This article is worthy of inclusion based on the remoteness of the location and its architectural value, not to mention the relics that are stored in the church monastery.

09:15:07, 17 August 2020 review of draft by Aethelyon

Hello, I am working on a new post. This is the first time I have worked on a person. I linked to several news articles, but the feedback was that they were not credible. Can you help me understand what is a good source and what is a bad source? Thank you!

Aethelyon (talk) 09:15, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

At its most basic, the reliability of a source can fall under a three-prong test: (1) Is the source independent of the subject or their surrogates/underlings/family members/business? (2) Does the source discuss the subject in some depth? (3) Does the source have an editor-in-chief or equivalent position that is responsible for fact-checking what they publish and issuing retractions if needed? LinkedIn fails all three prongs; YouTube is generally useless for other reasons, CrunchBase fails prong 2 (as it's a database). In terms of companies, we also don't generally accept routine business news as a viable source - with "routine" meaning merger announcements, acquisitions, funding, real estate pickups, etc. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Hasteur Hasteur Ha-- oh.... 19:46, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

10:24:44, 17 August 2020 review of submission by RawnakS

The links provided in the reference tab are legit and they have no problem and they are all accessible. Still this sraft has been declined many times even though I provided many more links. So I would be very grateful if you give me tips on improving the page. Thank you very much for your time

RawnakS (talk) 10:24, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RawnakS, You have created multiple versions of this draft and moved them to main article space ill advisedly. You have been told that his own writings are unlikely to qualify as references. Let me try to explain. If they manufactured vacuum cleaners, the cleaners would be their work. A vacuum cleaner could not be a reference for them, simply because it is the product they make. So it is with research, writings, etc. However, a review of their work by others tends to be a review of them and their methods, so is a reference, as is a peer reviewed paper a reference for their work. You may find WP:ACADEME of some use in seeing how Wikipedia and Academe differ hugely
Here is your tip:
For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, and is in WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact cited, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the person is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today. Fiddle Faddle 10:27, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
RawnakS, I looked at your talk page. That is identical with the hints and tips I gave you when I declined one version of this draft. Is there anything that you find difficult to understand and that you would like explained further? Fiddle Faddle 10:30, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your cooperation. As you know I am new to wikipedia. For the reason I could not understand the referencing system. But now I understand and I will try my best to avoid anything like this in the future. Once again Thank you and sorry for the trouble I have given you. Also it would be very helpful if you could tell me which references I gave were acceptable. Thank you once again-RawnakS

13:07:11, 17 August 2020 review of draft by Davetheirishguy

good morning, my submission at Articles for creation: RELEX Solutions (August 14) was declined, The reason left by 2pou was:

This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

I am having difficulty determining if this specific submission was declined because it need to be written from a neutral point of view or the references do not comprise of enough of a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Which is it, or is it both? Thank you!

Davetheirishguy (talk) 13:07, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Davetheirishguy Your draft just tells about this company, and is sourced to press-release type articles, routine business transaction announcements, or brief mentions. Wikipedia articles must do more, they must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. 331dot (talk) 14:45, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

19:47:42, 17 August 2020 review of submission by Edetroit

I am requesting a re-review of the article I am submitting on Benny and the Jets Band from Detroit, Michigan. My initial submission was rejected for lack of notability. I take that to mean there was not enough significant information on the subject I was submitting. I have much detailed information that I can submit, with reference links, in addition to the initial biographical information you already have. I am submitting much more detailed information on Benny and the Jets Band below. I believe this additional content will warrant the band's inclusion in the esteemed ranks of WIkipedia. Thank you for your consideration. Best, Eric Harabadian, Edetroit Edetroit (talk) 19:47, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Benny and the Jets Band is a member of the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame: http://www.michiganrockandrolllegends.com/mrrl-hall-of-fame/231-benny-the-jets . Benny and the Jets toured coast to coast in the U.S. and Canada, including appearances at Cobo Arena in Detroit, The Kingdome in Seattle, Bonaventure Arena in Montreal, Park West Theatre in Chicago, Las Vegas Hilton and Las Vegas Convention Center. Benny and the Jets have opened for Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon, Bo Diddley, Chubby Checker, The Coasters, The Drifters, The Platters, Eddie Money, Eddie Rabbit, Ted Nugent, Steppenwolf, Humble Pie, Badfinger, Herman's Hermits, Paul Revere and the Raiders. When the U.S. Post Office released the Bill Haley and the Comets Rock and Roll Stamp they hired Benny and the Jets to perform the song "Rock Around the Clock" at the unveiling. Benny and the Jets were featured in the documentary "Nothin' but Music" http://www.facebook.com/nothinbutmusicmovie . The documentary features several scenes filmed at the historic Michigan Palace Theatre which was owned by band leader Benny Jet's father Dr. Leo Speer. The Michigan Palace Theatre in Detroit, Michigan helped launch the careers of KISS, Aerosmith, Bob Seger, Bachman Turner Overdrive and Bruce Springsteen.

