DYK for Hughie Miller

On 6 June 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Hughie Miller, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that despite being sick and ordered to return to the rear, Hughie Miller fought on the front lines in the Battle of Belleau Wood and single-handedly captured two German soldiers? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hughie Miller. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Hughie Miller), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

My mistake

My mistake. I'm new to editing Wikipedia and did not realize that I was violating a rule when repeatedly reposting the Apportionment edit. Additionally, I did not realize Daily Kos was considered an unreliable source.

I generally agree that Daily Kos should be considered a concerning or unreliable source. In the article I'm mentioning, though, the proportion results are created using Census data and simple math. Additionally, I think the information is relevant to understanding the makeup of the Senate. There are similar edits to many of the US House of Representatives Wiki pages. I'll start a discussion on the 2020 election page about that.

Thanks for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WhatANiceDog (talkcontribs) 12:20, June 8, 2021 (UTC)

WhatANiceDog, thank you for starting a discussion. Everything on this site works through WP:CONSENSUS. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:56, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An unusual reason for deletion?

In this edit I somehow think you may not mean "criterion for speedy deletion Bbb23". 🤔 You may like to correct it. ✔ 😏 JBW (talk) 10:55, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JBW, the script does make that error by default, I missed correcting it that time. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:25, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
How odd. Do you know who is responsible for the script? Can they be asked to correct it? (I have never used that script, and know nothing about it at all.) JBW (talk)

Technical news

  • Wikimedia previously used the IRC network Freenode. However, due to changes over who controlled the network with reports of a forceful takeover by several ex-staff members, the Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts decided to move to the new Libera Chat network. It has been reported that Wikimedia related channels on Freenode have been forcibly taken over if they pointed members to Libera. There is a migration guide and Wikimedia discussions about this.

SMALLFONT

Hi, I noticed you removed the small tags at Template:Infobox national football team per WP:SMALLFONT. The current fifa ranking, however, still uses smallfont due to it being linked to Template:FIFA World Rankings. Could you please fix it there as well? Nehme1499 23:23, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nehme1499, I may need help with that. It seems that Template:FIFA World Rankings invokes Module:SportsRankings, which uses a different sort of code. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:46, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I figured it out. Thanks for pointing it out to me. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:51, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ITN recognition for John M. Patterson

On 10 June 2021, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article John M. Patterson, which you nominated and updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. PFHLai (talk) 02:16, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Muboshgu,

I wanted to ask you a question. In this post, I told editor Mrjohnaytedvx that he could overcome an AFD deletion decision about Gehad Hamdy by writing a draft and submitting it to AFC for approval. So, that's what he did. But it was deleted as the recreation of an article deleted in an AFD decision even though it was in Draft space. So, they have come to REFUND to ask for the restoration of the draft.

At first, I declined because of the AFD decision and then I realized that they had taken my advice to work on an article in Draft space so I removed my denial. I'm not a regular reviewer of restoration requests so I wanted to get your perspective on this request. Liz Read! Talk! 23:53, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Liz, WP:G4 says that draftspace is an exception, so that should have been kosher. Seems that the issue may be moot, however. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:25, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think the language about drafts in WP:G4 is a little ambiguous. I've sure seen admins deleting drafts tagged CSD G4 before but, as I'm sure you know, admins can differ in how they interpret Wikipedia policies and guidelines. I've also run into different takes (strict and not-so-strict) on CSD G5s, too. Thanks for offering your perspective on this. Liz Read! Talk! 01:09, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Liz, it's that "explicit improvement" and not "circumventing" deletion part that is open to interpretation. They may be trying to circumvent deletion, or may legitimately try to improve it. I try to default on AGF when possible. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:57, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sports cards

