I was just wondering why my article was not approved and what I need to change in order for it to be approved? I used references in my article and believe the musician in question meets the notability requirement. I also submitted another article titled "John Gourley" that was not approved. Please let me know what I can do! Thank you! |

05:11:03, 26 June 2015 review of submission by Tabiluh
I would like to request assistance on how to improve my page so that it can be accepted. Tabiluh (talk) 05:11, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Tabiluh: Articles must be based primarily on independent, reliable, secondary sources. The draft cites only the work of the authors of the study that the draft is about. What are needed are sources independent of the study, it's authors, and their employers (e.g. not foodpsychology.cornell.edu). With academic studies that usually means other academic studies that discuss the first study. There may be usable sources in the external links section. The Los Angeles Times article, for example, might be suitable if it isn't just cribbed from the "Hey journalists, here are some stories you could write" section of foodpsychology.cornell.edu. Draft:Nicole Crespo, I have blanked my page as this article has not been accepted and I still find it on Wikipedia?
When will it be completely deleted. It did not meet wikipedia criteria and I will not be continuing its creation.
Thank youNimbus10 (talk) 14:08, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
- You haven't blanked the draft itself, Nimbus10, only Draft talk:Nicole Crespo. If you wish to have the draft itself deleted, you need to blank Draft:Nicole Crespo and then add {{db-author}} to the page. Voceditenore (talk) 14:14, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
- Also you don't really have to delete it. You can leave it here for someone else to find, in case Ms. Crespo becomes notable in the near future. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 14:30, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
violinist Violinist Draft Nicole Crespo
Thank you Jeraphine Gryphon for your guidelines throughout the editing.
But if Ms Crespo is not notable now for the fact she was the violinist invited to play at Wikipedia´s ONLY 10th Anniversary. I thought Wikipedia was important. Plus the other referenced material I provided. I do not want to damage by my editorial skills the career of a person. But I do thank you.Nimbus10 (talk) 14:50, 26 June 2015 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nimbus10 (talk • contribs) 15:01, 26 June 2015

- 205.200.229.136 (talk · contribs) (TB)
Hello! I submitted this article for consideration a couple of months ago (after already receiving some great advice from one helpful Wikipedia editor). It was declined due to its failure to meet notability guidelines -- there wasn't enough evidence that the subject of the article was sufficiently important. I went through the article again and added about 10 more citations from both mainstream and industry-specific publications, so I'm hoping this might improve its chances of being accepted. Would someone be willing to give it a second look and give me any advice on what more I could do to improve it?
Thank you in advance!

how can you publish above article without links
Kindly help me out to publish this article on wiki & please respond soon
Skybolt (talk) 07:44, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Skybolt101: Thank you for drawing our attention to articles that do not meet Wikipedia's guidelines. After studying Kaleem Shah (actor), I have nominated it for deletion. The others will be improved or deleted as volunteers have time. Wikipedia is forever a work in progress; it contains high quality and low quality content. Using the existence of poorly sourced content is never an excuse for creating additional inadequately sourced content. See the essays Other stuff exists and Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions for further explanation.
- With regard to Draft:Shakeel Hussain Khan, when writing about living persons, every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is likely to be challenged, requires a citation. The draft contains lists of movie, TV, and theater productions, but references for only one movie and one play. Moreover, the reference for the play is a news broadcast that appears to have been uploaded to YouTube without the permission of the copyright holder. Wikipedia may not link to a copyright violation. As the author of the draft, you know where you got the information in it. It's up to you to tell us by citing your sources. To the extent that non-English sources are cited, it can be helpful to provide relevant quotes from the sources at the end of each citation, ideally with a translation into English placed in square brackets [] after each quote. 13:09:55, 27 June 2015 review of submission by Kamishiro
As far as I can tell, I have followed submission guidelines, cited references, awards, etc. - everything that makes Mr. Sinnicks "notable". In fact, there is as much, or more, information backing up his career than many Musicians already listed on Wikipedia (for example, one of his "associated acts" Coyote_Shivers). There are references to him playing with some incredibly famous Canadian acts (notably, Stompin' Tom Connors) as well as his continuing recognition by his city and his peers. I have made some edits, added more references and a photo. Any other information or suggestions would be welcome. Kamishiro (talk) 13:09, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- Not done for the reasons detailed exhaustively on the draft. Worldbruce (talk) 15:36, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Why my Articles has been rejected ? I already a lot of sources ...
Muedupk (talk) 15:36, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Muedupk: Have you read the reviewer's comment on the draft (below the big pink box)? When writing about living persons, every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is likely to be challenged, requires a citation.
- There are two other major problems with the draft. First, of the draft's five sources, only the article in The Express Tribune is a reliable source. The draft needs at least one more reliable source. The four unreliable ones should be removed. Second, three of the five paragraphs in the draft are copied directly from The Express Tribune in violation of copyright. Consequently they have been removed. You may use the newspaper as a source of information, but you must write the draft in your own words. Worldbruce (talk) 16:53, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

