World War II service

During the war DePaolo was a U.S. Army officer (perhaps a full colonel) serving as a military attache' in Geneva. Very little online information seems available. See Davidson and Shaffer, "Autocourse Official History of the Indianapolis 500," Motorbooks, 2006, p. 104. Also C.E. Anderson, "To Fly and Fight: Memoirs of a Triple Ace." Pacifica Press, 1990, p. 165.