None of that suggests that they are notable.See WP:NBAND for criteria. Theroadislong (talk) 19:58, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to request help moving my draft to article space, because I have complied with all the guidelines, answered and addressed all questions, and I believe my topic has met all requirements set by Wikipedia. My draft is a stub and will be improved by me if further improvements need to be made. I will also be including more relevant references and sources should they be available in the future. I have disclosed that I am a paid contributor by Sirom Group, and I was hoping to get paid soon once I successfully move Draft:Francis Baraan IV to Article Space. And I hope my fellow editors here would help out. I nominate myself as admin for this Page, and will nominate anybody willing to share the adminship of this Page as long as they would help improve and defend the keeping of this Page.

I urge anyone to please come take a look at my work, review it favorably, and move it to Article Space. Thank you so much.

MediaManager1 (talk) 08:42, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MediaManager1 I've answered you on my talk page. It is not advisable to do what you are asking. Also, articles (not mere "pages") do not have designated administrators or monitors. You are certainly free to monitor any article you create, but you can't designate yourself as having any more rights to it than any other user. The term "administrator" also means that one has certain tools at their disposal, tools which the general public does not have, so you shouldn't use this term unless you are indeed an administrator. 331dot (talk) 08:45, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please could you review the draft Adeeb Ahamed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Adeeb_Ahamed It has been in the draft for over 3 months.  Have tried to make changes to the article by adding sources and citations. The draft is vastly different from the deleted article. Many more credible sources have been added. Also there was a spelling mistake in the name of the article and person in the article due to which the sources available were not seen by the reviewers and administrators when searched.

The admin who handled my new article submission -- Draft:Pairwise vote counting -- said that a "split request" was needed, so I wrote on the appropriate talk page -- at Condorcet method -- a split request: [1]

There has been no response so I'm asking if I should be making the split request differently. If so, where or how do I make that request?

In the "old days" I created articles and split articles directly, but the rules have changed since then. Back then I could create the new page and then edit the page that has a bit of overlapping content, and point to the new page. But under the new rules I can't edit the existing page until the new page has been moved from draft status to online status, and that request was denied.

My draft of Centerstone has been rejected. Trying to find out if it needs to be deleted before I can try again or what next steps I should take? It had originally started as a decent article with numerous external sources and has become kind of a mess in trying to make edits for multiple different reviewers. Any help is much appreciated! Thank you. Rlambert327 (talk) 18:22, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rlambert327, I suggest you ignore the current draft, even consider asking for it tobe deleted, because it will distract you.
In a new sub page such as User:Rlambert327/Centerstone draft 2 before actually creating any prose gather together references that meet these criteria:
We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, and in WP:RS please. See WP:42. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.
Be very critical.
Now select facts from those references and marshal them into a storyboard. Once you have a storyboard you can start to draft the new article. Use only facts that can be cited, and cite as you go.
Your new draft ought to be radically different from the one you have now forgotten all about and, if you have chosen your references wisely, be easily acceptable.
If you cannot find good references don'tt even start to write the new draft Fiddle Faddle 21:25, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

20:27:18, 18 August 2020 review of submission by Kiaroskuro

Hi there... my submission for Suhaila Salimpour was rejected, with the reasoning that the sources weren't reliable and independent.

I've included in my submission for Suhaila Salimpour respected and reliable publications in the field of dance (such as InDance and Habibi Magazine) as well as academic sources and public television, and an internationally-distributed commercial documentary (American Bellydancer), which also has a wikipedia page, and in which she was a main subject. I'm not exactly sure what would make this article MORE reliable.

There are other artists in her field with far fewer sources and existing Wikipedia pages, for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoe_Jakes and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Brice (and both Zoe and Rachel studied dance with Suhaila Salimpour, arguably making Suhaila MORE notable than Zoe and Rachel.) In addition, on this page, Suhaila is cited twice as being a major influence: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribal_Fusion

Suhaila is a respected artist and instructor in her field, and because dance--particularly belly dance--is so often an oral/bodily tradition, it is overlooked by more mainstream written outlets. To require more seems inequitable.