I am just getting into editing on Wikipedia and tried to create an article on the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation at Rockefeller University, which I'm familiar with and thought would make a good entry. I had several citations, including from The New York Times, where I work, and the organization is listed in other Wikipedia entries. But twice it has been declined, saying it had insufficient references. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong? Twonalib (talk) 16:39, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

I wrote the material that is on our website, why can't I use that for the Wikipedia article? Petermccartt (talk) 22:03, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
Petermccartt (talk) 22:03, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Petermccartt: First, at the bottom of the website it says copyright 2015 Sustainable Westchester. If the copyright holder wishes to donate the material to Wikipedia, then please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for information about how to do so. Second, the purpose of the organization website and the purpose of Wikipedia are quite different. Text written to convey an organization's view of itself is generally unsuitable for verbatim use on Wikipedia.
- It's important that you declare any close connection you have with subjects you write about. I've left more information about that on your talk page. Finally, note that Wikipedia articles must be based primarily on sources independent of an organization, which the organization's website is not. Worldbruce (talk) 23:45, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

08:33:02, 29 June 2015 review of submission by Nbwoods1
A bibliographical wiki article that I recently wrote on behalf of Stefan Karlsson (professor) has been accepted by Wikipedia and is published. However, there appears a "note" from Wiki at the top of the page that reads, "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous or harmful. (June 2015)". This note appears to refer to that the article does not provide a reference for his medical degree from Iceland University from 1976, and other similar achievements prior to internet age. These facts are not citable as there are no available documents online from the university proving this. However all the grants and awards he has won over the years would have required proof of degrees etc, so through the screening of grant agencies, they are true. Not least of which the award from the Swedish Royal Academy. Moreover, given Stefan's achievements as professor and list a awards and honors, make these details from early career less significant, but does have significant value to indicate in a biographical sketch of a "notable" person. In Stefan's case, no one will challenge these statements. I also see that other biographical sites include similar statements without citation and without such a "note" from Wiki. Also his wife and two grandchildren which are also uncited details in the biography, do not object to their inclusion on the site. I have spoken to them directly to confirm. So... Can the Wiki "note" at the top of his page be removed without removing this factual text?
Thank you for your response.
Sincerely, Niels-Bjarne Woods, Ph.D., Associate Professor Vice Chair of Section for Molecular Medicine and Gene Therapy Director of Lund University's Viral Vector Core Facility Director of Lund University's ES &iPS Cell Core Facility Lund Strategic Center for Stem Cell Biology and Cell Therapy Lund University, Sweden
Hello, Nbwoods1. Although optimally every fact should be cited, usually if quite a few facts have citations and the rest are not controversial, a "needs more references" tag need not be added. However, in this case the tag is needed for a while until some referencing improvements are made in two areas:
(1) Some important facts are not supported by a reference. For example, the citation about the Tobias Prize lead to a page of general information about the prize. I fixed it by changing the URL to the list of recipients.
(2) The page contains a number of assertions of the professor's importance ("recognized as an important contributor", "led to the first gene therapy clinical trial", "recognized for significant contributions to the fields of gene therapy and hematopoietic stem cell biology " etc.) Statements like this should not be in the article unless they have a direct citation to a source not connected with the professor's own work (such as a book or review article about his field, or a write-up in a newspaper by a science journalist). Since the encyclopedia only has facts, you would have to write "recognized by ____". If such citations can't be found, this means that these are unsourced opinion, and should be rewritten as "he contributed to", or "he studied", and "he conducted a gene therapy clinical trial" and phrases which do not promote his importance, but only present facts. —Anne Delong (talk) 12:49, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Nbwoods1 I just want to add one thing to Anne Delong's excellent reply - sources do not need to be online. Journals, books, magazines and other print sources are acceptable provided they were actually published and at least one accessible copy still exists somewhere. - @Mithilsoni200: Searches returned some mentions of the subject, but only in a few blogs and tabloids, no significant coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources. Therefore at this time the subject does not appear to be a suitable topic for an encyclopedia article. It is quite amazing that in spite of mentioning so many references on Mr V Shanmuganathan, who is presently holding such a notable position of high level as the Governor of one the Indian States; yet the reviewers are finding faults and rejecting and turning down this page from being visible on Wikipedia. The intentions of rejections are not evidently coming out and it seems that in spite of multiple edits, this page of such a noteworthy Indian personality is denied on Wikipedia. In case some part of the page contains copyright material, i hereby request the eminent reviewers to guide for conducting the corrigendum and consider to accept to upload this page on Wikipedia. - I think I vaguely recall your case. It appears the article was deleted due to the fact that the information was copied from an online source, in which case it is considered a copyright infringement. As for the subject of the article, due to his position he might actually be notable according to our guidelines (i.e. WP:POLITICIAN), however we do need extensive coverage from independent and reliable sources in order to corroborate this, not to mention back up any biographical information. Please make sure the information is not copied from anywhere else, and that you provide appropriate citations if you decide to create a new draft. I would like to check on the status of my review. I most recently re-submitted my article with updated references and I added additional information to help show the subject's 'notoriety.' I would like feedback about my updates and suggestions where I can improve the article. I would like to know if there is any way I can accelerate this review process. Thank you!
10squared (talk) 17:27, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- @10squared: The draft is in the queue to be reviewed. More than 1000 other drafts are ahead of it, so you should anticipate a wait of at least three weeks. The quickest way to get an article approved through Articles for Creation is to choose a notable topic and adhere to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines when writing about it. A subject that is not notable, not encyclopedic, not reliably sourced, or is not written about from a neutral point of view will be declined. Worldbruce (talk) 01:02, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

