I am hoping to get some help with an article that I submitted (that was rejected): Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Mark Cawley . I'm not sure what kind of references I need to submit to verify that Mark has written the songs mentioned in the article--should I provide a link for each song to the artist's site or some kind of discography? Thank you so much for your help. Taylormaris1 (talk) 01:08, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Taylor Sullivan[reply]

Wikipedia content should be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as newspaper articles or reviews of his work published in reputable music magazines. To establish that Cawley is notable enough for an article we need multiple such sources that devote at least a paragraph each to him. Huon (talk) 01:17, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That looks like a reliable source to me, but a single source is not enough to establish someone's notability. Huon (talk) 13:01, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How do submitted AFC articles get picked out of the queue for evaluation?

Just curious, do admin/editors look for articles you have an interest in, or do you just take the next one in order, or some other method? GS Silver (talk) 05:11, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Any and all of the above, depending on the individual reviewer's whim. Huon (talk) 13:01, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It varies by reviewer. I tend to pick the oldest when I have mental energy to do a thorough review. When I don't I look at submissions less than a day old and try to decline the "obvious declines with simple and obvious reasons for the decline" and pray for the opportunity to accept one of the very rare "obvious accept, no major cleanup needed, this guy's a natural Wikipedia editor" submissions. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 23:24, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander Putov, drawings, The Museum of Modern Art, Haifa, Janvier 1976. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Coignard (talkcontribs) 07:09, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

For all I can tell that's an exhibition catalogue authored by Putov himself and published by the museum, not a reliable third-party source. Huon (talk) 13:01, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Thank you for your willingness to help me with my first significant submission to Wikipedia. The site is such a part of my life -- I think I must visit it at least daily -- and I want to give back.

I just got notification that the article I submitted Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Clyde Vickers was rejected. The reviewer suggested that the references I provided do not adequately evidence the subject's notability.

The last thing I would want would be to submit a sub-par article, so I'm reaching out to try and get just a little more direction to help me make sure I get it right for my second submission.

The reviewer suggested that I add citations to secondary reliable sources that are entirely independent of the subject. I'm obviously mistaken, but I feel like I've done that. The 10 references included come from reputable sources like ESPN, USA Today, RedBull.com, and several regional newspapers. The only source that is at all connected to the subject is information I included that I found on the about us page of the company the subject built. I felt that the company was the best authority on the for sourcing its current size and location.

So, here's my question ...

Have I gone wrong in the types of sources I've used, or have I gone wrong in not doing a good enough job showing that the subject is notable?

I look forward to your response. Also, please feel free to include any additional information you feel might be helpful.

Bullfrogco (talk) 07:14, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vickers is something of a borderline case. There are several issues with the sources. Red Bull is not a reliable source by Wikipedia's standards, and it's certainly not an independent source on their own drivers' relatives. Similarly CV Products and the NCMA are not reliable third-party sources. Many others, including ESPN, USA Today and the 1977 Dispatch, mention Clyde Vickers only in passing, often while focusing on his son. Only the 2007 Dispatch article seems to cover Vickers in any detail, and that's too little to establish his notability. We'd need multiple sources that devote at least a paragraph each to Clyde Vickers. Huon (talk) 13:01, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Did he ever actually win a race? That might help establish notability - the old cliche that "nobody remembers who came second" applies. The Olympic Wikiproject only considers people who won medals to be "presumably" notable - people who "just make up the numbers" in teams generally don't get enough media attention to source a viable article. I'm not sure if the motor racing project(s) has similar notability criteria. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 13:42, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

re-submission

My submission Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Yuba Pass, California (landform) was initially declined because it was inadvertently blanked out. I have now edited it. Is it automatically still under consideration, or do I have to do something to resubmit it? If so, I cannot find a button to do so. Riscola54 (talk) 16:30, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Put {{subst:submit}} at the top of the page to get it back into the queue for review. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:37, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sarah,

