Revision as of 14:20, 7 May 2020

Welcome to my talk page. This operates as a normal talk page: you write a message, I reply. After a while I tend to delete items that have been dealt with, such as notices, complaints and old issues. I do tend to keep nice things around for much longer, so keep that in mind!

Barnstars and other nice words

A barnstar for you!

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks. Paul Couvrette's article is teaching me about how to be a Wikipedia contributor without going out of bounds. Your edits and the steps you've taken have helped a lot.

Thanks for creating the Artists' stubs

I'm enjoying finding links within Wikipedia to your stub articles and adding bits of info where I can from other sources. But I was really delighted to find the portrait of Loretta Hines Howard, which was already on Wikimedia Commons. I'm glad you posted on the Women in Red Talk page and drew my attention to your efforts. It's fun contributing in collaboration.Oronsay (talk) 02:54, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree one hundred percent! And I thank you sincerely for your efforts. (PS: yes, Loretta Hines Howard is really interesting. there is lots of material there.) ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:02, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A quilt for you!

For your contributions to the impromptu virtual editathon to get the quilters of Gee's Bend on Wikipedia. Thank you!

Hey, thanks! It was very pleasant working with the impromptu team (Pinging @Ser Amantio di Nicolao:) on this! Thank you as well for your excellent contribs.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 15:00, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Virginia Overton

On 26 April 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Virginia Overton, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that an original work by artist Virginia Overton was used as a prize at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Virginia Overton. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Virginia Overton), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Precious

women artists

Thank you for quality articles about women who create art, such as Virginia Overton and Kader Attia, for beginning many more, also from your hometown Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, for expanding articles such as Geneviève Cadieux, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

@Gerda Arendt: Thank you! I did not realize until now that you had added me to the Precious list! I am so honoured.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 23:42, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A kitten for you!

Thank you for the welcome cookies

Thank you for the welcome! I hosted my first Wikipedia Edit-a-thon with my art history students last week and am busy editing and adding too. Thank you for the encouragement. And by the look of your bio page, I would love to touch base with you next year when we set out to edit again, because it is a Women and Gender class and it looks like you have started some great stubs that we could work on growing. Thanks again! Eccaldwell (talk) 17:11, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Eccaldwell: yes, welcome! We can use as many art historians as we can get! Let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything. You might aloso want to join the Wikiproject Women in Red. The talk page of the project has lots of good discussion. The stubs on women artists that I started are just a hobby: feel free to give any of them to your students to expand, no appointment required. Welcome aboard.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 23:40, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merci Beaucoup

An okra in bloom from New Orleans for all of your help. I still feel like I'm getting my wiki-sea legs, but I couldn't do any of it without your assistance. Bgourgeot (talk) 16:13, 27 June 2019 (UTC) bgourgeot[reply]

My pleasure! Let me know if you need help with anything. That last article was good! You will be a wiki-pro in no time. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:29, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for A Line Made by Walking

On 10 January 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article A Line Made by Walking, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the sculpture A Line Made by Walking proposed that the simple act of walking could be an art form? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/A Line Made by Walking. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, A Line Made by Walking), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Thank you for all of your efforts to rescue and greatly improve the KT article! LorriBrown (talk) 19:47, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I think it was the right outcome. Now, I would suggest that all family members of KT leave it to mature naturally. There are lots of other articles to edit! ThatMontrealIP (talk) 23:15, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

IP Indent

Hey I changed it by one because we posted about the same time and yours came in after mine so I was putting them in order sorry about that. GalendaliaChat Me Up 03:45, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Galendalia: indents are not related to time, they are related to the reply level. We were both replying to the same question, so the indent should be the same. I might suggest that you should not be replying to quesitons in the Teahouse until you have more experience. There is a minimum requirement of 500 mainspace edits, which you do not meet. It looks like you will be a great editor, but you've only been around for less than a month. It takes a long time to learn all the ins and outs of Wikipedia, so take it slow.
