Orphaned non-free media (Image:Pshomelogo.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Pshomelogo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:07, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Flickr photo license update
I have changed the license on the photo you requested [1]
also note: this photo [2] was published in the book 'Weird Indiana'
also note: Gobbler Rock, the one in these photos, fell a few years ago. There are still several rocks-in-trees around Brown County but I am unsure if any remain in Yellowwood SF.
also note: I think that here in Brown County, the Yellowwood trees are only able to grow on the south facing sides of hills. Yellowwood also has some Bald Cypress trees which are a southerly species as well...
Here is a rock-in-tree from Brown County State Park [3]

3RR on Moldova
Just a reminder you should know better than to break 3RR when the edits in question are clearly not "simple and obvious vandalism". Although there's no consensus on the matter rollback should be reserved for the clearest cases of vandalism. – Zedla (talk) 20:56, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

I would like to thank the community for placing their trust in me during my recent request for adminship, which passed 72 13 2 . Rest assured, I have read each comment thoroughly and will be addressing the various concerns raised as I step cautiously into my new role as janitor. In particular, I would like to thank Balloonman for putting so much time into reviewing my contributions and writing such a thoughtful nomination statement after knowing me for only a brief period of time (and for convincing me that I was ready to take up the mop now, rather than go through admin coaching).
To my fellow admins - please let me know right away if I ever take any mis-steps with my new tools. Should I make a mistake, and you reverse the action, I will not consider it to be wheel-warring (but please tell me so I can understand what I did wrong).
To everyone - please feel free to slap me around a bit if I ever lose sight of the core philosophy of Wikipedia as I understand it - the advancement of knowledge through the processes of mutual understanding and respect. As always, feel free to drop by my talk page if I can be of any assistance. =)
Sincerely,

Re:Editor review
Thanks for the review! Actually, I don't really get that involved in admin-related areas such as the ANI or AFD, since my main area of focus is stub and DYK? (I currently have slightly less than 20) creating. I have actually outright criticised at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Fritzpoll this notion of users having to have so-and-so amounts of edits at the ANI and AIV to become admins. Mainly I will probably work at DYK which I have a deal of experiance too. It's just so hard to contribute "behind the scenes" per se when there is so much encyclopedia building to do! Also, about the GA and FA thing -- I've never written an FA from scratch, but I turned Lazare Ponticelli from a stub into one and now I have Mary Meader (which, by the way, was not even linked to before I came) at GAC. I'm also slowly working on William Tubman to make it a GA and (hopefully, although there isn't that many sources available) an FA. Compare that to the monstrous task of starting, along with User:Blofeld of SPECTRE, articles on towns in Burkina Faso! So evidently I am pretty busy right now so I don't have the time to contribute to council discussions. I probably won't actually nominate myself until at the least mid to eng of July, if not later, and my bloch back when I first logged in certainly doesn't cast me in a very good light. However, I will try to heed your suggestions and I again thank you for your review! I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 19:19, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Query re your great reversion page and help needed with citation style
Great page, I'm tempted to nick it. But why do you say "Any edit that includes text generated by clicking on the buttons above the editing window. (e.g. Bold textLink titleItalic textSubscript text[1])"
I am trying to do inline citations with Harvard referencing and failing. Could you look at Cahokia and the Young & Fowler reference and tell me what I'm doing wrong (not that it may last long, if you look at the talk page some editor is trying to make me get a scholarly journal to verify that particular quote is 'true' in the sense of archaeologically correct or something in the book by Young & Fowler, which is already published by a university press and has had 2 rave scholarly reviews). Thanks, I prefer Harvard referencing but haven't tried it before and it is frustrating that I can't make it work. Doug Weller (talk) 17:59, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Ideas?
Hi there - I'd like to get some opinions from you as an AV person on an idea I'm thinking about. You know PseudoBot, right? Reverting redlinks on the date pages seems to be going very well, almost no false positives, and much crap kicked out. I'm wondering whether it'd be a good idea to expand it to sections of other articles that have the same problem. I'm thinking of things like the "Notable Alumni" section of articles about schools, or the "People with the forename Foo" section of some human-name-disambiguation pages - things with bulleted lists that should all have valid links. I had a "List of (nationality)" on my watchlist for a while, and dropped it off because it was too much trouble to keep clean. It could be done technically either by marking the section with a non-displaying template, or (probably better) by specifying the section name or names in a displayed template on the talk page. I think this could be a lower-key alternative to semi-protection - the bot would likely (as PseudoBot) only revert edits beginning with a bullet added by new users or anons. Thoughts? Pseudomonas(talk) 18:36, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

