3rd viscount monckton of brenchley

Thank you for your kind intervention to remove the exploitative photo on this subject's page. This subject has suffered from Graves' Disease, which causes ocular proptosis. Various people who may be part of a paid network of wreckers who tamper with the biogs of people who disagree with global warming have repeatedly inserted an obviously offensive photo of the subject that exploits his physical disability by making a feature of the proptosis in a ludicrous way. Please refer these people - one of them is ChrisO, who has been warned before - to the arbitration committee. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.210.85.112 (talk) 02:05, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am also experiencing problems with this ChrisO fellow. I'm a new editor (well, joined 9 months ago and took a long hiatus due to work). ChrisO "went after me" based on my edits and other suggestions related to the topic above which he apparently didn't agree with, with a long multiple post diatribe insinuating I was some obsessed "right - winger" due to the timing of my posts and interest in this subject (as if his endless entries on the discussion page left any doubt who was topic-obsessed). Since then, he seems to have taken to "following" me on Wikipedia to other topics and, as was apparently done to 90.210.85.112, summarily removing my edits, for reasons that were only partially reasonable. I support his referral to the arbitration committee. Jlschlesinger (talk) 02:13, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You need an "Awards" subpage :-)

Got carried away doing 2010 userpage design ... and ran over here to your place and did some more.

NOTE: I put a table around the top items so they don't "squish." Also, sorry to twiddle more but I rescued a recent Anti-flame barnstar. You really need an "Awards" subpage — who knows what you'll get next! (Then you will have a place to put them rather than filling up your talk page).

Again, excuse my tweaking your talk page. I won't make a habit of it ... it's just a Christmas day meddling. lol Cheers. Proofreader77 (talk) 07:39, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ha ha, Proof...thanks, no worries. Off2riorob (talk) 11:09, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fine with your change, although I've added ellipses and combined the two quotes. I'm also fine with leaving out the excessive details that LastNavigator has put in and you've removed. They seem to play to the titillation factor and aren't necessary for coverage. Shsilver (talk) 01:49, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Free Roman Polanski Petition

I'm a novice user, and I missed the discussion regarding the removal of my "Free Roman Polanski" Petition, but I found the discussion pretty disheartening, filled with prejudice and bullying. It seemed a crappy way for a relevant, cited, non-biased, and historically accurate article to go down. Edgy DC (talk) 03:11, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you provide a link as I couldn't find it as the article has been deleted. Off2riorob (talk) 11:57, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't deleted, it was redirected. The article is Free Roman Polanski petition, whose history is still visible. The deletion discussion is here [2] and redirecting it was the prevailing opinion. It wasn't "non-biased" at all - it was undue weight for what amounts to an opinion poll of celebrities and which has no legal standing. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 12:44, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Mr. Tyminski

Off2riorob,

I just check the page and saw the comment trimmed. I ran the website through google's translator the website says what the posted said, exactly the way he did. Now, I don't know if the site's reliable or not, but since the statement is verified, I put it back in. If you feel like it should be pulled out again, no problem. Just giving you a heads up. Naluboutes,NalubotesAeria Gloris,Aeria Gloris 17:24, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you removed the translation with no explanation, then archived it, not sure what's up with that, but, like I said on my first post, if you want to pull it, then that's fine. To answer your question, I'm not the orginal poster of that comment. I merely translated it. I have no stake or interest in that article other than the fact that I saw it mentioned on the BLP board.

I didn't plan to add it in the artcle, just translate it, and if it was wrong, pull it out entirely. Thanks Naluboutes,NalubotesAeria Gloris,Aeria Gloris 13:26, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BLP/NPOV 2010

I believe we share a common goal with respect to that rather complex matrix of policy. Note: Twice I have seen experienced Wikipedians (at NPOVN and AN/I) say there was nowhere to get a ruling on such-and-such a thing in that complex. :-) (smiling but not joking)

Perhaps in 2010 some new paths of addressing BLP/NPOV may be discovered. I suspect I will see Off2riob on that road — whichever direction we're traveling. LoL Cheers and Happy New Year (a bit early)...

