Suggestion: mention fraud in the opening sentence

Currently, a google search results for "Samuel Bankman Fried" include an "About" sidebar, sourced from Wikipedia, which includes the opening sentence from this Wikipedia article ("Samuel Benjamin Bankman-Fried, also known by the initials SBF, is an American entrepreneur and investor.") and a few biographical facts (dob, parents, education). This is misleading, because this portrays SBF as, well, an American entrepreneur and investor, with no mention of the charges he is facing and the (alleged) fraud he has perpetuated.

I think it would be more accurate if the opening line were clear about the nature of SBF's work.

For example, the sidebar I see when googling "Bernie Madoff" is unambiguously the point: "Bernard Lawrence Madoff was an American fraudster and financier who was the mastermind of the largest Ponzi scheme in history, worth about $64.8 billion. He was at one time chairman of the Nasdaq stock exchange"

Of course, unlike Bernie Madoff, so far, SBF was only charged with fraud, so his opening line would, of course, look different, perhaps something along the lines of "Samuel Benjamin Bankman-Fried, also known by the initials SBF, is an American entrepreneur and investor, indicted on multiple criminal fraud charges."

In summary, I would propose that the opening line is more explicit of the current state of SBF's accomplishments, so fewer people are misled. What do folks think about this?

I am happy to think / propose the phrasing for this, and propose / submit the change, if that helps.

I guess there's something to be said for "innocent until proven guilty" and we should be careful to adhere to WP:BLP, but at the same time, surely almost everyone who's heard of SBF knows about the fraud charges - it seems to be a fairly core part of his reputation. At least the 'Central description' of the page is "American scammer and conman" (although maybe that's going a bit far). Tumnal (talk) 16:54, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lede sentence will have to be changed depending on outcome of trial (to "convicted" if he is convicted). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris319 (talkcontribs) 12:30, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan Salame, former CEO of FTX Digital Markets

I just put Ryan Salame into article space. Any help with expansion and integration would be appreciated. Currently, he is not mentioned in any of the FTX related articles. Best, Thriley (talk) 17:02, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed this too and added a sentence on Ryan in the main FTX article. Thanks for giving me something to link to! Tumnal (talk) 14:01, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In depth

Looks like a nice in depth source in fortune: "How Sam Bankman-Fried’s parents enabled his criminal empire", but I dont have a paid access. Jtbobwaysf (talk) 06:49, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For consistency within the article, bankruptsy -> bankruptcy at last paragraph of Sam Bankman-Fried#Bankruptcy of FTX and Sam Bankman-Fried#Attempts to recoup donations. 57.140.16.45 (talk) 22:34, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
