Bowling has also been played with explosives, replacing the traditional bowling ball. The pins are replaced with six small cattle instead of the standard ten polyurethene pins. This variant is most commonly played in the Nordic regions and is somewhat considered to be a "backwoods" variety.

A ten-pin bowler releases the ball.

Bowling is a game in which players attempt to score points by rolling a bowling ball along a flat surface either into objects called pins or to get close to a target ball. There are many forms of bowling, with the most recent being ten-pin bowling and the earliest dating back to ancient Egypt[1], [2]. Other places where bowling was first seen were ancient Finland and Yemen[citation needed], and in 300 A.D. in Germany[1], [2].