I see you tagged the Gary Karp page for Speedy Delete. I tried tagging {hangon} after your tag, but it just won't go in the right place.
SO - I don't know if I'm even getting my explanation/contest in to you or whoever needs to see what's up with the Gary entry.
If you can, maybe email me and let me know you got my explanation, or what's up. I am totally lost in this world of Wiki. What I do know is that I have data/info to present on a very Wiki-worthy topic (www.garykarp.com art movement).

Your adoptee
I'm not sure if your adoptee has actually retired, but if/when he comes back can you issue a gentle reminder about edits like these? He's already been warned about this (it was the first time I came across him, in fact). I don't particularly want to take what tools he has left away from him, but he's had more final warnings already than most users ever get. I don't want to enter into any further direct communication with him if I can help it at present, as I've just flamed him ruthlessly for fabricating comments from me at User talk:Jimbo Wales. The lengthy post I left at his and my talkpage was, I think, necessary to explain to anyone following the links he'd posted that what he was saying wasn't from me — but it can't have been particularly pleasant for him to wake to find it on his talkpage. – iridescent 00:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

could you please do me a favor?
Hello,
I am a master student at the Institute of Technology Management, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Currently I am wrapping up my master thesis titled “Can Wikipedia be used for knowledge service?” In order to validate the knowledge evolution maps of identified users in Wikipedia, I need your help. I have generated a knowledge evolution map to denote your knowledge activities in Wikipedia according to your inputs including the creation and modification of contents in Wikipedia, and I need you to validate whether the generated knowledge evolution map matches the knowledge that you perceive you own it. Could you please do me a favor?
- I will send you a URL link to a webpage on which your knowledge evolution map displays. Please assign the topic (concept) in the map to a certain cluster on the map according to the relationship between the topic and clusters in your cognition, or you can assign it to ‘none of above’ if there is no suitable cluster.
- I will also send a questionnaire to you. The questions are related to my research topic, and I need your viewpoints about these questions.
The deadline of my thesis defense is set by the end of June, 2008. There is no much time left for me to wrap up the thesis. If you can help me, please reply this message. I will send you the URL link of the first part once I receive your response. The completion of my thesis heavily relies much on your generous help.
Sincerely
JnWtalk 05:07, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't know whether you've seen this, but this user wrote this on his userpage, "My hope is to one day be more revered than J.delanoy san, not my new sensei, but idol of the wikipedia universe."' ——Ryan | t • c 11:22, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
for the rv to my talk page. Isn't it cute how they think you'll have any idea who they are or what edit they're referring to? Like they think they're the only vandals in the world... ;-) delldot talk 05:00, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

j.delanoy, you are cool. worth it? totally. if you make the highlighing program i will make it begin translating, and adding wikt: - tags. there is this [5] but its closed source. i emailed the guy. im not a really strong programmer either so i need help, but this could be big i think. Salil Chowdhury
Please stop edit-warring on Salil Chowdhury. The IPs edits look valid to me; your reversions here are inappropriate use of rollback, and the last thing I want to do is remove your rollback/huggle rights and/or block you for 3RR at this point! – iridescent 21:55, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
A message you sent me that does not regard me.
I just read this message from you:
March 2008
Hi, the recent edit you made to Little Miss Whoops has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. J.delanoygabsadds 22:35, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
I have no idea what "Little Miss Whoops" is. I have also never edited a Wikipedia page so I have no idea how I was selected to receive such a message.

