In 1970, Dr. Hoshikawa was researching how to transform the planet Sedon into a green, lush world, testing it by attempting to grow flowers. On the day the first flower bloomed, the Zone empire assault on the planet, he and his wife were separated from their five children. Arthur G6 took the five children back to Earth and raised them. 20 years later, the five are now teachers in the same school. The Zone empire now prepares to invade Earth as its thousandth target and as they begin the attack, three vehicles appear and counter the offensive, five warriors descend from the vehicles and confront Zone. The Hoshikawa siblings have been developing the Fiveman technology and training hard upon the possibility of Zone invading Earth. Now the five siblings are ready to battle with the familiar foes as Fiveman. After defeating the Zone empire, the Fivemen departed Earth to recover their stranded parents.

Characters

Hoshikawa Family

"Terrestrial Squadron Fiveman!"

Five siblings (three brothers and two sisters), separated from their parents during a Zone attack, sent to board a ship along with Arthur G6 to be raised and learn of the Fiveman technology.

  • Gaku Hoshikawa (星川学 Hoshikawa Gaku) / Five Red (ファイブレッド Faibureddo) : At 27, he's the eldest and leader of the team. Science teacher skilled in kendo. Was 7 at the time of the Zone's attack on Sidon. Calm and responsable, Gaku had the task of raising his four siblings along with Arthur G6, making him not just a big brother but also a leader and a parental figure. Out of fear, fired a gun at Garoa's face, scarring him, creating a rivalry. Even though a reliable and brave leader, he has a major weakness with the supernatural.
    • Attacks/Weapon: V Sword, V Power Grip, V Shuttler, V Sword Spark
  • Ken Hoshikawa (星川健 Hoshikawa Ken) / Five Blue (ファイブブルー Faibuburū): The second born. 25 years old. Physical education teacher skilled in judo. Subleader of Fiveman. Extremely passionate in everything he does, relies more in the body combat than in weapons. Even tought one of his students the meaning of courage by defeating a foe without transforming.
  • Fumiya Hoshikawa (星川文矢 Hoshikawa Fumiya) / Five Black (ファイブブラック Faibuburakku) : The fourth born and twin brother of Remi. 20 years old. Japanese teacher skilled in karate. Has a wide range knowledge of various languages, even alien ones. Despite this, he tends to be childish and reckless. He and Remi were only 1 year old during the attack on Sidon, therefore they continuously suffer for not remembering their parent's faces.
    • Attacks/Weapon: Power Cutter, Black Jaws, Cutter Disks, Screw Cutter
  • Kazumi Hoshikawa (星川数美 Hoshikawa Kazumi) / Five Pink (ファイブピンク Faibupinku) : The third born. 23 years old. Math teacher skilled in fencing. Calm and intelligent, can analyze and calculate with her "computer like" brain. Was 3 years old at the time of the attack on Sidon and remembers nothing but fear which she had to overcome to do battle with Zone as an adult. Protective and caring, Kazumi is a maternal figure to her younger siblings.
    • Attacks/Weapon: Cutie Circle, Circle 'Puter, Circle Finish
  • Remi Hoshikawa (星川レミ Hoshikawa Remi) / Five Yellow (ファイブイエロー Faibuierō) : 20 years old, twin of Fumiya. Music teacher skilled in kung fu. Disasterous at housekeeping and cleaning, tasks she leaves to Kazumi or Arthur. Has excellent rhythm and musical sense, she is also a rhythmic gymnast and dancer, which she applies to her fighting. Teaches kids kung-fu in her spare time. In an infamous episode she got drunk when water was turned into alcohol.
    • Attacks/Weapon: Melody Tact, YellowFlute, Tact Attack

Allies

  • Arthur G6 (アーサージーシックス Āsā Jī Shikkusu): Support robot created by Dr. Hoshikawa, raised orphans into warriors on Earth. Usually he aids Fiveman from the Magmabase but at times he can fly out from base and transform into Earth Cannon, which fires a 100,000-degree super fire beam when held by Fivemen.
  • Gunther (グンサー Gunsā): Mysterious warrior who was helped by Dr. Hoshikawa and his wife when severely injured. Stole the Star Carrier ship and came to Earth. At his arrival he fought the Fiveman but eventually could make friends with Gaku. Then he gave them back the Star Carrier and helped on numerous occasions, ultimately dying near the finale. Also known as "Raging Wolf of the Galaxy".