I did read the references you supplied quite a few times. Dr. Raghunathan (from his time as the President of Vyasa Bank) has been constantly referred across various news articles across all major Indian news dailies. It has been stated that press releases are not reliable sources, however, if the person is not working for that organization any more it will be not be possible to find the information from the website, so please let us know what other sources are accepted. The reference for his being the CEO has also not been accepted, though the link is from the website of the company he is the CEO of. Please let us know what references we need to provide (the reason given for the rejection is that he is associated with the website, however, information about a CEO will be available only on the company website or news dailies. The company being a listed one the information provided will not be fabricated). The reference about him being a adjutant professor at SDA Bocconi University has also from the University website. If that is not accepted please let us know what alternate sources are we looking for. The other reference that has been provided is also from an independent company website where he is part of the advisory board, if we are not considering company websites, press releases and his own blog from a reputed Indian daily kindly let us know what are sources we need to reference. We have also gone through guidelines on the notability of people and the golden rule. I understand being an author of more than a couple of hundred publications, notable books, being a renowned academician in some of the premiere educational institutions, being a top corporate honcho, a person who have entered varied record books as part of his hobby collection makes him a notable person. If you would be kind enough to provide more detail and some guidelines & suggestions to enhance the article, we would really appreciate it.

Wikipedia content should be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as the newspaper articles you mention or articles about him in reputable magazines, or maybe peer-reviewed scholarly papers (written by others, not by himself!) discussing his academic work. If he's a member of a company's advisory board, that company is obviously not an independent source on him. Press releases are not subject to editorial oversight and thus are not considered reliable. His own blog again isn't independent. Basically, we want what independent third parties have written about him, now what he or his employers write. You may also want to have a look at Wikipedia's guideline on conflicts of interest; writing about your boss is discouraged because it's hard to remain neutral about him.
I have removed the phone number because no one from Wikipedia is going to phone you anyway and there might be spam issues. Huon (talk) 04:17, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing a Translation-Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Jean-Philippe Lenclos

My submission has been denied twice due to lack of references. I first added some citations that I had available, but the rest of the content comes directly from the French version of this page. My main goal in creating this submission was to do a translation of the French wikipedia page. But the French page lacks citations as well, all the information that I added on top of the translation has been cited. There are also a small additions that are directly from Lenclos himself because I have contact with him through his son. I'm not sure what steps to take next to make this a submittable draft for wikipedia.

Meaghan Farrell

MeggFarrell (talk) 14:27, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia requires reliable published third-party sources so our readers can verify the article's content. Wikipedia does not consider itself reliable, whether the English or the French version, and Lenclos is obviously neither a published source nor a third-party source on himself. The article says there were three published monographs on Lenclos; what do those have to say about him? They could serve as useful sources.
My suggestions would be to remove stuff that's not based on third-party sources and to instead summarize what third-party sources such as those monographs say about him, while citing those sources, of course. Huon (talk) 19:04, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

why use this project?

Hi, I'm new and a bit confused. It seems like if you wait 4 days after creating an account, and make the requisite number of edits, then you can create a new page yourself without going through this review process. Since the review process apparently takes up to two weeks, why wouldn't someone just wait the 4 days and then bypass this review process completely? Then, you could get your article up on Wikipedia more promptly. It seems like some of the articles rejected here are better quality than some of the articles already up on Wikipedia, so this process doesn't seem quite fair. Anyway, that is just the impression from this ignorant newbie. Mafh01 (talk) 18:31, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If the article made by the newbie is not up to the minimum standards it will almost certainly be deleted by the New Page Patrol process - they tend to "shoot first and don't even bother to ask questions". Going through the process here means that when it passes you know the article does meet the minimum standards so the chances of it being deleted are slim. The vast majority of poor quality articles already on Wikipedia are simply older than the review processes - Wikipedia's structures, rules and procedures have evolved over years, so standards were much lower in the early days than they are now. Take a look at WP:OTHERSTUFF for an explanation of why "But there is worse crap on Wikipedia than my draft!" is not a valid argument to allow more crap in. Why would someone knowingly and deliberately actually want to create an inferior piece of junk (that will most probably be deleted within a few days, if not sooner anway) when there is a system in place to help them create a decent article? Experienced editors who are confident that they know how to create pages that meet the standards don't generally use this system, but for newbies it is highly reccommended. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:41, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I get it. So, it's not required, but just very strongly recommended unless you are experienced. It's just that as a newbie, I got the impression that this was the way all new pages are created (because that's how Wikipedia directs you), and then as I learned more, I discovered that everyone goes through this process, so I was a bit confused.
But, my main concern was from looking at some of the articles where the reviewers seem to be nitpicking. Like, I saw one submission rejected multiple times because it didn't have 'wiki-links', and I've seen other rejected for using general references instead of inline ones. I didn't see anything in your reviewing instructions that required this sort of thing before approval, so it didn't seem quite fair. Mafh01 (talk) 19:17, 30 May 2013 (UTC) 19:17, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Could you provide links to the problematic declines? Reviewers are human too, so they can make mistakes and decline articles for invalid reasons. We'd like to correct those mistakes. Biographies of living persons, unlike most other articles, require inline citations for some claims (for all other articles they're nice to have, a convenience to our readers, and generally an improvement, but not strictly required - as Dodger67 said, you can deliberately create bad articles and sneak them by our minimum requirements, but why not expend some effort to write a better article?). Huon (talk) 20:27, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