dont be sorry... there are plenty of other pages of a similar nature like the one i tried to create with less fact and information that seem to be perfectly acceptable on Wiki.. but I can't seem to win, no matter how I edit my page... so i give up.
the Sea Hawkers page is linked from my portfolio site.. because the organization redid their site last year.. and removed pretty much ALL of their previous content... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Briandoakes (talk • contribs) 15:31, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Harassing
The user you mentioned was doing the harassing (making silly, sarcastic remarks about an edit I made, attributing certain intentions to me that weren't accurate). I'm not sure that is the caliber of mind we want administrating a tool that, good or bad, is used as a reference for many topics by many people. for the user talk revert. I see your name quite often while I'm using Hugavandal 0.7.10, such as this gem you reverted. If you have any suggestions as to how I can improve my anti-vandalism efforts please feel free to let me know. See you around. --Faradayplank (talk) 16:10, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for reverting the vandalism from my talk page too :) I'm sorry that the vandal then targeted your user page. Since you're actively into vandal-fighting, why don't you consider applying for semi-protection for it? I just did so today. Gail (talk) 16:09, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough if you don't mind. I just didn't like the thought of vandals continuously defacing my user page. Keep up your great vandal-fighting work ;) Gail (talk) 16:53, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
Sound Samples
I agree you should go lightly. I consider the sound samples on some articles as essential to the article as a mathematical formula is to a maths article. Take a look at Song to the Siren (Tim Buckley song). I don't mean to toot my own horn but i think it well represents an article which justifies its samples. Personally i think most song articles are unnecessary. Even the most avid scholar of Bob Dylan (album) probably couldn't care less if Talkin' New York existed. I think a song article is only warranted if it's a single or of particularly big importance to the artist. But that's my opinion! Sillyfolkboy (talk) 13:15, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Poverty
That line was spoken by Groucho Marx; I think it was in the film Monkey Business. He was just being funny, but he might have appreciated the curiosity that working yourself up from nothing, to either extreme poverty or extreme wealth, could be argued to be the "same thing" mathematically. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 00:39, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- I appreciate your comments. You should know that I seldom have an original thought. Nearly everything I write can be cited. That's what 3 1/2 years on wikipedia has done to me. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 00:49, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

- No, you are definitely not alone. Everyone makes mistakes, and accidentally creating a user sub-page in the mainspace is not really a big deal, nor is it hard to fix. To make truly awesome mistakes, you usually have to be an admin (and I am not one). Take a look at our Wall of Shame if you want to see the really big mistakes... Orphaned non-free media (Image:Linkin Park - Numb.ogg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Linkin Park - Numb.ogg.
Apologies
Hey J., I apologize for abruptly archiving your thread on my talkpage. I know you only meant well, and I took your post completely the wrong way. You were looking for open feedback. For some reason, after reading some of the responses, I just saw it turning into a flame for either you or Dusti and I didn't want either of you to be discouraged. Everyone's posts were fine, I was projecting. Again, apologies. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 16:42, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm from Spanish wikipedia
Hi. Ok i'm going to explain the things that you have wrong in your user page.
when you say:
No sé español más bien.=incorrect form.|correct form: No sé español muy bien.
the mean is:
i don't know spanish more good.=incorrect form.|correct form: I don't know a good Spanish.
The Spanish language, have too many forms to say the verbs. When you talk about an action that you going to make, NEVER yo use the complete verb. If you don't understand me, here the explain:
ENGLISH: when I learn more Spanish(...) A bad translate are: cuando yo aprender más español(...)
In english, the verb only change in past and future. In spanish, the verb have many changes in present, have many change in past, have many changes in future. aprenda is the example of one change in present.
ENGLISH: when I learn more Spanish(...) A good translate are: cuando yo aprenda más español(...)
This is good: voy a tener el mismo nombre de usuario en este enciclopedia como tengo en la Wikipedia en inglés.
Maybe you want say: My account in english is here? in spanish you use: in like EN.
--Daviddavid0100 (talk) 22:43, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Write in my Spanish discussion account. Is the same user name. --Daviddavid0100 (talk) 22:44, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
