Mirror to the Sky is the upcoming twenty-third studio album by English progressive rock band Yes. It is scheduled for release on 19 May 2023 by InsideOut Music and Sony Music.[1] It is their first studio album with Jay Schellen as the main drummer,[2] replacing Alan White following his death in 2022.

The album title was announced in early March 2023.[1]

Background

In 2021, the band, with Steve Howe (guitar, vocals), Jon Davison (vocals), Billy Sherwood (bass, vocals), Geoff Downes (keys), Alan White (drums) and Jay Schellen (additional percussion), released The Quest. Soon after finishing that album, they started work on a new album, beginning with two ideas they wanted to turn into longer pieces, which would become the title track and "Luminosity".[1]

Alan White became ill in early 2022 and died on 26 May 2022. Schellen, who had already been handling most of the band's live work, took over as the band's full-time drummer. In February 2023, he was announced as joining the band as a permanent member.[3]

The band recorded the album over 2022.[1] Paul K Joyce did orchestrations.[4]

In January 2023, Roger Dean unveiled sketches for the cover of the new album.[5]

A first single from the album, "Cut from the Stars",[6] is available from 10 March 2023.[7][8]