re: Rewriting Deleted Article

Hi, my name is Katie and I'm writing in regards to an article/page that has been deleted several times. The company and article subject is GuardNOW, a security guard franchise company who is looking to create a new article/page that meets Wiki criteria. If someone could let me know what needs to be done to move forward with a new page that would be great. I understand that the main issue is promotional content and lack of 3rd party sources; writing the article from a NPOV is no problem, though any specifics or suggestions on how best to incorporate/obtain 3rd party sources would be most helpful in moving forward. Here is the link to the GuardNow Deletion Page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Zaid231

Please let me know if there's any add'l info you need and thank you for your time! KateZaid231 (talk) 00:30, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Since the article was declined repeatedly and ultimately deleted for not being neutral, that may be more of a problem than you think. However, the lack of sources is worse. Incorporating them is easy - see WP:Referencing for beginners on how to easily create nicely-formatted footnotes. Obtaining third-party sources is much more difficult, especially when multiple editors have looked for them and came up empty, as WP:Articles for deletion/GuardNOW suggests. I don't think I have any greater chances than those editors; I'd suggest that the company simply isn't notable enough for an article. Maybe write about something else? Huon (talk) 01:39, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is there anything left that I need to do to speed up approval of this article? Jelafi17 (talk) 03:57, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The draft's tone seems unduly promotional, and the content is largely not supported by the given sources, some of which (especially Book Lover Book Reviews, which looks like a personal blog to me) don't seem reliable in the first place. Huon (talk) 05:39, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We appreciate your response, however, we need your guidance in letting us know how do we reference a blog/ blogger as it will be written by the person himself and no editorial work has been undertaken on the same. Thanking you for all your feedback and guidance. Aghosh4 (talk) 05:13, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Preferably not at all. The person's own writings are primary sources and should be used only for uncontroversial details (such as the blogger's birthdate), not as the sole basis of large amounts of content. Even then Wikipedia would prefer secondary sources such as newspaper articles about him. If primary sources are necessary for some such uncontroversial detail, you'd cite them just as you'd cite secondary sources; for blog posts, by giving the author, the title and the URL. WP:Referencing for beginners will explain how to easily cite websites such as blogs. Huon (talk) 05:39, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My article: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Rural Business School seems to have been refused for a second time despite my making the changes required after the first time. With the second rejection there doesnt seem to be any explanation as to why it has been rejected. I need to know why so I can make the appropriate amendments and re-submit.

Thank you

Almacres (talk) 12:02, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually you have been advised twice to read and follow the guidance at Referencing for beginners but you have clearly not succeeded in doing so. If there is something in the guideline you do not understand feel free to ask us. The explanation for the decline is always in the grey box in the middle of the pink review template - both times the exact same reason was given. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:38, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I submitted an article for review on May 20. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/N._Anthony_(Tony)_Coles. I know there is a backlog for reviews but wonder if there is an anticipated review date? Thank you very much. Adam Silverstein (talk) 14:42, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Currently the oldest unreviewed submissions are from May 17, so yours should be reviewed within the next few days. Huon (talk) 00:49, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article is currently in the queue for review.

one small question - i would like to change the title to "Killer" Ray Allison as opposed to Ray "Killer" Allison.

How do I change that, and will it delay the review???

