Would like to change the year mentioned (from 1853 to 1854) in the third paragraph to be more accurate as the year that Commodore [[Matthew C. Perry]] actually succeeded in opening Japan to the West (with the Convention of Kanagawa in 1854). Currently, the text reads "...which was only ended in 1853 when a United States fleet pressured Japan to open to the West."
