I've listened to the sample with a very fine headset and I am convinced the officer, which is obviously a Staffelführer (approximative squad leader) yells "Die Staffel - rechts um!". They are marching in a square, not raising weapons or anything. -Fireball [[Special:Contributions/81.6.6.89|81.6.6.89]] ([[User talk:81.6.6.89|talk]]) 07:33, 2 December 2009 (UTC) |

Petrogylph spelling
Is 'petrogylph' spelled right? google suggests 'Petroglyph' instead which brings up a game company as the first hit. I'm not realy sure, that's why this is on the talk page.
- I fixed it; thanks for pointing it out. --Zeality 20:33, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Article improvement
After a marathon of two days, I'm done. It could probably use copyediting and some help from fresh eyes, as my strategic distance is compromised from drafting it. I used Frank's contact form to ask for a pic we can use and also get his input on what two song samples we should upload. Maybe he'll stop by and edit the article; then we can use that neat little "the subject of this article has edited it" template. --Zeality 22:02, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- There's a lot of wikiprojects working to improve this article, and it seems to be working quite well (it's a nice article). They should check out the one for Jesper Kyd as well, it seems like similar subject matter. - New User 22:26, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Wow, this is incredible. The last time I checked this article, it didn't even have a picture. Excellent job! TheKillerAngel 04:02, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. It was fun making it. --Zeality 05:16, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

EBM, not Industrial
I want to argue that Frank Klepacki's style from C&C: Tiberian Dawn to Tiberian Sun were more akin to Electronic Body Music than Industrial. It is a common misperception to lump hard, aggressive sounding beat driven electronic music with the industrial label, which infact bears its roots from conceptual noise experiments of the late 70s and early 80s. I cannot say whether Frank Klepacki was influenced by industrial music, but I can say the soundtrack work he did are primarily electronic body music works. (Look at his collaboration with EBM pioneers Front 242 for the Red Alert track "Crush" as an example) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.237.224.164 (talk) 06:33, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
FA Push
I'm going to fill in all the stubs. I encourage anyone willing to help refine this article to featured status. --Zeality 21:31, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
The surname of this person is of Polish origin. Perhaps this should be mentioned in this article as well as info when his ancestors from his father's side arived in the US. See also List of Polish surnames Mieciu K 11:33, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
We want war, wake up!
Klepacki states in the commentary on the Red Alert soundtrack that he thought that the sound effect he found for 'Hell March' sounded like "We want war, wake up!" and this is appropriate for the game, but I feel it is important to point out that it is actually a German voice saying "Die waffen - legt an!" I've edited the article to reflect this. RKernan 21:20, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure why, but someone keeps removing it from the article. I've readded it in each case. Zeality 03:31, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Notable?
Is it worth noting somewhere that a few of Frank's songs contain sound clips from movies, for example: No Mercy and We Will Stop Them Now use clips of the bad guy from Bill_&_Ted's_Bogus_Journey and The track Brainfreeze uses a clip of the Brain from The_Brain_from_Planet_Arous? --Ragzouken 23:02, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sure. He's got a poster of Bill & Ted, so I think it's definitely notable. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zeality (talk • contribs) 21:52, 3 March 2007 (UTC).
He actually was contacted to work on Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
According to the president of Petroglyph Studios, Mike Legg, Frank Klepacki actually was contacted by EA to work with them on Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, but he turned it down because he was to busy with Petroglyph's projects. This should be mentioned in the article. Source: http://planetcnc.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=119520 --MrStalker 09:07, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks; I'll add it. --Zeality 19:55, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed; do it up! — Deckiller 23:39, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- No problem :D --MrStalker 08:46, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Why?
Why does some largely insignificant 'computer game composer' have a full article?