Please advise.

No need to change it until the draft is moved to the mainspace.--ukexpat (talk) 17:27, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You can simply change it in the text and explain it in the edit summary, then whoever does the review that approves it would see what has been done and move it to the correct title. If not it can be moved again anyway. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:59, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Carli Kapff

Early Career

Carli Kapff was born in Belvedere, Kent, and was educated at Tonbridge School after which he gained a Master’s degree in microbiology from Cardiff University. In 1984 he was the youngest person ever to be offered a postgraduate place at the London Business School, but he declined the place in order to pursue at career in music. In 1984, the London-based band, Pressure, which he'd formed with Charlie Mole, Simon Heilbron, Robin Niblett and Paul 'Tubs' Williams, and which he fronted, was offered a deal by record company, Rondor Music (now part of Universal Music Publishing) to release a single. However, shortly afterwards, the band split up.

In 1986, whilst living and performing as a solo artist in Atlanta, Georgia, Carli was asked to audition for Star Search, an early precursor of television music talent contests such as X-Factor, which was hosted by Ed McMahon, the former side-kick of Johnny Carson. and reached the semi-finals of the series, performing to an audience of over 12 million per episode.

Having returned to London in 1987, Carli set up and managed Freud, a seminal West End café-bar where regular customers included music impresario Malcolm McClaren, artist Leigh Bowery, and Anthony Fawcett - formerly personal assistant to John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The success of Freud earned Carli a ‘One To Watch’ tag from magazines including The Face, World Of Interiors and Arena, and he went on to set up and manage Freud, Oxford.

Record Label

Between 1991 and 2006, Kapff worked at PIAS Recordings, the recorded music division of PIAS Entertainment Group, a European independent artist and label services company. Initially he launched its international department from Brussels, and from 1995, managed the UK division's A&R department from their offices in Notting Hill, London. From there, he ran Laurent Garnier's label, F Communications in the UK. In 1999, he released the notable single, "Flatbeat" by Mr Oizo aka Quentin Dupieux, which was a hit in Europe reaching number one in the UK charts for three weeks between March and April, and selling over 3.5 million copies in total. The track was central to a series of Levi's jeans commercials which Dupieux also directed featuring a yellow puppet named Flat Eric nodding his head to the sound of the track whilst riding in an old car. Musically, it represented an early example of a popular track in the genre, Electro house.[1] During this period, Kapff released F Communications records by, Llorca and St. Germain aka Ludovic Navarre, as well as the compilation "Superdiscount" by another French DJ and producer, Étienne de Crécy which included tracks by other notable French acts including Air.

Also released by Kapff in the late 1990s were the debut album (EP) by Los Angeles hip-hop act Jurassic 5, the debut UK release, "Much Against Everyone's Advice" by Soulwax aka Too Many DJs. Within PIAS Recordings, he founded various label imprints including, Pan, which released deep house and techno singles and compilations such as "Sounds Like Paris" and "Sounds Like Glasgow". He also ran the UK operations of Radikal Fear, a record label owned by Chicago-born DJ and producer, Felix da Housecat, releasing tracks by Eddie Fowlkes, Glenn Underground, Boo Williams and Black Beatniks, and the sole full length album by notable house music producer, Armando, "One World, One Future" shortly before Armando's early death in 1996. Concurrently, Carli was running the 'Stone's Throw' record label for the American DJ and hip-hop producer, Peanut Butter Wolf in Europe. He also released singles from American artists, Madlib, MF Doom, J Dilla and Aloe Blacc.

In the early 2000s, Kapff ran the Electric Chair label, releasing mix albums for Manchester-based DJ producer duo, Justin Crawford aka Only Child and Luke Cowdrey, known as The Unabombers aka Electrons. He also released the first single by record producer, Calvin Harris in 2004 entitled "Let Me Know" which appears on The Unabombers' album "Electric Soul 2". He also founded label imprint, Genuine, which released several debut albums, including "Music For The Mature B-Boy" by DJ Format and "We Are Little Barrie" by Little Barry. Also released on the Genuine label were "Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly" and "Afro Strut" by Detroit-based soul-funk artist, Amp Fiddler, and an album by Peven Everett who had previously recorded vocals for the hit single, "Gabriel" by Roy Davis Jr.

