Request
Crisco, tell please to Coat to remove that giant picture from the Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/File:Portrait de Jeanne d'Aragon, by Raffaello Sanzio, from C2RMF retouched.jpg nomination. I did remove it and s/he put that back again, and goes on again arguing and I am fed up with it. S/he is doing everything to destroy that nomination. If s/he doesn't like it - nobody is allowed to like it. It is disrespectfull and disruptive. Hafspajen (talk) 22:21, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
- Removed two images, neither of which is under discussion and thus (in the strictest approach) neither of which should probably be on that page. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:14, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
- You are a good admin. Hafspajen (talk) 23:16, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
- Now that's something else. Not used in any articles though. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:02, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- That I imagine - will not be a problem. Easily fixed. Hafspajen (talk) 09:42, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

- No, probably not. Go right ahead if you want — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:17, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- Done. Can this red be edited out? (yes we don't have any better...) Hafspajen (talk) 21:19, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- Doable. Maybe later today. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:02, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

- Listen. I feel we need to have a serious discussion - and without this editor's and her/his comments and personal idiosyncrasy - about edits. This for the first thing this can't go on like this, and for the second I think that this one person influences everyone. But I think the issue is NOT such a terrible thing - or such big issue either. I think that all trusted editors should try to make a much clearer policy about this. Hafspajen (talk) 09:49, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- I still say that it's best to have him just yell into the silence, then lose his voice. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:51, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, yes, you have a good point - but as I read the guidlines it is NOT there as expressly envisaged by the guidelines - it is just one persons personal interpretation of guidlines. Hafspajen (talk) 09:53, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- And - I really think that others might be better qualified to clarify this - and because it is starts taking way to big proportions - and - I actualy think - there was nothing really wrong with let'say Dtz's edits - or any other similar - and we can't let one person run the show. Hafspajen (talk) 10:03, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

THIS: is what commons say: Digital manipulations must not deceive the viewer. Digital manipulation for the purpose of correcting flaws in an image is generally acceptable, provided it is limited, well-done, and not intended to deceive. - For historic images, acceptable manipulations might include digitally fixing rips, removal of stains, cleanup of dirt, and, for mass-produced artworks such as engravings, removal of flaws inherent to the particular reproduction, such as over-inking. Careful colour adjustments may be used to bring out the original work from the signs of ageing, (EXACLY WHAT Dcoetzee DID) though care should be taken to restore a natural appearance. (EXACLY WHAT Dcoetzee DID) The original artistic intent should be considered when deciding whether it is appropriate to make a change. Edits to historic material should be documented in detail within the file description, and an unedited version should be uploaded and cross linked for comparison. And we have just one editor saying - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, it's in the GUIDELINES!!!! - but it is not, actually. Hafspajen (talk) 10:08, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- I fear you don't get what I mean by letting the editor's voice echo in silence. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:19, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ahem.... Hafspajen (talk) 18:51, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- Yes I do. I am worried about what is happening while it is on. People who are uncertain might take this seriously, if not informed ot bother checking what's there actually. Hafspajen (talk) 10:22, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Fair point. But we haven't given anyone a chance to show if the misleading comments will affect others — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:25, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hm. Nobody care anymore to vote for Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/File:Portrait de Jeanne d'Aragon, by Raffaello Sanzio, from C2RMF retouched.jpg - so I suppose the misleading comments did affect others. And it was the same thing here File:0 Portrait d'une femme à sa toilette - Titien - Louvre (INV 755) - (2).JPG - versus File:Portrait d'une Femme à sa Toilette, by Titian, from C2RMF retouched.jpg, by the way. Hafspajen (talk) 10:30, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- I generally attribute a lack of interest to a very long thread. Few people care to read all that in order to support or oppose.. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:02, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, that is quite true too. Or they might get scared of by the language used. Hafspajen (talk) 11:06, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:12, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

- I was studying Art History - but Amandajm is the one who was teaching it - and she have seen most big artworks. I trust what she say. In this case it has to be a withdraw nomination - since none of them is correct. I told you that the colors were originally much brighter ... but since the museum site was posting that pic, I thought it might have gone bad during the centuries. Hafspajen (talk) 11:22, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hmm... well, don't forget a lot of times they deliberately scan at a lower exposure to reduce glare from the cracks and flakes. Something that Coat seems to ignore. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:29, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

