Personal life

@C.Fred: That's a good section for some facts still missing here such as her activism against "self harm". But this is a BLP, and I could add more than one self-published video, where she stated that she shared too much of her personal life.
The CFS fact is the proverbial tip of the iceberg, there are also self-published videos about other health issues (plural), about the locations + meanings + timestamps of tattoos, and about lots of other personal facts on and on repeating right down to cup sizes, where I think that enwiki could wait for reliable+relevant 3rd party sources instead of self-published videos or CelebMix stories.
Presumably folks with similar issues will be delighted if they find somebody talking publicly about it, so this should be still good (for them). OTOH somewhere is a line where "good for them" and "bad for her" could get into a violent conflict, and a BLP isn't the place to fight it out. –84.46.53.242 (talk) 17:05, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Presumably some folks interested in this BLP wonder why deleting an Instagram account and a Twitter account with 750K followers is not yet noted here.^[1] The reddit statement is a primary reference, arguably unsuited here until some WP:42 source confirms the fact without discussing the "unencylopedic" five years old YouTube drama related to this reaction now. The problem with Wikipedia is that, besides being open to anyone, it encourages fans to write paratext. That perverse incentive results in sub-optimal policy-violating content. My recommendation is to stick to what The Guardian publishes. If Emma were that important, real journalists (rather than Redditors) would have written about her. Sanity check, there are 9…12 uses of journal.transformativeworks.org on enwiki, the article doesn't mention WP:42, WP:BLP, or any other enwiki rule, the journal isn't listed on WP:RS/P, it's not known in the WP:RS/Noticeboard archives, also not as TWC, and the TWC page doesn't have Transformative Works and Culture. The article doesn't mention Wikia a.k.a. I tend to unlink red links with only one incoming link as on Special:WhatLinksHere/Villains (Emma Blackery album), but for this convoluted (but correct) name that would be unfair. @96.48.148.177: If you need help with creating a Draft:Villains (Emma Blackery album) holler, it's no rocket science, I've tested the procedure elsewhere. What are your sources? The songs I left in the singles section were all either uploaded to iTunes/Bandcamp at one point as singles or were launched as singles by Emma alongside official music videos. The discography was originally filled with full tracklists of EPs as if they were all released individually as singles. Commons OVERcat

I've sorted the cats from well-known to utter dubious, see above for the removed feminism category until somebody finds a source better than a deleted podcast or similar.^[11] It's the same mess as on Sasha Grey, where I have so far removed 8 cats without getting any answer to why they were added, mixing completely unrelated concepts including location, religion, gender, sexual preferences, and former job.

Fortunately the zealots have not yet discovered Blackery, we are not forced to produce Christian or Atheist out of thin air—I'd consider both as insult, libel, and in conflict with BLP policies—unless there are some solid sources, plural. Actually I could guess what the "correct" cat would be, and could also find the video, where she stated that this belongs to the topics she does not discuss in public.

The (now) first eight categories are simple, 1991, living, Basildon, Musician+Essex, female record producer (Emma, that's Kate, say "hi"), wellness writer, female blogger, and FWIW Revelmode. The "female blogger" is based on December 2018, there is no "female blogger" on Yoko Ono, I killed this stupid cat here: The gender is perfectly irrelevant for blogs in the 2010s, otherwise please show me the "male blogger" category, and the enwiki-manual for transgender blogger categories with wikilinks to a verifiable community consensus.

Without female blogger the female YouTuber could make sense; as of 2011, when it maybe was not yet perfectly normal. Please show me the "male YouTuber" category while at it, again with a verifiable enwiki-community consensus about transgender YouTuber etc. BTW, do we have any source for "female", e.g., how sure are we that she is no younger brother of the Kenyan Obama?

With female YouTuber "in" for whatever reason I'm not sure about English YouTuber, how often do categories repeat the same info female, British, women, English, … in absolutely no predictable way? I get that English is sharper than British, if asked I could sing c:COM:REDCAT, above all avoid loops was a part of my UseNet/FidoNet religion, and graph theory is the one topic in math/CS I never forgot.