Music Management

In 2006, Carli left PIAS to manage bands, including the North London-based trio, Golden Silvers, consisting of lead singer and keyboardist, Gwilym Gold, Ben Moorhouse on bass guitar, and Robden Alexis Nunez on drums. In 2008, Golden Silvers won the prestigious New Talent contest to play on The Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival, playing again at Glastonbury in 2009. Kapff helped secure a record deal for the band with XL Recordings for their debut album "True Romance" which was released in 2009.[2] Later that year they supported Blur at Hyde Park in London [3] as well as playing at Reading Festival, conducting a UK tour, and playing in Japan and the USA. In 2010, the band modelled for an American Vogue fashion shoot styled by Grace Coddington which was shot by photographer, Steven Meisel.[4] In 2010, Carli secured brand endorsement for Gwilym Gold from fashion house, Burberry, involving a worldwide advertising campaign shot by photographer, Mario Testino[5]. Kapff also secured collaboration with fashion designer, Stella McCartney, and the band played at the opening of Stella McCartney's Tokyo store,[6]

'Brands & Brands' Agency

Realising the potential to further develop brand-artist collaborations, Kapff founded a music consultancy for brands, bands and media agencies, named, Genuine.[7] Genuine held its first educational ‘brands and bands’ event[8] at PRS For Music in February 2011 in collaboration with the Music Managers Forum MMF with the aim of establishing best practice in the arena of brand sponsorship and endorsement of music.

Review pending for page on magician Adam Mada?

Hello,

A page I have created for submission on Australian magician Adam Mada is still pending review, I was wondering if I needed to resubmit it?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Adam_Mada

As you can see, the page has gone through a few iterations, and in its current version should address all of the previous mods' concerns.

Thanks,

let me know how to add te section of contentsMadhusai (talk) 08:33, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A Table of Contents is automatically created when a page has at least three separate sections - your has only one, the References section. However adding a table of Contents is the last thing you should be concerned about, as the page is now it contains just a bunch (or bunches) of names without any context or explanations. Work on the content first, worry about layout and other technicalities later. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:25, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Please consider asking this question at the Wikipedia:Reference desk. They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what the Help Desk is for). Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for an article related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps. Or you can try asking the author of the draft on their talk page. Huon (talk) 17:28, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This agency is the first bad bank in Germany which was established on initiative of the EU commission. The establishment is a result of individual management and supervision failure within a bank that used to be Germany's third largest in combination with effects of the overall financial crisis. The assets that were transferred into the EAA were acquired in major banking locations such as London and New York. What else is required to provide notability? I have provided references to articles from major news agencies such as Reuters and Financial Times. Significant coverage? Yes. Reliable sources? Yes. Independent? Yes. Could somebody provide more specific advice as to what else it takes?Lavoulte (talk) 20:27, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The articles from major news agencies should be what the draft is based on - instead your references are a press release (not a reliable source), an EU newsletter of dubious reliability and little connection to the draft's text, and a German government website that mentions EAA only in passing. While I don't doubt the bank is notable, the article does a very poor job at showing notability and summarizing what reliable third-party sources have to say about it. Hi, Someone left a comment on the above article which is waiting for review. I would like to respond but can't figure out how to do so.

Please help!

I do not understand why Blue Cooper's article will not be published. Cooper is currently a free agent for the NFL. He signed as a free agent in 2010. Erego, he was a member of the preseason team which is stated. Cooper is in all of The University of Tennessee Chattanooga's Records and as a member of the university's booster club I am inclined to inform you he is currently in the process of being inducted into the schools Hall of Fame. With this stated it is important to have Mr. Cooper's achievements accessible in a number of places including wikipedia. This will better validate his credibility. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UTCDavidson (talkcontribs) 01:31, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry but promoting Mr. Cooper's "credibility" is of absolutely no interest to Wikipedia whatsoever - please see WP:PROMO. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:01, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
For NFL Players, if they're on the team's roster during the season, they're considered notable. Simply being on the pre-season roster is not considered notable. If you could show his college career was notable, then he could be considered notable too. LionMans Account (talk) 13:44, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I want help to resubmit a deleted article named Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Plum Amazing. I want to make it more notable as how wikipedia wants. It was deleted by Nathan2055 and I want your help to make it live. I want to know which parts require to improve of my written article. Please advice.