Please advise.

Just curious why my page was rejected. Thank you Orathi (Bobby) Srinivasan (talk) 01:54, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orathi (Bobby) Srinivasan It was rejected because it is sourced to nothing but press releases, which are not independent sources because they are usually just reprinted from what the person wants to say about themselves. Any article must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the subject, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person(in this case).
Please note that autobiographical articles, while not forbidden, are strongly discouraged on Wikipedia, as people naturally write favorably about themselves. In order for you to succeed in writing about yourself(which is a rare thing on Wikipedia), you need to forget everything you know about yourself and only write based on the content of independent sources. 331dot (talk) 09:23, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Bored History Kid A subject merits a Wikipedia article if it has significant coverage in published independent reliable sources that have a reputation of fact checking and editorial control. 22:15:59, 20 August 2020 review of submission by KNivarthy

Hello. This draft has been revised to reflect the general notability of the subject. The subject is notable because of her extensive experience in tax policy law, as displayed by her experience developing legislation on Capitol Hill, working in top consulting positions in numerous prominent firms, and her ongoing work in establishing and serving on high-level positions in several notable non-profits. The coverage of the subject has also been revised to focus on her noteworthy career as opposed to her candidacy.

Furthermore, the sources have been edited to reflect a neutral point of view, in that they are reliable and independent of the subject. The sources have extensive coverage of the subject’s career and notable work, and the subject is widely mentioned among several prominent sources.

I implore you to publish this draft, as it provides an important addition to Wikipedia and is a satisfactory summary of the subject’s career and work.

KNivarthy (talk) 22:15, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The draft has been rejected, meaning it will not be considered further. The sources you have added do not establish general notability; and as a politician she would only merit an article if she wins her election. The only reason for the vast majority of sources is that she is running for office. Many of the other sources are press release type stories or merely citing that what she has done in her life, and are not significant coverage. If she wins, a fresh draft will probably need to be written. 331dot (talk) 08:23, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:KNivarthy - You posted a similar request on my talk page. I rejected the resubmission of the draft for two reasons. First, Wikipedia very seldom accepts drafts of biographies of candidates for office who have not been elected. We have found that such drafts are almost always non-neutral, and are focused on using Wikipedia to publicize the campaign. Second, the draft was resubmitted with very little change since it was last submitted and declined. Resubmitting a draft with very little change after it has been declined is a waste of the time both of the author and of the reviewer. Robert McClenon (talk) 14:31, 21 August 2020 (UTC) reply[reply]

Request for Review

Dear Reviewer,

I would like to bring to your notice that the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Adeeb_Ahamed was deleted using deletion review was because due to a spelling mistake in the article name the reviewers were not able to access any of the sources. Hi Robert McClenon ,

Thank you for reconsideration. I made a spelling mistake in the initial article and hence it caused the article to be deleted in deletion review.

Sorry for providing too many references. I am not an experienced editor. Hope you will forgive my ignorance. Thank again for your time. (Kuruvillac (talk) 16:09, 21 August 2020 (UTC))[reply]

User:Kuruvillac - You say that the article was deleted in deletion review because you made a spelling mistake. Do you mean an error in spelling the subject's name using the Latin alphabet? If so, we are aware that his name is written in English either as Adeeb Ahmed or Adeeb Ahamed. I don't think that will change the result. Also, you say that the article was deleted in deletion review. You probably mean that it was deleted in a deletion discussion. That is not the same as a Deletion Review. I see no indication that there was a deletion review. You might consider requesting a deletion review, which is a different proceeding, but only if you can provide a stronger argument than you have provided here.

Robert McClenon (talk) 23:32, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Robert McClenon ,

The two cases I would like to bring to your attention are

1. The current draft of Adeeb Ahamed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Adeeb_Ahamed is vastly different from the earlier deleted article in article for deletion process.

