The article Farouq Abdul-Aziz has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Off2riorob (talk) 11:23, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Farouq Abdul-Aziz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thanks for uploading File:Farouq Abdul-Aziz.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 10:52, 3 May 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:52, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article From Microcosm to Macrocosm has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:24, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated From Microcosm to Macrocosm, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/From Microcosm to Macrocosm. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:56, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Bucaille_commenting_on_the_authenticity_of_the_Qur'an_during_his_presentaion_at_the_Academie_Francaise_de_Medecine_in_Nov_1976.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Bucaille_commenting_on_the_authenticity_of_the_Qur'an_during_his_presentaion_at_the_Academie_Francaise_de_Medecine_in_Nov_1976.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 06:19, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Vaneesa with Farouq Abdul-Aziz.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. The article Vanessa Talks with Farouk Abdulaziz has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability; article contains unreferenced biographical material contrary to WP policy; non-neutral language

The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. andy (talk) 13:52, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. andy (talk) 13:58, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Farouq Abdul-Aziz. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. andy (talk) 17:18, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with this edit to Farouq Abdul-Aziz. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. TbhotchTalk C. 17:23, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Bucaille elaborating on another find in the Qur'an pertaining to the Big Bang and Space Exploration.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Bucaille elaborating on another find in the Qur'an pertaining to the Big Bang and Space Exploration.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:50, 15 June 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 02:50, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Farouq Abdul Aziz

[edit]

I saw a message at WP:AN the you wanted an article userfied that had been deleted. Unfortunately, we cannot do this as the article was a WP:COPYVIO. If you wish to write an article on this person in your own words, then you could create the article in a sub-page of your user space at User:Mblegacy/Farouq Abdul-Aziz (Just start editing there to create page). Please note, this does not mean you can re-insert copyrighted material - doing so would be seen as disruptive. Write the article in your own words, using reliable sources to back those words, and when the article is ready, it can be moved to its correct title (you'll have to ask for admin assistance at WP:RFPP as the page is currently locked). Please be sure to read WP:BIO, which will tell you if the person is notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia (having looked at the deleted article, I'd say probably notable enough), and also WP:BLP as the person is living. Any questions, please ask. Mjroots (talk) 14:12, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As a follow-up note, if you are the original author of the text, you can follow the steps listed at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials to verify that you have permission and it would no longer be marked as a copyright violation. VernoWhitney (talk) 00:29, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

From my talk page

[edit]

Dear Mblegacy, I think the article has promise. Mr. Abdul-Aziz is clearly (to me) notable. The text is no longer a plagarism problem (at least to any of my searches). I believe the only significant obstacle is the lack of reliable sources. The BFI link clearly establishes Mr. Abdul-Aziz as the interviewer for that film but referencing the other bits of the article are very problematic. IMDB cannot be used as a reliable source in most cases, except perhaps to support a filmography. While I don't doubt the information on your http://bucaillelegacy.com/FarouqAbdulAziz.html site is accurate, I'm not sure we could say that it is a reliable source. We don't know the background on the information there. Are there any print books about him? Articles about him on major journalism sites? I couldn't find anything in a quick google search, but I understand it may be limited to western writing and not Arabic. Regards, Syrthiss (talk) 12:41, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Dr. Zuhair almazeedi, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.franchise-kwt.com/mazeedi/mazeedi/pages/ecv.php.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Farouk Abdul-Aziz, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Al-Watan and Al-Arabi. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 05:58, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest / paid editing

[edit]
Information icon

Hello Mblegacy. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Farouk Abdul-Aziz, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Mblegacy. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Mblegacy|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Melcous (talk) 04:18, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