Thank You

Thank you Off2riorob for the welcome message. I appreciate the thought to send a welcoming message. I have recently moved here, United States and have had experience with other Wiki sites, so figured, jump in here at English Wikipedia. Though most wikies, in general, have the same policies and guidelines, I find that each is just a little different on what is accepted and what is not. That combined with my grammar skills, I have a tendency to cause confusion, both for me, and the people that read my posts. Thanks for understanding, and Happy New Year. 3RR warning on Roman Polanski

Warning
Warning

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly, as you are doing at Roman Polanski‎. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. --Tombaker321 (talk) 22:44, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes thanks for the detail as regards the legal issues and the Polanski retrial, I am of the opinion that a retrial would be fraught with danger and that the authorities would never risk it. It is actually a very interesting case for me in respect of the extradition request, Britain has now got an extradition with the USA but there is some kind of deal where USA guarantees not to give the death sentence as in the UK we are against that. Well, there's no reason to blank the article without creating the redirect, and it strikes me as a bad idea to trash the longstanding, properly sourced version that uses the name the subject is usually identified by in favor of a version just created by an SPA that's dominated by promotional writing and, on closer examination, isn't well-sourced. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 22:04, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've redirected the new/alternate article to the original; after checking back through the edit history, the "new" version incorporates material from text her publicists tried to insert into the original article last summer, and I suspect the alternate article comes from the publicists as well, with all the related COI, NPOV, and RS problems you'd expect. Note, for example, the edit summary and text here, especially the identical laundry list of photographers she claims to have worked with. [7]. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 22:28, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We don't need a talk page discussion to deal with sockpuppets of COI-admitting spammers. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 21:37, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well that is up to you, have you filed a sock puppet investigation or is it just an accusation and coi is an essay. Looks like a content dispute to me. Off2riorob (talk) 21:39, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Significant portions of identical text have been added by four different accounts (one an IP); the first batch of edits were made by an account claiming to be Shimizus publicist/management. WP:DUCK. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 21:52, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the content is not controversial or derogatory or potentially damaging to a living person is it. Some of it could stay and some of it could go. Off2riorob (talk) 21:55, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. However, given that there are such "rumors" (I do not in any way believe them to be rumors, but never mind) or "allegations", if you want, should they then not at least be mentioned? I never deemed wikipedia to be some type of mere "publicity index". Those "allegations" (they are reasonably accepted in Indian circles) are very serious. And keeping even any reference of wikipedia would severely skew the article. However, I could rephrase everything so that it merely reports that these "rumors" exist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by D is for... (talkcontribs) 17:59, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Something else: The phrase "Much of it at best irrelevant to the subject's profession" is incredibly racist bullshit! I bring sourced content, where you only blind revert without discussion. So keep your warnings away from my talk page. I just reproduced what's in the conf website, so it's sourced. TwoHorned (talk) 23:17, 8 January 2010 (UTC)I[reply]

Invitation

I invite you for a charming tour of my devasted country where I live, France, lunch and housing included for a few days. You'll realize by yourself the devastation in minds brought in by these people. Being specific about that is not biography violation, it's just the truth being exposed. Peace to you. TwoHorned (talk) 00:00, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious what happened to our discussion about Coach Roy Williams... I don't see some answers to my questions to you... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pepperweed (talkcontribs) 00:48, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is David Littman (historian). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Littman (historian). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the misunderstanding--I initially didn't see anything controversial about expanding on why Leavitt was fired. Check out my proposed addition ... Blueboy96 02:34, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

re: Stanislaw Tyminski living biography - discussion

So I see you decided to reinstate the discussion post based on your Google translation of an untrue and slandering text of Mrs. Tyminski that she comes from a poor province of China and she did not speak English?

You are a malicious person that does not recognize slander. Maybe your wife was poor and her English was primitive when you met her and now you judge others by the same standards.

You live no choice but escalation of this issue to higher level. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.35.228.18 (talk) 08:50, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

who says he is a human rights activist? that's the edit i made recently.--Severino (talk) 14:44, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Security reasons

Because the content was valid under BLP. There's nothing there that isn't on tons of other people's articles, nothing that would denonte a "security risk". --TheTruthiness (talk) 03:12, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's your opinion, and I say it's wrong. It was widely reporting by major news outlets- is the Tiger Woods sex scandal of any less "encyclopedic benefit"? --TheTruthiness (talk) 03:35, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Z-Chen

Hello Off2riorob. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Z-Chen, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: At one point he was signed to a label with an article; credible assertion of notability sufficient for A7. Thank you. GedUK  11:06, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Revert

OfftoRioRob,

I sent him a message and told him I was the one that did that revert, not you. I told him to bug me about it, not you. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Naluboutes,NalubotesAeria Gloris,Aeria Gloris 22:46, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Off2Rio, That sentance isn't there any more and hasn't been there for a while. I reverted you, you changed it back and I left it at that. That translation isn't there, it's already gone. Naluboutes,NalubotesAeria Gloris,Aeria Gloris 22:51, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article probation notification

Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia! In case you are not already aware, an article to which you have recently contributed, Christopher Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, is on article probation. A detailed description of the terms of article probation may be found at Wikipedia:General sanctions/Climate change probation. Also note that the terms of some article probations extend to related articles and their associated talk pages.

The above is a templated message. Please accept it as a routine friendly notice, not as a claim that there is any problem with your edits. Thank you. -- ChrisO (talk) 23:47, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