- Significance is a matter of perspective. If you feel classical topics like the Valley of the Kings or Apollo should be featured over this, then feel free to edit and improve them. Zeality 01:43, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Heh, you might want to refer to the Pokémon test and rethink that statement! Deflagro 02:06, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
He has a feature-quality article because someone felt like writing it. That's how Wikipedia works. --W.marsh 02:19, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree with the first comment: waste of editorial talent. Besides, this looks more like this guy's personal resumé than a biography.--Cuyaya 08:10, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- A waste of editorial talent? Who's to say that the editors involved in this article are at all interested in writing about other topics? Wikipedia is volunteer-based, so thus people are free to develop any article as much as they like. If they'd like to write about Frank, and bring the article up to featured level, let them. -- Zanimum 16:22, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- er, well it means that people looking at Wikipedia (I mean normal people) look at the front page and think "well this is obviously a pile of crap". Is there not some method of ensuring that 'today's featured article' is about something of general interest or importance (as they usually are)? Dr Spam (MD) 17:17, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree too. When do I get my resume posted as a featured article?
- Are you notable? If so, we'd be glad to write about you. If not, sorry. -- Zanimum 16:20, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree...this seems kind of large and fluffy for such a minor figure, although I guess if you can establish notability, you might as well make the article as good as possible. 75.68.6.81 15:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
This article is highly embarrassing. The subject writes music for computer games. In the circumstances he probably wants to keep quite a low profile. I would if I were a talentness nurd. Dr Spam (MD) 17:07, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
First off, I would HIGHLY advise a registered contibutor to Wikipedia not to call other people nerds- the hypocrisy is blatant. Secondly, the man is famous throughout the videogaming community (however small you may think it is) for his legendary music. Hell March is a very popular track. Please show a little respect! 81.109.94.62 17:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Klepacki is "largely insignificant" to the extent that the general public is largely ignorant of the video game music subculture. I think it's good that obscure subject material can make featured article status, because popular interests by definition don't need to be featured. In other words, take this as an opportunity to learn something you didn't know about, instead of demanding to read about something you already know. Ham Pastrami 21:11, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Pft
If this loser made it to the front page, I demand that Yuzo Koshiro be next.
- Sure...
- That article is mostly a list of games and has a trivia section. I doubt it'll be appearing on the Main Page any time soon. ShadowHalo 04:44, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think he's a loser at all. He seems like quite a prolific young man, but who cares? LoserTalent 12:58, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- FAs are chosen based on the quality of the writing. So long as the article meets WP:NOTE, it can be on the front page of our site. -- Zanimum 16:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Congrats
Grats, this page was once a candidate for deletion, I can see some work has gone into it since then =)! -- 203.143.210.49 04:34, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
I bet he knows
Please, please, PLEASE someone tell me that Frank Klepacki acknowledges that today that he has his Wiki article as the main page. Anyone confirm it? Caffolote 05:07, 5 June 2007 (UTC) It's been posted on the Petroglyph forums, so he probably will eventually. Geshpenst 06:54, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- He responded here. I'm very curious now - could someone with an account on that forum please ask him if he has noticed a spike in his record sales and/or Itunes downloads. Raul654 07:25, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
1980
In the infobox, it is stated that he has been active since 1980 (when he was 6 years old). What is it supposed to mean, to be active? If he composed his first works at that age, it should be mentioned in the article. Otherwise, the info doesn't make much sense. --Tone 08:07, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed it. It says he "began performing professionally by age 11", which would be 1985. Zeality or someone else who's been contributing to the article should know. ShadowHalo 10:54, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Hahaha
Well, I must congratulate Ms. Klepacki -- for, never before in our short human history, since the epoch of Celsus, has an article so demerited, so utterly fruitless, ever graced an encyclopedia.
- Um, Klepacki's a guy. Anyway, featured articles are about the quality and comprehensiveness of the writing, not the importance of the subject. ShadowHalo 12:43, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- You should also congratulate Mr. Bulbasaur! Mr? Ms? --85.216.120.57 13:53, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Shadow, I am cognizant of such and thus congratulated Ms. Klepacki on the matter. Notwithstanding its "comprehensiveness", the figure (being Ms. Klepacki) is demerited.
Frank Klepacki comments on this article
From Petroglyph Games:
Thanks everyone! It is flattering that the people involved put that much work over time into that article. I remember it's first incarnations and it's come a long way since. A friend of mine called me and was like "Dude, did you know you're on the front page of wikipedia today?" It's a great compliment, and I think it's extremely well done.
