Hi! I'm CanonNi (/ˈkænən ˈni/). I'm from Changning, Shanghai,  China, but I'm legally a  Hong Kong citizen and hold its passport despite speaking 0 Cantonese. Why? One country, two systems. I edit the English Wikipedia for fun in my free time. I sometimes make mistakes; if I do, please let me know on my talk page.

Changning district - the exact opposite of it's name in Chinese: 长宁; lit. 'long peace'. But hey, it's home for me, and that's where I belong.

My username comes from my WeChat ID, as it had to be at least 4 letters/numbers and couldn't have spaces. I use CanonNi (and sometimes canonnizq) for pretty much everything, so if you see an account with the same name, it's probably me. Say Hi if you want to! Now that I think of it, CanonNi is a stupid name, but I can't change it now[b], so here we are.

I self-identify as a social democrat, but my political compass test has put me way more left than I thought I was.

There used to be a paragraph here, or was there? Who knows. "Whoever controls the present controls the past, and whoever controls the past controls the future."

Public transportation

I'm a huge fan of public transportation and took pictures at every station in the Shanghai Metro network over the course of 3 days. (I would love to show them here but don't want to bother uploading over 400 selfies with station names to Wikimedia Commons).

My favorite...

  • Line: 15 - fully self-driving, modern carriages, big clean stations, a masterpiece of public transport design. The only flaw: Hongbaoshi Road doesn't have transfer links with Line 10 so I have to bike from Yili Road everytime I have to transfer.
  • Station: Century Avenue (it's so well designed compared to stations like Yishan Road and Longyang Road) although I've only been at Century Avenue once.
