Sura Al-Falaq (Arabic: سورة الفلق ) (Dawn, Daybreak) is the 113th Surah of the Qur'an. It is a brief 5-verse invocation, asking Allah for protection from the evil of Satan. It is a Meccan sura. Together with sura An-Nas it is also known as Al-Mu'awwidhatayn.
Introduction and Summary to Surah 113 - Al Falaq
This early Makkan Surah provides the antidote to superstition and fear by teaching us to seek refuge in Allah from every kind of ill arising from outer nature and from dark and evil plottings.
Arabic Text, Transliteration & Translation
Arabic:
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ١
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ٢
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ٣
وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ ٤
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ٥
Translitertaion:
Bismillah Ihraman Ihrahim
1 Qul a'oothu birabbi alfalaqa
2 Min sharri ma khalaqa
3 Wamin sharri ghasiqin itha waqab
4 Wamin sharrinnaffathati filuqad
5 Wamin sharri hasidin itha hasada
Translation:
1 Say, `I seek refuge in the Lord of the day break, and the plain appearing and emergence of truth.
2 `From the evil of that which He has created,
3 `And from the evil (that usually prevails in the times) of darkness when it overspreads (at night),
4 `And from the evil of those who blow on knots,
5 `And from the evil of the envier when he envies.'