Thanks, Arifhasan23 (talk) 15:51, 2 June 2013 (UTC) ArifHasan23[reply]

One thing you can do (let's take it one thing at a time) is to condense the lead section to contain only essential information, so that readers who read the lead will immediately know what Plum Amazing is, and why it is notable (both criteria must be met). And then you can go on and include the rest of the information in the body, dividing it into appropriate sections and not all clumped up in one paragraph. I must admit that the comments here were not as constructive as they can be, but it is understandable given the fact that there is a lot of things wrong with this submission. Please see some featured articles of companies to see the level of quality Wikipedians are looking for. Also note that the submission was not deleted, simply declined. My article was declined. I would like to raise an objection.

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Rachel Armstrong

Hello,

I created an article on Rachel Armstrong. It was declined on review by Oren Bochman. And the primary reason for his decline, as far a I can tell was; "This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability."

I believe that this reviewer made a subjective decision rather than an objective one. I compare my subject, Rachel Armstrong, with a page he created, Dvora Bochman, and I find that the notability of Rachel Armstrong appears to me to be far greater than that of Dvora Bochman.

I would like for someone to review my submission and tell me why the Dvora Bochman article is acceptable and my Rachel Armstrong article is not.

I would also like to know how I can improve the article in specifics with regard to what is currently there, and also how to resubmit the article for review to another reviewer.

Thank you. Noel Akins Nakins (talk) 18:35, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Many of the references used in your draft article do not seem to be independent - for example, material provided by her university or herself. Interviews with her are also less useful for proving notability than proper third party material that has significant coverage of her.
If you're using another article as an example to work from, it's best to use a Good Article as a model, rather than just any article. Good articles can be found at WP:GA.
After making changes, you can resubmit the article to be reviewed again by adding {{subst:submit}} to the top of it. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 19:05, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel Brusilovsky - submission rejected because of prior AfD?

why didn't this page got accepted? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Daniel_Brusilovsky

Because previous articles about the same person had serious problems an administrative block has been placed on the title - this will have to be lifted before the article can be moved - please be patient. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:21, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) It has neither been declined, or accepted and is in the queue waiting to be reviewed.
The big yellow box indicates that is still waiting review.
It's happening because we have a backlog of about 12 days at the moment and you only submitted it today. Please be patient and it will be reviewed in due course. - Happysailor (Talk) 19:02, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I cannot understand what I need to do with References: Check|url|=sceme; Missing or empty|title=; Wikilink embedded in URL title? Please give me example by References #3. Шуйская (talk) 04:20, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That would be because when you are suppose to insert the URL of your webpage, you inserted a wikilink instead. Wikipedia cannot be a source of reference in Wikipedia articles. Delete the link and either provide a different reference, or find a reliable and notable source to replace said reference. It does tell you what the errors are, please read the error messages and correct the article correspondingly. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 10:33, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Resubmitting Clicktopurchase

Hi,

I have updated the Clicktopurchase article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Clicktopurchase, adding links to more resources as requested. I'd now like to resubmit. Can you please tell me how to do this?

Many thanks, Neil.

Neil Singer (talk) 16:33, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted the previous review template and comments, please don't do that. Firstly it contains the link for resubmission and it also serves as a record of the review history, reviewers and you can see what issues have previously been raised. I have recovered the template, the resubmit link is in the template. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:58, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Neil Singer (talk) 11:13, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My submission has been rejected three times; in the first two submissions, I made and corrected rookie formatting mistakes. In the second submission, I addressed the issues of verifiable citation, but was rejected because the references I cited (Youtube videos containing proof of claim) are unacceptable by Wikipedia standards -- "banned" from Wikipedia, as I learned after the fact. In the third submission, I removed the references to Youtube videos, keeping only the CNN link, which I'm assuming is a credible source, and the submission has still been rejected. This process (however frustrating!) has served to increase my respect for Wikipedia's credibility; but the subject at hand is a real person with actual accomplishments which, as he proceeds, will receive more (and more credible) acknowledgement. I've seen stubs with much less information than I'm offering here, so I'm puzzled. Please tell me specifically what is standing in the way of his Wiki page being published. Thank you for your assistance. Respectfully, Mizzan Mizzan (talk) 19:13, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately quite a few articles exist that shouldn't; each submission must stand on its own merits. The CNN source looks like Kinney talking about himself to me; we'd need others talking (or writing) about Kinney. I don't doubt Kinney exists, but so far no reliable sources seem to cover him in any detail. Significant coverage in reliable third-party sources is required by Wikipedia to establish that he's notable (I expect you and I also are real persons with actual accomplishments, but that doesn't mean we are appropriate topics for encyclopedia articles). Review and resubmission of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Badlands Unlimited

