2016 Formula One World Championship

The 2016 Formula One season will be the 67th season of the FIA Formula One World Championship, a motor racing championship for Formula One cars which is recognised by the sport's governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. Teams and drivers will compete for the World Drivers' and World Constructors' Championships.
Signed teams and drivers
Team changes
- Haas Formula, a team established by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team owner Gene Haas, will join the Formula One grid in 2016 after the team was accepted to join the championship for the 2015 season before Haas deferred his entry by a year.[3]
Driver changes
- In June of 2014, Kimi Räikkönen indicated his plans to retire from Formula One at the end of the 2015 season when his then-current Ferrari contract was set to expire.[4]

The following twenty Grands Prix are currently scheduled to take place in 2016.
Calendar changes
- The Grand Prix of America, which is to take place at the Port Imperial Street Circuit in New Jersey and was originally supposed to take place in 2013 before being delayed[32] will make its Formula One debut in 2016.[33]
- The European Grand Prix will be held for the first time since 2012 with the race to be held on a street circuit in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.[14]
- The German Grand Prix is set to return to the Hockenheimring, in accordance with the event-sharing agreement established between the Hockenheimring and the Nürburgring in 2008.[16] The Hockenheimring had previously hosted the race in 2014.
Rule changes
- Starting in 2016, the number of pre-season tests will be reduced from four to three.[34]

- ^ The name "Baku Street Circuit" has been used to refer to three different circuits used by Formula One, FIA GT and the Blancpain Sprint Series. The proposed European Grand Prix circuit will be based around Azadliq Avenue.[15]
