Henry Hugglemonster is an Irish-British animated television series produced by Brown Bag Films. It is based on the best selling book I'm a Happy Hugglewug written and illustrated by Niamh Sharkey.[1] The series premiered on Disney Junior channels in the United Kingdom and Ireland on February 8, 2013 and in the United States on April 15.[2][3]

Premise

The series revolves around the daily life of Henry Hugglemonster and his slightly chaotic but loving family, living in the suburban town of Roarsville. Everyone in Roarsville is a friendly, fun-loving monster. Henry's experiences with his family often lead to problems, so Henry must use his problem-solving skills to try and find a way to solve the problems and conflicts he is presented with in his daily life. Every episode features one or more original song.

Common Sense Media stated that many of the episodes include "basic preschool skills like counting and sequences".[4]

Hugglemonster family

  • Henry Hugglemonster (Lara Jill Miller in the US and Teresa Gallagher in the UK) - A 5-year-old monster whose horns resemble those of a jester's cap. He never backs down from a problem, because he believes he and his family can "always find a way."   • Beckett Hugglemonster (voiced by a dog) - The Hugglemonster family's pet monster dog. He is a boy.[9]
  • Harry Hugglemonster - Henry's four armed cousin. It is not clear which of his parents is a sibling of one of Henry's.
  • Dexter Hugglemonster - Harry's father.
  • Dee Hugglemonster - Harry's mother.

  • Denzel Dugglemonster (Cree Summer) - Henry's best friend who has a passion for digging underground tunnels. His catchphrase is "Grr-ocious!".
  • Herold Dugglemonster (Rob Paulsen) - Denzel's father who works as a baker.
  • Maude Dugglemonster - Denzel's mother.
  • Grammo Dugglemonster (Cree Summer) - Denzel's grandmonster.

  • Milo Growlerstein (Hynden Walch) - Gertie's little brother that likes to play with his toys. He is also Henry's friend.
  • Gregor Growlerstein - Gertie's father that had a few jobs that he worked in.
  • Joyce Growlerstein - Gertie and Milo's mother.[11] Only seen a couple times in the show.
  • Sneezo Growlerstein - the Growlerstein's female pet monster bird. She is allergic to monsterflowers.[12]

Enormomonster family

  • Estelle Enormomonster (Grey DeLisle) - Henry's large friend, energetic and optimistic. She's a gentle giant, being at least 3 times as tall as Henry. She also knows how to play the harp.
  • Eduardo Enormomonster (Brian Blessed) - Estelle's father. He serves as assistant scoutmaster to Daddo.
  • Ernestine Enormomonster (Brenda Blethyn) - Estelle's mother.
  • Hugo Enormonster - Estelle's baby brother.
  • Flopster Enormomonster - Estelle's pet monster dog.

Snifflemonster family

  • Roberto Snifflemonster (Grey Delisle) - Henry's friend who has a slight Spanish accent.
  • Oscar Snifflemonster (Cree Summer) - Henry's friend, and Cobby's best friend.