- Now I know WHY: Do you see that last comment? [1]. Do you see where that was inserted? GRRrr. And I wondered why on eart nobody cares nore for this nomination. Put it right in the middle of the starting info - so it looked like the whole thing was of. Bugger. Hafspajen (talk) 08:14, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

- Just let it go for now, rather than getting stressed. They say patience is a virtue, and we don't have to make sure the image passes now. It can run again some other time. Even if Coat stopped adding images now, the nom wouldn't pass. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:27, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, but you took it real cool when s/he acused your nom with forgery. This has to stop. Hafspajen (talk) 08:29, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- You and I both know that, in the world of historical documents and art, forgery is a pretty serious accusation, and it has a more specific meaning than simply "wrote someone else's signature". I've already stopped replying to him/her. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:32, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- I know it is serious. Hafspajen (talk) 08:33, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Doria
I made something rather unusual - made a new article. Do you think you could maybe look at it, here are some references [2] [3]- and maybe ... expand it to.. . Hafspajen (talk) 13:48, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hmm... that is something different. I'll try and have a look tomorrow, if I have time. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:22, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Witdrawn nomination. Sorry but I prefer to retract my nomination and withdraw from this discussion. And it is editwar on top of evrything, on that too. Hafspajen (talk) 22:54, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Sigh... — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:04, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't wanted a nomination that is ten pages long again. People don't reed those. Hafspajen (talk) 04:03, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- Are you supposed to nominate somebody else withdrawn nomination again? Hafspajen (talk) 06:07, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- Armbrust or someone else will get to it to close it. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:20, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- Are you supposed to nominate somebody else withdrawn nomination again? Hafspajen (talk) 06:07, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- I've expanded the article, Hafs. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:00, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- Here is some of the German Andrea Doria as Waterboy , they seems to mention both names, Posseidon and the other one both just as much. Interesting picture. I think our version is much more like the Tashen art book picture, by the way. At least not someone painting with her vagina or dick.
Hafspajen (talk) 02:34, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'd ask how someone could paint with her vagina, but then I've seen the videos already... — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:36, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ugh, hate to think about the discussions - is this the original color ..or not. This is interesting too, this [4] trying to express that the nude man would have been a constious choice - showing of course beauty, but also that he does not need gold, diamonds, fur, jewels, horses or other display of power - he himself relying on his own powers is enough. (However one would explain or add that that in an encyclopedical way...) Hafspajen (talk) 02:42, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- Pretty much just as you did, except attributing the opinion to Schneider if that's what he wrote. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:48, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- I am a little bit sad about the article not have its original tile.. I thought Portrait of Andrea Doria as God of Sea was so clever of me, not going into if it was this or that one. Hafspajen (talk) 17:06, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- It was a good title, but sadly the MOS has to trump it. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:25, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
DAP
Want to help me think of a hook for DAP Racing? My brain is fried... I can't be more creative than... dyk that DAP stands for Dumb-Ass Partners? Montanabw(talk) 08:15, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- Montanabw, A bit foul-mouthed, maybe, but: ... that Dumb-Ass Partners ran a horse in the Kentucky Derby with a green jackass on its back, winning the race? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:23, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
And let uss not
- Very nice. "Deliver us from temptation" indeed. She doesn't care, at all, about that gold. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:45, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- No. And white is actually green. Hafspajen (talk) 12:45, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- That is a hideous shade. How... what? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:58, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, what, inded. Have you heard of Wikipedia:Disruptive users? One of their interesting Features is: #Creating disturbances on featured article candidate pages, e.g. objecting just to object. ... Hafspajen (talk) 14:21, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
œ== So I don't break a promise ... ==
Hi Crisco, I promised Hafs yesterday that I would try to upload this file from the Italian Wikipedia to Commons but for the life of me I cannot manage to do it ... can you help, please? I cannot even get Google to translate the Italian page this morning to give me a clue so I must be in dizzy blonde mode (or something)! SagaciousPhil - Chat 07:52, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, aside from the fact that that's the Lithuanian Wikipedia (which would explain why you can't get GTranslate to work), I doubt that image is free. Web-resolution... I'm always wary of those. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:59, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks - I will offer you a string of excuses: it and lt look very similar without my lenses in (even on a proper big iMac screen); as before, I'm in dizzy/dim blonde mode; and, finally, I'm hot and tired as it's actually sunny here today! SagaciousPhil - Chat 08:19, 25 July 2014 (UTC) Note for Hafspajen, sorry, I did try!
- (Hot? As in, 85F hot?) BTW, if Hafs comes: so is something like this art or not? Pregnant at age 11... — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:21, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- It is not art - it is a social problem. Where are the parents who should take care? What becomes pregnant? Is it falling gold from the sky - Danae ? One doesn't just became pregnant, not just like that - without doing certain things. Weird stuff. Hafspajen (talk) 14:28, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- No, no golden rain. They "do things" without understanding them, and it has horrible (yet wonderful) consequence. Sasou makes a message about society, challenging them, yet also reinforcing their values. (Though to be honest his art is quite cutesy, IMHO). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:39, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, yes, it is cute - in a sad way. Hafspajen (talk) 14:43, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Very. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:50, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Uhmm, no - as in 66F, in town, so a touch cooler way out here in the sticks; I've even had to switch a fan on but the haar will come back in shortly. Pregnant at 11, poor child ... SagaciousPhil - Chat 08:38, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

