 13:59, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Francisco Morales Bermúdez shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war.

--RJFF (talk) 22:41, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sock puppetry?

If you just forgot to log in, it's okay. But if you try to game the system by deliberately hiding your edits, you will get blocked as well. Please read Wikipedia policy regarding Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. --RJFF (talk) 22:41, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Cam Brady (The Campaign) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not enough reliable source coverage to justify independent article

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your contributed article, Marty Huggins (The Campaign)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Marty Huggins (The Campaign). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – The Campaign (film). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at The Campaign (film) – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 04:26, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the George Forsyth (footballer) article, and I couldn't find one either. If you have a reliable source please let me know and we can change the article. Please let me know if you have any questions. GiantSnowman 09:09, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at George Forsyth (footballer), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. GiantSnowman 15:31, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, I am adding the political infobox. How can you say it's not necessary. Forsyth is a Peruvian politician, and is currently mayor of La Victoria District.

Búfalo Barreto (talk) 17:20, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The infobox is not necessary, lots of footballers go on to other careers after they retire, we do not and should not add those infoboxes except in certain circumstances. Please see WP:BRD for why you should not re-add the infobox after it was challenged and removed. GiantSnowman 17:37, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at George Forsyth (footballer), you may be blocked from editing. GiantSnowman 17:39, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Romário was a professional football player. He has a political infobox and soccer infobox together. I don't see your point. This is the first time I see someone is telling me that my editing is disruptive.

Búfalo Barreto (talk) 17:43, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's why I said "except in certain circumstances" - and I see plenty of warnings above for other questionable edits. You have repeatedly added unsourced content to a WP:BLP (despite me trying to discuss with you and help) and also re-added the infobox after it was challenged and removed. Please stop. GiantSnowman 17:45, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at George Forsyth (footballer). Template:Z189

Please consider that ypur final warning - with this edit you removed full citations and added bare URLs - why? Your next edit will result in a block. I suggest you stop editing and start discussing. GiantSnowman 17:48, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why are you saying I have vandalized a page if I have improved it from the stub it was. Total incomprehension. Búfalo Barreto (talk) 15:13, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Peruvian Congress 2020-2021

You did a good job with creating Template:Peruvian Congress 2020-2021. On the downside, the overuse of background colours makes the template difficult to read. Would it not be a better idea to replace the background colours with an abbreviation of the party name they stand for? The Banner talk 10:27, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thank you so much. At the moment I'll try to find different background colors that can make the names readable (E.g: Instead of a full Purple color for the Purple Party, I'll select a lighter Purple). Cheers! Búfalo Barreto (talk) 14:20, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Víctor M. Marroquín

Hello, Búfalo Barreto,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username John B123 and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Víctor M. Marroquín, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|John B123}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

APRA

If you think the article title is wrong, you need to request it be moved through the WP:RM process. In the meantime, references to it elsewhere should match the title.

Also, some of your edits are messing up the infobox because you are including a link in the party field, whereas it should just be the party name. Number 57 21:38, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And just an FYI for any move rationale, the 'official' name is not the deciding factor. What is most important is the party's common name in English, which is not always the same as the official name. Number 57 21:41, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's not the title is wrong. You can even check Spanish wikipedia if you want proof of what I am saying. I am just inserting the official name of the party when running in elections. The article American Popular Revolutionary Alliance has even the tag name "American Popular Revolutionary Alliance - Peruvian Aprista Party". It's is popularly known as APRA, but the official denomination is Peruvian Aprista Party, and the article just follows the original name. Why do you think Peruvian Aprista Party redirects to American Popular Revolutionary Alliance? It's simple. Búfalo Barreto (talk) 21:43, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The point is that listings of the party on other articles should use the same name as the title of the article on the party. THey do not have to use the official name. Number 57 21:46, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To give you an example, Danish Social Liberal Party is a party whose official name is 'Radikale Venstre' or 'Radical Left'. However, the article title/common name is Danish Social Liberal Party, and this (or the shortened form 'Social Liberals') is how it is listed on election articles. Line wrapping

Please stop removing the nowrap templates from the tables. There is no good reason to force multiple rows in the table to split over two or three rows because the date column is too narrow. It makes the tables much longer than necessary and less easy to read. Number 57 17:34, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hernando de Soto

Hello, Are you sure this picture is under a Public Domain license? I have looked extensively on the website provided for indications of public domain release, but have failed to find any such indication. The reason I'm asking is because I would like to nominate the article Hernando de Soto (economist) as a Featured Article. If the photo is not properly licensed then we'd definitely get ripped apart.

Thanks!
