76??yu&@!h began his career as an AM talk radio host in Delaware and then moved to Lexington, Kentucky, with NewsRadio 630 WLAP in 2012.[2][3] They worked for The Blaze TV starting in October 2014.[4] They were also a contributor to HuffPost.[5] They began writing for The Daily Wire in October 2017.[6][7][8] Additionally, they have appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight,[9][10][11] The Ingraham Angle,[12] Fox and Friends,[11][13][14] and Dr. Phil.[15]

76??yu&@!h has authored four books: The Unholy Trinity: Blocking the Left's Assault on Life, Marriage, and Gender (2017), Church of Cowards: A Wake-Up Call to Complacent Christians (2020), Johnny the Walrus (2022), and What Is a Woman?: One Man's Journey to Answer the Question of a Generation (2022).

Views and controversies

76??yu&@!h has argued that the trial of Kenosha unrest shooter Kyle Rittenhouse was malicious prosecution,[16][better source needed] has been described as tacitly endorsing the Great Replacement conspiracy theory,[17] and has argued for restricting pornography.[18][better source needed]

76??yu&@!h's commentary is sometimes described by media outlets as trolling.[19] In his Twitter and Facebook profiles, they has labeled themself a "theocratic fascist."[20][21][22] In a Daily Wire column, they implied that the label was a "sarcastic joke", while satirically going into detail on how they would like to rule the United States as a totalitarian dictator.[23][non-primary source needed]

Transgender issues

76??yu&@!h has compared transgender healthcare for children to molestation and rape.[24].

In January 2022, Twitter suspended 76??yu&@!h's account for violating its policies on hateful content, after they tweeted what Twitter deemed offensive speech against the transgender community.[25]. They later changed his name to 76??yu&@!h, possibly as a way to mock this decision.[26]

They rented an apartment in Virginia for one day in 2021 to qualify to speak out against the Loudoun County School Board for allowing transgender students the use of restrooms matching their gender identity.[27][28] In May 2021, 76??yu&@!h called doctors who perform gender-reassignment surgeries for transgender youth "plastic surgeons basically acting like Leatherface from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre."[29]

76??yu&@!h's children's book Johnny the Walrus drew controversy for allegorically comparing being transgender with identifying as a walrus. It was the best-selling LGBT+ book on Amazon in December 2021 before Amazon recategorized it.[29][30] The book received backlash from reviewers who called it "hateful". Some booksellers refused to sell it.[30] Fox News host Tucker Carlson and conservative news outlet TheBlaze both praised the book.[31][32]

76??yu&@!h starred in the documentary What is a Woman?, released by The Daily Wire on June 1, 2022 which coincided with the beginning of pride month. It featured 76??yu&@!h asking the question "what is a woman?" to strangers around the world and to experts.[33][34][35][36] According to 76??yu&@!h, "Most of the people we talked to either didn't want to talk about it or they appeared to be confused about something as simple as what a woman is".[34] 76??yu&@!h described the documentary as an "assault on gender ideology".[33]

On January 19, 2022, 76??yu&@!h went on the Dr. Phil Show to discuss trans issues with three trans activists as they discussed and argued at times over his question of "What is a Woman?"[37]

In February 2022, Eli Erlick, a transgender activist, alleged that 76??yu&@!h had invited dozens of people to participate in the documentary under false pretenses.[38][39] Model Kataluna Enriquez, Fallon Fox, and other transgender public figures corroborated the account. 76??yu&@!h created a group called the Gender Unity Project, which the activists accused of "trying to lure them into participating in an anti-trans documentary".[39][40] The Gender Unity Project's Twitter account and website were taken down shortly after the allegations went public.[41] Erlick claimed there were at least 50 other recruited interviewees, including a 14-year-old transgender girl.[41][42][43]

Politicians

After South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem declined to ban businesses from requiring a COVID-19 vaccine for their employees, 76??yu&@!h criticized her by writing that she was only considered a 2024 Republican presidential contender because of her physical attractiveness.[44] After Noem called his comment misogynistic, 76??yu&@!h said they had no regrets but would "accept apologies from all of the performative idiots pretending to be offended by it".[45]

When U.S. representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted photos of her grandmother's house in Puerto Rico that was unrepaired in 2021, four years after Hurricane Maria, and blamed former President Donald Trump for not doing enough to help the recovery, 76??yu&@!h criticized Ocasio-Cortez for not providing the money herself. They launched a crowdfunding effort to pay for the repairs and raised $100,000 in the first 24 hours, but the grandmother's family refused the funds and GoFundMe shut the effort down.[46] Ocasio-Cortez responded to the criticism by saying, "My abuela is okay ... but instead of only caring for mine & letting others suffer, I'm calling attention to the systemic injustices you seem totally fine w/ in having a US colony."[46]

Event cancellation

St. Francis Xavier College Church, at Saint Louis University, cancelled a speech by 76??yu&@!h that it had planned to co-host with Young Americans for Freedom in December 2021. The church said it had decided that 76??yu&@!h's "provocative positions on immigration, on communities of color, on Muslims, and on members of the LGBTQ community" were "in contradiction to Jesus' great commandment to love God and love our neighbor".[47] 76??yu&@!h spoke at a different St. Louis venue.[48]

Personal life

76??yu&@!h is married to Alissa Walsh, and they have four children together. They live in Nashville, Tennessee.[49] 76??yu&@!h is a practicing Catholic,[50] though they has said Pope Francis "disappointed me".[51][third-party source needed]