2. Secondly article for deletion discussion was faulty due to a mistake I made. I created the earlier article in the name Adeeb Ahmed where as his actual name is Adeeb Ahamed. Since the name Adeeb Ahmed does not throw up an sources it was deleted during deletion discussion. If the correct name was used instead it would have give numerous independent sources to establish notability as Mr Adeeb Ahamed is among the top 5 industrialists in India and humbly suggest that notability should never have been in question. Thank you for responding and reconsidering. (Kuruvillac (talk) 08:24, 22 August 2020 (UTC))[reply]

@FARNSWORTH9999: this needs reliable sources that are independent of the subject (i.e. no intervies or press releases) and have some coverage of the subject (not yust passing mentions). Victor Schmidt (talk) 07:13, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I took out any references that touched on my neutrality as an author. There is lots of reliable independent reference in the piece so it should stand now. Davidbonbright (talk) 14:01, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DavidbonbrightThere are actually zero reliable sources in the draft. Where do you think they are? Theroadislong (talk) 14:05, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I think the submission references do show qualification for a Wikipedia Article. They show significant coverage in independent and reliable source and are independent of the subject (Phonographic Performance Limited is a separate entity and whilst VLP is mention on their website, it is not a VPL website. Now cited, House of Lords, Companies House, Bloomberg, Academic article...Certainly think this is worthy of a Page. DJ888kmg (talk) 16:48, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not seeing any in-depth coverage in independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 19:42, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

17:48:35, 21 August 2020 review of submission by TheNobleBug

I am attempting to create Draft:Charlotte_Football_Club to redirect to Charlotte_FC; however, even with a source from Charlotte FC's official website, it was declined. I have now added a second source from MLS's website. TheNobleBug (talk) 17:48, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TheNobleBug it was declined because AFC is not concerned with redirects. Please just go ahead and create it, redirects are not subject to review at AFC. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:54, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I will move it to mainspace for you, and remove the unnecessary references. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:03, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Dodger67, is there a better way to make redirects without submitting AfCs? TheNobleBug (talk) 19:14, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Made changes to the page to not seem like advertisement, though that's what it came across as. Fernandesrohit (talk) 19:26, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Still reads like blatant advertising with no independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 19:45, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

21:00:59, 21 August 2020 review of draft by Ireneangelico

Hi Wikipedia,

As you suggested, I have deleted the IMDb references and replaced them all with newspaper and journal references instead.

My article Irene Lilienheim Angelico was written by the academic, journalist, and film reviewer Maurie Alioff. He knows us because he has reviewed a couple of our films over the years. He also did the article about Abbey Jack Neidik. When he was finished , he asked me to provide a lot of the references, because many are old and I have copies in our physical archives and on our website. i did this and submitted the articles. I realize after reading your guideline more carefully, that this was a mistake and I should have sent it back to Maurie Alioff to contribute himself. Can I still do that now?

Thanks and be well,

Irene Lilinheim Angelico ```` Ireneangelico (talk) 21:00, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It reads exactly like an autobiography full of hagiography “ prestigious”, “winner of numerous international award”, “ international critical acclaim and many awards”, “highly regarded film”, “write award-winning series”, “endorsed by Nobel Peace Prize Laureates”, “created uniquely for” etc. Theroadislong (talk) 09:27, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with fixing references and material related to reference

08:28:58, 22 August 2020 review of draft by MediaManager1

Hi. I need help with references. Should the material be exactly relevant to the source used? I changed some of the unreliable source by editing the text/facts to match ghe source reference. Is that how it is supposed to be? Thanks

09:16:23, 22 August 2020 review of submission by Psyzone222

Psyzone222 (talk) 09:16, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Psyzone222 Sorry, but Wikipedia is not a place for musicians to promote their careers or for people to write about themselves. Please review the autobiography policy. As a musician, you would only merit a Wikipedia article if you receive significant coverage in independent reliable sources showing how you meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable musician. If you do, you shouldn't be the one to write such an article. Someone who takes note of your career will eventually choose to write about you. 331dot (talk) 09:23, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You do not ask a question, but what you wrote is a very long way from a Wikipedia article. A Wikipedia article must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen to say about a subject, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability. You offer no sources at all and no content beyond telling what the subject does. Please see Your First Article for more information. 331dot (talk) 09:44, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Syedmehmood11 (talk) 09:36, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why its rejected?

Syedmehmood11 Your draft was rejected because you do not offer anything beyond telling that the company exists. Wikipedia articles must do more than merely tell that the subjects exists. An article must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a subject, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability; in this case, the definition of a notable company. Please read Your First Article for more information. If you work for this company, you need to review conflict of interest and paid editing and make the required declarations(the latter is a Terms of Use requirement if you are a company representative). 331dot (talk) 09:41, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please help me to make it able to publish Syedmehmood11 (talk) 10:59, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Syedmehmood11 The draft will not be considered further. You must make the declarations required by the paid editing and conflict of interest policies now. 331dot (talk) 11:01, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
