Klein Oak High School has been named a GRAMMY Signature school twice: once in the 2001-2002 school year, and most recently for the 2006-2007 school year.[10] Its music department has been recognized over the past decades for outstanding performances in numerous competitions.

Klein Oak is home to the Strutters, a nationally-recognized dance/drill team composed of talented female dancers.

Klein Oak is an active yearly participant in the Texas French Symposium. For the past two consecutive Symposiums, the first-place sweepstakes winners of the trip to France have both been from Klein Oak (in addition to many other top-10 placers and numerous other awards in the individual academic events). In 2009, the school became the second-place sweepstakes winner, and in the 2010 Symposium the school won the first-place school sweepstakes award.

Additionally, the Klein Oak theatre department is active and under the leadership of distinguished directors and instructors. Theater students participate in One-Act UIL every year. The crew took home an award for Best Crew in 2009, and some of the Klein Oak actors took home All-Star Cast awards.
