Active articles

The following sections are intended to help task force members collaborate effectively by identifying articles that need attention, working on those articles, and recording our progress. Add new entries to the bottom.

To do

  15. BT Group: Add environmental record section
  16. Google: Add environmental record section
  17. Ken Livingstone: Add environmental record section
  18. Caterpillar Inc.:
    1. Move environmental issues from criticisms to their own environmental record section
    2. Include information about consent decree that came in response to Caterpillar intentionally avoiding emissions standards in some of their engines. More here
  19. James Connaughton:
    1. Remove unsourced and inaccurate paragraph that starts: "Connaughton has extensive experience helping organizations large and small become responsible environmental stewards"
    2. Clarify his role at Sidley, Austin, Brown, and Wood, where he lobbied to reduce government regulations
    3. Add information about controversial edits to governmental reports on climate change. See here
  20. Barrick Gold: Revise section on environmental record to provide actual sources about problematic practices in Papa New Guinea
  21. United States Republican Party: Article has no "environmental policy" or "environmental record" section. A section could be added that shows the Republican record on environmental protection and also indicates the increasing controversy within the part, as Republicans call for more action on environmental issues.
  22. George W. Bush administration: This article could be cleaned up to include a section on the Bush administration's environmental record.
  23. U.S. Department of the Interior: The DOI is in charge of most U.S. environmental policies. A controversy section should be added to this entry regarding the policy of appointing officials with strong ties to the industries they are supposed to regulate.
  24. Fast Food, criticisms section: This information should be split out into a separate environmental impact section, as it is more accurate to discuss the "criticisms" of fast food in the context of well-documented impacts on agriculture, deforestation, global warming, etc.
  25. Cattle ||: There is information about environmental impact in the Cattle#Present status section that could be organized and amplified into a separate section.
  26. Coal mining||: The current environmental impact section is poorly organized and has no sources.
  27. Mark Rey: Write article for Mark Rey, former timber lobbyist who is now the Under Secretary for Natural Resources and the Environment.
  28. Allan Fitzsimmons: Write article for Allan Fitzsimmons, Wildlands Fuels Coordinator, Department of the Interior. Here's a start.
  29. Federal land use policy: An article including information on how Federal lands have been made available to energy companies is called for. This could be a new article and/or an expansion of Land use politics.
  30. Carbon neutrality: There is an article on Carbon offsets, but it seems like carbon neutrality should have its own entry. See this report for more information.
  31. Green fleets: A growing number of cities are making their municipal fleet of vehicles more fuel efficient, smaller, etc. See here and here for some resources.