Hi, I recently submitted an article for creation/review, titled Badlands Unlimited. It was reviewed and subsequently declined by an editor, TheOneSean.

I would like some ideas as to why the subject may not meet the notability requirements for new article creation, and any advice as to how to improve upon the article would be very welcome. I understand that the contemporary conceptual art scene may be a bit insular and unfamiliar to many, but I truly feel a profile of Badlands Unlimited is warranted, considering its recent press by notable sources, which I've included references for. If there are any editors that are more familiar with the art publishing, contemporary digital art scene, could they vouch for Badlands Unlimited? With respect to TheOneSean for his time and efforts in reviewing the article, I think the article deserves another look.

Please excuse me if my format for soliciting additional review is off; it's my first time submitting an article.

Matthewyso (talk) 20:38, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think QuantifiedElf's comment on his July 3 decline should answer your questions. Most of the book reviews mention the publisher only in passing, if at all. Huon (talk) 23:46, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Review for Lyceum of the Philippines University- Laguna

I edited my page for 4 times already. And it is declined, 3 times already. Based on the latest review on my page, it needed some independent sources. After I saw that, I searched some articles in some search engines related to my article.

I already tried my best to provide an independent source about this. Hoping you could review it now. I think it's already perfect. Would you please review my article now? Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Lyceum_of_the_Philippines_University-Laguna

Minnesotans for the WRITE Choice -- I have submitted a rewritten article, previously declined, with expanded citations. After submission of this article, I am advised it is pending review, then I am referred to original entry to make edits. Question: Do I wait for pending review of newly submitted article or should I go back and edit original, even though new article pending? Thanks very much. Razorfish721 06:26, 4 June 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Razorfish721 (talkcontribs)

You had two drafts on that page; to avoid confusion there should only be one. I removed the old draft and tidied up the new one. Wikipedia does not consider itself a reliable source; it should not be used as a reference. Links to other Wikipedia articles are only a convenience for readers who seek more detailed information on related topics. Also, of the sources available online only one mentioned the "Minnesotans for the WRITE Choice", and that only in passing. Unless the print sources provide much more detail (which I doubt), the campaign probably isn't notable enough for an article of its own, and the content should instead be used to improve our Arne Carlson and Minnesota gubernatorial election, 1990 articles, especially the latter which has very little information. [Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Thomas M. Melsheimer]

I'm writing in reference to the recent decline notice for an article I submitted about Thomas M. Melsheimer:

Submission declined on 23 May 2013 by Mrfrobinson (talk). This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of people and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. What you can do: Add citations (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners) to secondary reliable sources that are entirely independent of the subject.

I'm hoping you can help me understand why the article subject isn't notable enough to warrant a Wiki article, and what exactly can be done to make the article Wiki-worthy. The Wiki notability requirements say such articles about living people "should be "worthy of notice" – that is, "significant, interesting, or unusual enough to deserve attention or to be recorded"[1] within Wikipedia as a written account of that person's life." I've compared the Melsheimer article you reviewed (along with the independent references submitted for the article) to several of the other 2,017 Wiki articles about American lawyers, and it appears that Melsheimer has as many or more legal accomplishments, individual profile articles written about him, and individual professional recognition than many of the other lawyers who have current Wiki articles written about them. (For example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Susman; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_G._Epstein; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cesar_L._Alvarez) Save for the reference citing Melsheimer's law firm bio as the source for his current employment position and his educational history, all the references provided for the article are "secondary reliable resources that are entirely independent of the subject."

Your guidance is very appreciated.