I am trying to write a very basic entry on a company whose services I used and a few friends of mine used. I realize the first time it was too much like an advertisement so I tried to make it more matter of fact. What do I need to do further to get it published? Thank you.
Wuenschp (talk) 02:20, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Wuenschp: Please review WP:ORG, which is the guideline for articles about companies and organizations. You need to include citations to significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article. Wikipedia articles, because anyone can edit them, are not reliable sources and should not be used as citaitons (you can create a wikilink instead to link to other articles). --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 17:49, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Wuenschp and Ahecht:, I've published your article to Cryo-Cell International. Note that the earlier draft had some promotional language bragging about their ratings, and also had some cited material that just talked about cord blood in general, not about the company, so I removed all those. I added in some cited material about their work, and also found they'd been the subject of some serious media/academia coverage of lawsuits against them, so I added that. I encourage the submitter, and anyone else who's reading this, to keep an eye on that new article for a bit to ensure that nobody affiliated with the company tries to slip in and remove the negative bits, because they have enough coverage that they meet Notability and definitely need to be in the article for balance. - @Lynn R. McGee: Please read the comments in the pink and grey box at the top of Draft:Antonio Pérez (educator). You need to cite significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article. Please tell me that how to i crete that articles.... Please I Love Wikipedia,,, I Love Wikipedians User beacaue u re Great...
- Hello @Chacharaliraza:, you should absolutely not be writing an article about yourself; see WP:Autobiography for why this is a bad idea. You should also not be writing an article about a direct family member, since it's impossible to be WP:Neutral about family. And lastly, your article about your father does not provide any evidence for him meeting WP:Notability, such as news articles about him, discussion of him in books, etc. Papers by him don't count as references, and generally per WP:Notability (politicians), being a local-level politician does not qualify one for an article.
- I strongly suggest that instead you pick a different subject to write about, and/or focus on helping to improve existing Wikipedia articles about topics you're interested in. If you need help deciding what you want to help Wikipedia with, I suggest you visit WP:Teahouse and tell them just a little about yourself and your interests, and they may have some good advice on how you can help Wikipedia. M2E is the solution that powers dozens of thousands retailers (inc. SME's!!) allowing them to sell on multi channels at no cost. It has been awarded “best UK product 2012” (link is in the article) and has been sponsored and promoted by eBay Inc (link in the article, YouTube video). Uniqueness of this company is that it facilitates over 1 500 000 000 USD of GMV a year and cost ZERO to businesses !! If you require references, these can be provided at very high level at eBay Inc.
Also please Google for keywords “ Magento eBay ”, “ Magento Amazon ” & “ Magento Rakuten ” to see how popular this product is among FREE and GENUINE search results.

- Hi Walking High Point - Wikipedia has no influence at all on how or when Google do whatever they do. It can take several days for Google to index new Wikipedia articles, but it's really not our concern. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:01, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
18:50:38, 4 July 2015 review of submission by Mexico76
Mexico76 (talk) 18:50, 4 July 2015 (UTC) Hi. I was wondering why Allmusic.com and Discogs are considered nonvalid sources. I referred to several band pages from Wikipedia to create this page and they seem to be the standard sources. Other than sending in the physical materials (i.e., albums, pictures, magazine articles, radio concerts/plays, television show inclusions, etc.) how else can one prove the information is correct? I would also like to know what is the criteria for inclusion. Many bands are included with the same -- or even less -- type of information from these sources, and yet they remain on Wikipedia. Please advise. The submission was for a band called Teardrain. If it would be better to have Wikipedia create the page themselves, please let me know.
