so, you've been around a while ...

It's never too late!

G'day there, LinuxMigration, and welcome to Wikipedia! Good authors are always welcome on the project, and I hope you like the place and decide to stick around!

We've got a few pages you might find helpful, such as:

It's all best summed up here: write from a neutral point of view, play nice with others, and don't let the rules get you down.

If you have any questions or need any help, my talkpage is always open for business, or you can see Wikipedia:Newcomers help page. Here's a tip to start you off: if you type four tildes (~~~~) at the end of any messages you leave on talkpages (like this one) Wikipedia will automatically insert your name and the current date and time after your message. Re: Valentinez Alkalinella Xifax Sicidabo...

Well since Redirects Are Cheap, I felt it was a better idea than having the page deleted as patent nonsense, as which it was incorrectly tagged. Alternative names should redirect to the original target, even if they are hard to remember, and when dealing with these situations they're useful in that they direct new users towards existing articles to edit rather than creating new ones which aren't necessary. - Zeibura (Talk) 10:35, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. Deleted and closed. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 01:10, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. But I was thinking after I did it that it should have just been speedy delete tagged instead. (I'm also just getting used to Twinkle and learning delete criteria) --Jeremyb 01:13, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

George O'Malley

Sorry, I wasn't vandalizing this page. The portion I deleted was in reference to his unsure future on the show. It has now been confirmed that he is returning, so there is no use for that section.

I didn't realize editing something was considered vandal. Perhaps I should just stop contributing all together? Would that suit you? Because in the way your censoring me, it seems if I do so much as add a period to an article it can be considered vandalism. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BaronessofBud (talkcontribs) 12:10, 6 August 2007.

I see a bunch of constructive edits by this user and was just about to put up a welcome message. Which edits are you referring to? --Jeremyb 12:25, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure what he is up to. This edit first attacted my attention; there was a bit of other vandalism mixed in. --TeaDrinker 12:27, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, saw that right after I posted to your talk. --Jeremyb 12:28, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like User:Escobillo was reverting unsourced insertion of content conflicting with existing sourced content by 80.230.176.45. (see his edit summaries) --Jeremyb 12:37, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks that way, although I don't see the history of an edit war. It is curious. I'm not terribly inclined to assume good faith when several other edits are clear vandalism. I will go ahead and revert the changes, since it seems quite reasonable to be removing unsourced material. Thanks for the work! --TeaDrinker 12:43, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Freddie Mercury & IP 64.9.92.162

Just wanted to let you know I struck out your comment at the IP they were trying to fix this. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 07:27, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't follow. AFAICT the user removed an entire infobox; the only change was that single continuous removal. I'm not assuming bad faith here, but I also don't see any indication that this destructive edit was an attempt to fix anything. After re-reading the template I left I feel that it is a fitting notice for the situation. --Jeremyb 07:36, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I always assume that where a vandal edits as 124.171.130.84 (contributions) did here that the next edit by 64.9.92.162 was a good faith attempt by the IP to fix what was by then a broken infobox. I figure that they didn't know just to revert the page but thought that they needed to remove it. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 07:51, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vote for a post-meetup restaurant

I'm charged with making the reservations for us, so let's make it official. We'll do this via voting and everyone including anonymous voters, sockpuppets, and canvassed supporters is enfranchised. Voting irregularities and election fraud are encouraged as that would be really amusing in this instance. Please vote for whichever restaurant you would like to eat at given the information provided above and your own personal prejudices at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC#Let's make it official. The prevailing restaurant will be called first for the reservation. If a reservation cannot be obtained at the winning restaurant, the runner-up restaurant will be called thus making this entire process pointless. Voting ends 24 hours after this timestamp (because I said so). ScienceApologist (talk) 17:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Second Annual WikiNYC Picnic

Greetings! You are invited to attend the second annual New York picnic on August 24! This year, it will be taking place in the Long Meadow of Prospect Park in Brooklyn. If you plan on coming, please sign up and be sure to bring something! Please be sure to come!
You have received this automated delivery because your name was on the invite list. BrownBot (talk) 20:15, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So you're the one who took my name

  1. I replied to your post on the bot request page.
  2. Are you the reason I could not use my name when I signed up? I bet I had mine before you had yours, so give it up.

--Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 16:57, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  1. I've filed a WP:BRFA and am almost ready for trial
  2. I don't know, what name did you try to register? My account is older than yours... (or did you mean actually having the name IRL?)
--Jeremyb (talk) 17:03, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, on second thought, I've had the account longer than you've had one but I've only had the username since last year so I definitely didn't effect your ability to create an account with the name "jeremy" in it. --Jeremyb (talk) 18:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just kidding BTW, I used Jerem43 because it is my ISP assignment for my email address - you know the old number-for-letter substitution. I believe "8" is usually "B" though. Oh well. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 22:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ohh, you really are jeremyb! I figured that was a possibility but I was thinking you were probably just jeremy without the b. And I've seen substitutions like that but they are usually done by end users or spammers not ISPs IME. Jeremyb (talk) 22:07, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I got it in '96 when I got myself an ISDN line. 144/156 kbs of digital goodness at a time most connections were 28.8 kbs, and it increased to 288/312 kbs when they introduced compression. Old IBM Business Net (now at&t), cost me $30 a month plus $40 for line in my house from Nynex (Verizon). --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 06:41, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I replied to your post on the bot approval page. I also added a couple or three projects I missed in the initial request on the botreq page. Just to make for sure you get it, it is a one time message notifying participants of a new inter-WikiProject message board and standards drive for Food and Drink related projects and task forces.

Dirty Magazine- Malcolm in the Middle

you have been to this page. It perplexes me what the Principle truly said as to referrencing what the story 'Car Crash' said. In the article it is censored (although I figured Wikipedia was uncensored) but it does read "J*** my d****". Jack my dick? but the 3rd word has 4 asteriks, so I truly have no clue what is being written. It could be a typo, but Jack doesnt seem like aword to be censored. Anyways, you edted it so I figure you might know what it actually was in the script. --69.150.73.212 (talk) 02:09, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is in fact not censored and I think I remember seeing something like that but leaving it because I thought it might have just been following some precedent from the show. (e.g. if the phrase appeared in print on screen in the show in that form; in fact I see that is exactly the case, quoting the article: Principle Block however demands that the story is pornographic because it contains the words j*** my d**** (the words themselves are censored).) If I recall correctly my recent changes to Malcolm in the Middle related articles all focused on wikifying content, making it conform better to the WP:MOS, adding categories and templates, and other maintenance tasks. I don't think I've ever seen a whole episode of the show so I won't be too much help with substantive issues regarding articles about it.
Do you disagree with my interpretation? Do you believe the sentence I quoted from the article is inaccurate? Jeremyb (talk) 02:33, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eh? I think he justs wants to know wat the script read cuz he couldnt figure it out on his own. Frankly, With the second word having 4 asteriks I dont see how the word could be dick.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MrLangflord (talkcontribs) 08:19, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