- Life hasn't handed me lemons. Cold showers are... well, all I have. No water heater in this house. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:06, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

_ Rather nice, but pixelated in the shadows. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:28, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I knew that, but I mean - it looked so white - wondered if that was natural - in front of a sheet perhaps - or cut? Hafspajen (talk) 04:31, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- Plain white background, then dodged in Photoshop. Does wonders. (Might be some cutting too) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:34, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Halaman pengalihan
Hanamanteo (talk) 09:00, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Setahu saya, kebiasaan. Setahu saya.09:01, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
DYK nomination of Kundō Koyama
Hello! Your submission of Kundō Koyama at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Is there any chance we could set this up for POTD soon? It doesn't need to jump the queue: One of the WikiCup competitors did the FL List of Major League Baseball hitters who have batted in 10 runs in one game, an accomplishment Wilbert was the first ever to do, and I'd like to set it up enough that I don't forget to include a link to that list. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 15:21, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- As I happen to be an FLC delegate, I could easily do it... if I didn't just get a copyediting job (I really shouldn't be online, but meh). My recommendation is to submit a blurb to Wikipedia:Today's featured list/submissions (<joke> or bribe SchroCat with a free image of whatever celebrity he's writing about now</joke>). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:25, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, I meant for POTD, not LOTD. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 15:51, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ah. Early September too late? I've scheduled through late August, and we've got a run of biographies in the early August 20s (i.e. 21, 22, etc.). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:01, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, there's no need for it to jump the queue, whenever it would go up is fine, I just want to make sure it links the list article, lest I forget. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:22, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Red (and of course, me) couldn't have done it without you! Thanks for the continuing help and belief that something good would come out of all the work everyone did! We hope (talk) 13:20, 26 July 2014 (UTC) |
- When you consider that there wasn't much left of the article after the copyvios were removed, and then to have at least 2 known cases of other sites (the official Skelton one among them) copying major portions of it and not crediting Wikipedia, getting it to FA is something to toot about as it's an example of what can be done when people work at it together. Thanks again! We hope (talk) 13:25, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

These were added by Dr. B. It would seem that his films are now covered properly in the film section, thanks to Dr. B., but I think it would be OK to pare this down somewhat in the lead, due to the coverage he added. We hope (talk) 14:28, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
DYK for Kundō Koyama
On 26 July 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kundō Koyama, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Kundō Koyama's first screenplay for a feature film won 98 awards? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kundō Koyama. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |
The DYK project (nominate) 22:44, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Crisco, this seems to be stalled over the third image in the article, which has a PD-India tag, but that may not be good enough for en-Wikipedia. Can you please take a look, and do whatever seems to be necessary to get the nomination moving again? Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:21, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
- Done. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:40, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