Originally the Beckett price guides were used for sources however the prices were excluded precisely for the reason that Wikipedia is not a catalog and therefore met the requirements. That project was not actually finished. Unfortunately I was unavailable to reply to the proposed deletions when they were posted. Libro0 (talk) 18:48, 12 June 2021 (UTC) Upon further review of the Wikipedia definition of catalog, it is clear the deleted articles do not constitute a catalog for the purchase of items. The articles still require other sections like ‘references in popular culture’. It would be greatly appreciated if the articles could be restored. In future please use the articles discussion page and wait for a response instead of delete since some of us users do not have the opportunity to frequent here as often as others. Thank you. Libro0 (talk) 19:00, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok so I’m going to try again here to get some feedback or you can direct me to someone who can be of assistance. Clearly a generation later and ideas have changed. Notability is lost on people now. Expansion is possible on these projects which is why I would like to take them elsewhere. However I do not have them saved anywhere. Any thoughts would be immensely appreciated. Concern regarding Draft:Lulu Seikaly

Information icon Hello, Muboshgu. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Lulu Seikaly, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Draft space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for article space.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion under CSD G13. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it. You may request userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available here.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 15:01, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Joshua Fuentes

I respectfully think you should revert your move of this page. He's said he's going to use Joshua from now on, and that's how he's listed on MLB and bbref, among others. I would've started an RM since I don't want to wheelwar, but I think it's a pretty obvious case of WP:NAMECHANGES. Nohomersryan (talk) 03:07, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nohomersryan, hadn't seen that prior to the move. Josh still seems to be the most prevalent, but there are some routine articles that have come up using Joshua. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:49, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Eric Filia

On 14 June 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Eric Filia, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that baseball player Eric Filia worked as a butler at the Playboy Mansion while he was suspended by the University of California, Los Angeles? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Eric Filia. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Eric Filia), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. A cup of coffee for you!

You're gonna need this if you write up more baseball. Drmies (talk) 18:47, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Drmies:, aren't you going to need the coffee to stay awake long enough to finish reading them? ;) – Muboshgu (talk) 19:03, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's all you. Hey, did you see we got over 37,000 hits on that cluster of lynching articles? Thanks again for your help there. Drmies (talk) 20:20, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Drmies, I had not seen that. Congrats! – Muboshgu (talk) 22:14, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On the Warning Concerning the Michelle Lujan Grisham Change

How is the change considered vandalism? It needed a more accurate title. That is why I changed the title to "Sexual Assault Allegations" instead of "Legal issues." Please tell me what I did wrong and because what I added was a good contribution making a title to be more of an accurate title for the section of the article — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fekj (talkcontribs) 15:11, June 15, 2021 (UTC)

Fekj, I struck the warning from your talk page. I misread something, my mistake. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:13, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fake News and POV

If you believe in truth, why did you delete: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Impi_Linux&action=edit&redlink=1

For one: Your delete is fake. This casts doubt on your character and if you are even one human person or an intelligence group sharing this identity?

http://www.brainstormmag.co.za/technology/8437-microsoft-opens-mouth-inserts-foot

https://salinux.co.za/impi-linux/

You are choosing to create your own truth and force your point of view, which is fine, but then at least be honest with yourself or yourselves: You are simply low life scumbags posing as ethical, truthful and legit person or people.

You suck. So, now go ahead and delete my POV. :)

This post, not being here, proves my point — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spamid (talkcontribs) 02:35, June 16, 2021 (UTC)

@Spamid:, no, I'll keep your WP:PERSONALATTACK against me here for the record. Why did I delete the article? Because it was proposed for deletion without objection. Your comments about "truth" and "point of view" are otherwise nonsensical. If you make personal attacks again, you may be blocked from editing. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:13, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know...

I'm not familiar with the details of Did you know... procedures: if I want to propose an alternate hook, do I just add it below the existing alternate, or do I add it at the bottom of the comments? isaacl (talk) 23:47, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Isaacl, yup. Knock yourself out. Just be sure to put ALT2, ALT3, etc. in front of any that you propose. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:51, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We should add the info on spider tack to the article... Did you know that pitchers are cheating in baseball with a glue used by strongmen to hold Atlas balls? isaacl (talk) 23:58, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Isaacl, it's not in the article? It needs to be. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:59, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've added it and the alternate hook to match. isaacl (talk) 01:03, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Isaacl, great, thanks! – Muboshgu (talk) 01:19, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

I remember in the past you admonished me to talk to you privately about issues before taking them to ANI and such. Following your advice, I wanted to tell you that I'm gravely concerned with your recent policy violation, and would encourage you to correct your behavior.
