Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in Martyn Jope, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please review the MOS guidelines for writing biographies before creating further articles on the English Wikipedia. Specifically in regards to the lede paragraph, information may be found here and here. Thanks. Cindamuse (talk) 15:44, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Calvin Blignault
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Calvin Blignault requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cindamuse (talk) 16:23, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Dear Cindamuse
- Thank you very much for reviewing my work. The article on Calvin Blignault has been written by myself without copying from any copyrighted material. The reference, which is shown on the talk page and the reference that you have entered to the delete tag have been clearly copied from my article not vice versa. The latter document makes even reference to wikipedia. Please double check and remove the delete tags.

- Thanks, I was looking at a wrong date and thought the other came first. I need sleep. I removed the delete tag and hang on. Have a great day/evening. Regards, Cindamuse (talk) 16:44, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for resolving this issue. Sleep well!--NearEMPTiness (talk) 16:46, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
A. & J. Inglis
Hi, I've notice you've been expanding the article. It may be better to split the ships off into a list, such as List of ships built by A. & J. Inglis as it is starting to dominate the article. A navbox may also be of use, similar to {{Lithgows ships}}. Mjroots (talk) 08:08, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- Dear Mjroots (talk): Thanks for the feedback. A list or table would be indeed the better option, since so much information has already been retrieved in a day. I will consider the options and would appreciate any help.--NearEMPTiness (talk) 08:14, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- Do you feel that you are able to do this yourself, or would you like me to handle it? Mjroots (talk) 08:47, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- Since many of the A. & J. Inglis ships aren't on Wikipedia yet, I suggest to collate a 5 column table with Yard No, Launch date, name, information and a small photograph. Just adding links similar to {{Lithgows ships}} does not provide the same information, because it doesn't show the hisrtoric development. I haven't ever created any tables yet but would use the following as as starting point List of world's largest wooden ships but sort it by Yard No and/or launch date. Do you have access to a compleste list of 500 relevant Yard Numbers?--NearEMPTiness (talk) 09:44, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- I don't have a list of all the yard numbers, but would suggest Clydesite would be a good place to start. It sounds like you want something similar to British Railways ships, which I recently created. Mjroots (talk) 10:01, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed that looks like an excellent template, if sorted historically by lauch year and not by alphabet. I feel that you have more experience than me on this editorial matter, and would be delighted, if you get this started.--NearEMPTiness (talk) 10:28, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- I'll do it early tomorrow morning. Mjroots (talk) 20:06, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- I'll create the list now, after which, the ships can be deleted from the Inglis page. Mjroots (talk) 07:03, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

I've created the list. I've put the photos in with the notes as many of the ships do not have photograps. This prevents narrow columns of text where a photo is missing with the corresponding narrow column of blank space. I did find that one ref was to a Wiki, so that ship has not been added. Unverified ships have not been added, nor have the group of eight ships with a ref for only one of them. Please feel free to expand the list with references from reliable sources. A search of Clydesite reveals a good number of vessels which could be added. Mjroots (talk) 11:05, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- {{Inglis ships}} has also been created and added to all ships that have articles. Mjroots (talk) 14:41, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Dear Mjroots (talk): I am honestly impressed about your list. Thank you very much for the nice work. Let's hope that it attracts more contributions about this previously overlooked ship yard and its products.--NearEMPTiness (talk) 16:49, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- The ships will need to be removed from the main article now. Suggest a section headed ==Ships built by Inglis== with a {{see|List of ships built by A. & J. Inglis}} header pointing to the list. Any unreferenced ships in the main article may be added to the list once a ref is found (e.g. the two cancelled Castle class corvettes). Will leave you to sort that out. Signal flags
International maritime signal flags may be of use to you. Mjroots (talk) 10:39, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the hint, but I am still puzzled regarding the Talisman flags. Thanks also for the impprovementst to the table.--NearEMPTiness (talk) 11:26, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.--John (talk) 17:04, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
- Dear John. Thank you for your comment. Could you please double-check the relevance of the links that you deleted and then consider re-installing them? Best regards --NearEMPTiness (talk) 17:18, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
- If John doesn't wish to remove them, I will. Please read WP:ELNO - this type of forum site is specifically warned against. Andy Dingley (talk) 00:46, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the clarification. I now fully appreciate the removal of these links.--NearEMPTiness (talk) 04:30, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Quail Island (Queensland)
I noticed the location mentioned in the Quail Island as close to Darwin. How can an island so close to Darwin be in Queensland? Can you clarify this? - Shiftchange (talk) 07:58, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for spotting this mistake. I moved the article to Quail Island (Northern Territory). I don't know more than shown in the reference. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 20:47, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for October 4
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Judith Jolly, Baroness Jolly, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages NHS and Peer (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Richard Paulet, 17th Marquess of Winchester has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- titles do not establish notability; nothing in the article to pass WP:NOTABILITY
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Crusoe8181 (talk) 10:25, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Pulsed Magnetic Welding
Great job on the William F. Brown page. I am his youngest son. I have an award he received that states he is the "Father of Pulsed Magnetic Welding". Do you have any further information on this that could be added to the page? You reference "magnetic pulse welding" in the page. Is that the correct terminology? My father always referred to it as pulsed magnetic welding as the award did. Also, did you know my father? I would like to know who you are. You can contact me via email at ...@gmail.com. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TomBrownNextstate (talk • contribs) 21:33, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Ways to improve VDMA
Hi, I'm Bryanrutherford0. NearEMPTiness, thanks for creating VDMA!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The lead is a little too promotional; a neutral source would help!
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Bryanrutherford0 (talk) 17:19, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

First digitally enhanced attempt by H&N
Happy New Year to you! I thought of you, after receiving the first entry on a little competition that I started on the German Wikipedia on digitally enhancing a problematic photograph of Brocket Hall. Following your example I have written 42 English and nearly 300 German articles by now.
Best regards
NearEMPTiness aka Stephan from The Cottage in Great Abington. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 09:38, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Stephan
- A belated happy new year to you too.... sorry, I missed your post at the start of the year. I'm not editing Wikipedia that much these days, due to too many people not observing the rules or original spirit of Wikipedia.
- But it is cool that you are helping to expand the German version.
- Congratulations on your work on the Brocket Hall photo. The perspective correction looks particularly good.