- @Mexico76: Discogs is not reliable because it is user-generated. Whether Allmusic is reliable or not is more nuanced. You can read past discussions about it here. If you were writing about the album Speak No Evil and needed a reference for the fact that all of the pieces on it were written by Wayne Shorter, either of the following citations would be fine:
- "Speak No Evil - Wayne Shorter". AllMusic.
- Blumenthal, Bob (1999). Speak No Evil (CD booklet). Hollywood, California: Blue Note. p. 3.
- Online sources are easier to verify, but offline liner notes, magazine articles, TV programs, and yes, even books, are perfectly acceptable. No need to send anything anywhere.
- The inclusion criteria for musicians are complex. Be certain in your own mind which criterion or criteria a band satisfies, and make it clear in the article lead. Most bands do not warrent a stand alone encyclopedia article. Wikipedia is forever a work in progress. It contains high quality content and low quality content. The existence of articles that don't follow the guidelines is not an excuse to create more articles like that. See the essays Other stuff exists and Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions for further explanation. It's natural to learn by example, but be sure you're learning from excellent examples, like Wikipedia's featured articles about music. Worldbruce (talk) 17:51, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Request on 12:12:26, 6 July 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Mattyp783
I submitted an article, Israelife, for review and it was initially rejected because there were not enough sources. I made the requested changes; however, the reviewer left a messaging saying they were no longer reviewing articles. I need someone to review and approve the page.
Mattyp783 (talk) 12:12, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Mattyp783: You and 1,300 others. The draft is in the queue and you can expect another review in a month or so. From a quick glance, the draft is a bit of a train wreck, so I suggest you use that time to more thoroughly familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's guidelines and improve the draft accordingly. We can provide more detailed and personalized assistance and guidance when we review it, but the closer to perfect you can get it on your own, the better. Worldbruce (talk) 21:11, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for offering up your professional Wiki assistance! I am with CBRNE Tech Index and we are trying to start up our Wiki page with limited secondary sources available. Since we are a fairly new organization, not even a year yet, it has been hard to meet the strict notability guidelines. I am looking for any additional suggestions on how to pass our page review, as many editors have not been welcoming nor happy to assist me, they simply "speedy delete". It has been a pretty disappointing experience so far and I'm hoping it goes better from here on out. Thank you again for your help! -Emma
Eballard1214 (talk) 13:03, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Eballard1214: You are likely to find your welcome distinctly cool and the experience disappointing for as long as you write about something to which you have a close connection. Being closely connected, you may not be able to see that you're putting your interests ahead of Wikipedia's, or you may think they're congruent. You seem to believe it would be a good thing if the world knew more about CBRNE Tech Index. Maybe it would, but that is not Wikipedia's purpose, indeed it is the exact opposite. Wikipedia's function is to document those things that the world at large has already taken significant notice of. The fact that you are a new organization and are having a difficult time meeting the notability guidelines should strongly suggest to you that the organization shouldn't have an article on Wikipedia (most organizations don't, and shouldn't). Please read WP:BFAQ#COMPANY. I recommend that you set the draft aside and concentrate on the business of the organization. Come back in a year or two and, if the organization has become notable, odds are someone will have written a fine article about it. Worldbruce (talk) 21:59, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