That's already three YouTuber categories, Revelmode+female+English. The "comedy" is not state of the art, I removed it on probation, same idea as former "adult"/"porn" on Sasha Grey. Ditto English video blogger, the article says "has not posted since May 2018" about vloggery. Learned something new, WP:BLPCAT and WP:DUPCAT. Villains Tracklist

I just finished up a quick grammar pass and noticed that the formatting for the Villains tracklist looks more than a bit messy. It may just be my browser, so could one of you chime in and confirm? I'm extremely new to this whole editing thing, so I'd admittedly need to leave that fix to someone more experienced. However, while I'm writing about it, is that tracklist notable enough to include in the first place? NinjaPenguinDan (talk) 04:41, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

That was my bad idea for two reasons: (1) Somebody suggested a page for the album, cf. #Villains, and that page would need a track list. (2) The singles actually list all tracks of the EPs, because I never figured out what was "really" a single, or "only" a music video showing up in the "Emma Blackery topic" or EmmaBlackeryVEVO channels on YouTube.
For the Villains LP it's clearer, and it would be odd to exclude the 11-4=7 tracks from the LP, but list almost everything else (some early demos and royalty free tracks are not mentioned at all, Blackery deleted her bandcamp account in one of her irregular history clean-up exercises ;) I've replaced 12em (4 columns for me) by 15em (3 columns for me), does that change anything for you, and is it better? –84.46.53.175 (talk) 06:05, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

I suppose I would have found your first point about Villans had I read through the rest of the talk page in more detail, so we'll just say 'lesson learned' and leave it at that. Thanks for not slapping me down harshly. I'm still not entirely sold on its necessity in this particular article, but as a newbie, I'd probably best not debate it further until I have a good bit more familiarity with the style guidelines. As for your formatting adjustment, that does look neater, so thanks for the effort. However, I glanced at a few other album-related articles and found a guide at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Album_article_style_advice#Track_listing, and after some examination it just doesn't seem to match stylistically. A simple numbered list without columns would work, though aesthetically I'd prefer the {{Track listing}} template that they list. That's purely a matter of personal preference, though, so take it with a grain of salt. Yes, I do realize that this article isn't strictly within the scope of WikiProject Albums, but I'd wager this specific usage falls close enough that we can follow their style manual. @NinjaPenguinDan: The "quick proofread" consisted of two tweaks, one minor (see edit history), one major (the tours in the lede should somehow indicate "at least three" with Busted first and Villains so far last). Merged channels

Unless YouTube tries to drive only me mad the "EmmaBlackeryVEVO", "Emma Blackery - Topic", and "Vloggery" channels are now parts of the "EmmaBlackery" channel, i.e., there's no (un)subscribe button on these channels, and all videos when played claim to belong to "EmmaBlackery". The inactive "TheseSilentSeas", "boxes of foxes", and "emmaforthewin" are not affected.

The unofficial "Emma Blackery - Music" backup channel by a 3rd party is of course also not affected. In a sample of two playlists 20 music + 143 other videos still exist (incl. one private v=mP-plngOj4k that's still private, i.e., unplayable.) Quoting style

Whatever style is used, it has to be consistent for the text parts. At the moment italics for album titles (incl. EPs) and newspapers are undisputed. Ordinary US ASCII double quotes for literal quotes and a few other cases, e.g., "Song of the Year", were also undisputed.
For song titles the article had left and right single quotes as in ‘Cute Without You’ for some time, now degenerated into apostrophes as in 'Cute Without You'. A meanwhile removed head-note and a still visible example stated that this should be double quotes as in "Go the Distance". However, that clashes with the use of double quotes for quotes. Possible solutions:

1. "Go the Distance", double quotes in italics. This tends to be messy like all italics, browsers still don't grok that italics require more space at the end, unless the next character is a comma / period / etc.
2. ‘Go the Distance’ as it was, disadvantage, it only works with copy + paste, or for folks knowing ‘/’ by heart, and the existing bot replacing these constructs by ‘ + ’.
3. “Go the Distance” That's the same idea with “/”.

Overall, the article is written in simple and clear English - this is fine. My other thoughts however..

• What does "experimented with paid promotion" mean? Same goes for CC-BY licence (don't assume the reader knows what it is)
• Make sure you link to/explain briefly an EP. Not everyone knows that it stands for "Extended Play"

• I understand it doesn't need to be a long biography - but readers may want to know, perhaps, about her artistry, influence on the public, channel demographics etc.
