Photos

[edit]

PLEASE send an actual photo from the festival, not just random Tulips :P Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 03:20, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added several -- Eric B ( TCW ) 04:21, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great work. You can upload free content directly to Wikimedia Commons. Jkelly 05:19, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, will get to that when I'm not at work. Good to know about Commons though! -- Eric B ( TCW ) 09:49, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Limit amount of photos per section

[edit]

There is obviously a plethora of photos that are taken during the festival. Perhaps we should limit the number per specific area. Say, 8 for Dow's lake (since this is the major of concentration) and four per other sections? Paulshannon 22:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly I don't really mind. But keep in mind, this article isn't that big, and having more pictures can help to fill the article up a little. -- Eric B ( TCW ) 10:41, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree with Paulshannon, I'd strongly suggest even further cuts, of a maximum of two images per section. Let's remember the poor people still on 56k, or worse, 28k. Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 13:40, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hahah, that's right, my photos (which are roughly 3mbs each in size) would be a killer on people on dialup. -- Eric B ( TCW ) 13:44, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Civic Hospital Maternity Ward

[edit]

"The maternity ward was declared to be officially a temporary part of the Netherlands, so that the birth could formally be claimed to have occurred on Dutch territory." So does that mean any other kids born there at that time would be Dutch as well? Or was it just limited to one room? More info!

From what I remember (visiting my cousin last September and seeing the plaque) it says that it was temporarily part of Netherlands for the birth. -- Eric B ( TCW ) 00:51, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Outdoor Concerts Cancelled

[edit]

It's probably worth mentioning that outdoor concerts will be cancelled for 2007. I can't find a free source that mentions this. Hexcowboy 14:03, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done. Canadiana 03:14, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Tulip Festival (Ottawa)Canadian Tulip Festival — The festival has had this name since it began 55 years ago, as far as I know. See the official web site. It appears that the article ended up where it is today during a small redirect war among articles about several tulip festivals, each vying to be THE Tulip Festival. Although local people may refer to the Canadian Tulip Festival generically as "the tulip festival" I can see no good reason why the article should be called Tulip Festival (Ottawa) which requires a piped link almost always. —Canadiana 03:14, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I should also say that the current name is awkward and almost always requires a piped link. There are currently 5 articles which link to Canadian Tulip Festival and 8 articles and some pictures which link to Tulip Festival (Ottawa). The official name, Canadian Tulip Festival, would avoid the need for a piped link in most cases. Canadiana 14:57, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

This article has been renamed from Tulip Festival (Ottawa) to Canadian Tulip Festival as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 07:42, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