I need your help. I am attempting to create a page that summarizes the DoD's Transition Assistance Program for Service members leaving the military (Draft:Transition Assistance Program) and am using information (that I wrote) from a government website (DoDtap.mil). This material is not copyrighted (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_status_of_work_by_the_U.S._government).
However, my article was declined because it is substantially similar to information on this page: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/naval-base-kitsap-transition-gps/92/90b/860 ... the problem is, the information on that page was taken from my source material. In effect, they copied-and-pasted the same non-copyrighted material that I'm referencing. Does this make their stolen information copyrighted?
Bottom line: I rewrote the content on my draft wikipedia page and hope that this solves the issue. But I'm honestly concerned that either I'm missing something or there is a misunderstanding of where my information came from. Thank you.

I submitted an article for review and it was initially rejected by @MatthewVanitas: because the reference was not valid. I made the requested change. But the second reviewer Sulfurboy rejected it again saying "Fails for the same reasons given by MatthewVanitas". I am not sure what more changes I need to do as I have already done the changes MatthewVanitas asked for. Please help me to create this page about Börs Anders Öhman as his name is already in the list of bagpipe makers of Wikipedia and he deserves to have a page dedicated to him in Wikipedia since he is one of the well known makers of Swedish bagpipe and a great musician.

Thanks for the review but which content or text of this draft you think is having material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations and you think it needs to cite sources using footnotes?? If you mention then I will be grateful. Last reviewer 'Primefac' left a note YouTube is not considered a reliable source and I removed that.

I translated this article from fr:George Wickham (a BA - French Good Article), and did some additional research from reliable sources. It has been declined twice for 'reading like an essay', and I don't think this is appropriate, because the article uses the opinions of experts for its commentary. When I have shown the draft in the IRC channel, people have been fairly positive about its appropriateness for the English Wikipedia. Where can I go from here?
110.20.234.69 (talk) 06:02, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- I broadly agree with your summary, and I have therefore Accepted the Draft... it seems someone was planning to do this a month ago but never did. I have confirmed that the translation is suitably acknowledged in the edit history. Anyone concerned about an essay-like tone can improve the tone or indeed take it to Articles for Deletion if necessary. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:47, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

- It would be best to wait until your Draft is accepted, and then upload the logo to the English Wikipedia as a non-free image file for use on the article about the product only. Wikipedia:Logos gives more information on this. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:39, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