—Dark•Shikari[T] 14:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- As I said a little above on this page, I'd really appreciate it if someone could with an account on that forum could ask him if he has noticed a spike in his record sales and/or Itunes downloads -- The FA effect :) Raul654 14:49, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hehe. That's actually an interesting question. -- Zanimum 16:15, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- I notified him a day before so he'd be ready; I'll ask there if his website's bogged down or anything. Looks like the "Torchic effect" is happening somewhat on this talk page, though I'm surprised to see no comment is on the main page discussion. Zeality 18:52, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand why people are so irritated...
With this being an FA on the main page. People are calling Frank a "loser" and that he "lacks notability." He scored the music for, arguably, the most famous games in the Command & Conquer series. Those games have gone on to sell extremely well, and Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert are considered classics. His music is pretty well known among gamers. Just because you may not know him, or he in person may not be significant to the workings of every day life, does not mean this article does not deserve to be on the main page.
I remember the time when Mandy Moore was the featured article, and a couple users expressed their disgust at such. Is she well known? Yes. Is she significant to the workings of the world? That is a matter of debate. Her article is well written; that's it. Wikipedia is not supposed to have an elitist attitude in determining how worthy an FA is to put on the Mian Page.
What about film composers and such? What about other famous video game music composers? People like Nobuo Uematsu, Hans Zimmer, and John Williams may not be known to all people, but they are still very notable in their field. That is what Frank is like. He is a well known figure in video game music and such. He gets 130,000 hits on google. I think that should be sufficient. TheKillerAngel 19:03, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's partially the VG / obscure topic effect. There's usually disgust when a video game article or something else very esoteric and modern gets on the main page, and I imagine that it'd be easy to view some "lowly" video game composer working in Las Vegas as encyclopedically unimportant. But the joke's on them. If I had one worry about this article, it's that not much "negative" content exists; there haven't been any scandals or real negative criticism about Klepacki. But I guess that's to his credit. Zeality 19:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- I remember someone complaining at the Baby Gender Mentor article that "every other featured article was some video game" or other commercial product. Maybe people worry that Wikipedia will serve as inadvertent advertising. Eh. There's a diversity of articles and they get shuffled daily. Brutannica 21:27, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Pointless Article
Why is this a featured article? It is obvious that this guy, or his friends, put this article together. Dansandink 19:50, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Because it is well referenced; because it has compelling prose; because it is comprehensive; because it is supported by relevant, mostly free images; because topics do not a featured article make. I put it together, and I've never met Frank or even been in the same city as him in my entire life. He is a notable video game composer. Since detractors like to hide, I've signed your comment for you. Zeality 20:33, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- To Dan: Do you know what Command & Conquer is? TheKillerAngel 02:29, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I think Ham Pastrami summed it up pretty well: to the general public, he is unknown, but to others, he is not. It is important for us to learn new things from obscure articles. TheKillerAngel 02:46, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Wookieepedia
Just a quick note, I copied this aritcle over to Wookieepedia, per GFDL, because of Klepacki's work in Empire at War. It's almost identical, but with a couple images changed. -LtNOWIS 05:47, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Hell March drill instructor sample

Blade Runner and Red Alert
The atmospheric theme in the main menu of Red Alert features a sample which is the same of the refrain of Blade Runner Theme by Vangelis. I don't know if it is a tribute or a plagiarism, I suppose that it is a tribute/quote since Frank also worked for the ost of the videogame of Blade Runner, but could somebody who is more informed look for more infos? 87.20.179.109 (talk) 12:42, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Frank's Equipment?
Does anyone have any info about what equipment Frank uses? For example, info on that custom guitar of his? - SoulSkorpion (talk) 03:39, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
(added, from my talk page - SoulSkorpion (talk) 07:07, 29 August 2008 (UTC))
- It's a "Vengeance" from www.taggguitars.com. ZeaLitY [ DREAM - REFLECT ] 19:55, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, can we add this to the article? Also, I can't find any info on that site other than a photo of the guitar (not even the name). I suppose actually emailing Frank and asking him would be original research and wouldn't be able to be added, right? :/ - SoulSkorpion (talk) 07:07, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