Silver Imperial Army Zone

Alien army plotting to rule the entire Milky Way, it flies across universe attacking worlds with its Galactic Warriors. Earth will be its 1,000th destroyed planet, at which point Medor will gain eternal life. They operate from their ship Vulgyre and can send smaller battle ships called Vulgols. They use the galactic currency Dolyen which is said to be equal to 100 earth yens.

  • Milky Way Empress Medor (銀河皇帝メドー): White-skinned, silver-maned, purple-lipped, golden-eyed mystery (and somehwat supernatural being) ruler of the Zone Empire. She is only seen to be the face of a woman surrounded by a silver mane that appears from the sky and she is extremely powerful. She seeks to devour life from planets (similar to Galactus from Marvel Comics) and when the 1,000th is destroyed by her, she will gain eternal life. It's later revealed that she was just an illusion created by Vulgyre, the true ruler of Zone. Medor was really a girl who Vulgyre was in love with and that was killed after she refused to be with him.
  • Captain Garoa (ガロア艦長): Captain of Vulgyre in black and gray armor over red clothes, armed with a sword. Got scarred by Five Red as a child creating a rivalry between them. An expert swordsman, he gave problems even to Gaku, with his special technique "Taifuu Shaken" (Typhoon Spinning Sword). Although a field commander, he wouldn't show up much in fight, giving orders from Medor to the others, instead. Even though, the Sakasama Day (A single day every 20 years in which everyone in the Ship have to trade ranks), the continuing failures and the arrival of Shubalie eventually cause Garoa's dismissal. Having been assigned the janitor post, Garoa found a secret energy source which he used on a Gorlin, creating the "Big Garoan" which destroyed the Fiverobo, giving him the Captain position back. Even though he tried the hardest to succeed in his plans and, along Dongoros, was the last survivor of Zone, Garoa found his demise trapped the coffin of Medor, with his armor destroyed, in the middle of burning Dolyen bills as Vulgyre exploded in the series finale. This character resembles much of Doctor Man from Bioman including the personality, the "Big Three" (Billion, Doldora and Dongoros) and the "Bio Destroyer" (Big Garoan).
  • Galactic Swordsman Billion (銀河剣士ビリオン): Probably the best swordsman in the galaxy white-maned in white armor over blue tights. Lover of liquor and swords, he is a sadistic left-handed warrior who enjoys fighting. When he finds an even minimally weaker foe, he challenges to battle and defeats him. Won't hesitate to execute a plan even at the cost of a comrades wellfare. Billion is scheming and manipulative, most of the time using others to accomplish his goals. This can be seen in the kinds of different types of monsters and strategies he chose in contrast to Doldora and Dongoros. After being witness to Doldora's death, Billion challenged Five Red to a sword fight, ultimately losing. This battle is said to be one of the best scenes in the series. There are much similarities between Billion and characters such as Mason from Bioman or Baraba from Maskman.
  • Galactic Scientist Doldora (銀河博士ドルドラ): Scientist and weapons researcher of Vulgyre in gold scorpion-like armor over black tights, she is more of a strategist, although she has high combat levels. Also gifted for desguise, she even fooled Fumiya once. After knowing Vulgyres true identity, Doldora was fused with Zaza by Vulgyre to become BaradolGin to defeat the Fivemen and destroy the Sidon flowers in the New Town School but was destroyed. Doldora is less violent than Billion and Dongoros but no less evil. She prefers to let Zaza, her underling, do most of her battles and uses subtle tactics and deceitful monsters like Farrah in Bioman or Igam in Maskman.
  • Claw of the Galaxy Zaza (銀河の牙ザザ): Doldora's underling in black tights with purple armor. Zaza was turned into a cyborg by Doldora when just born and swore absolute servitude to her. Used to operate along Billion at times. She is rivals with Remi. Attempting to shield Doldora, Zaza was merged with her mistress to form BaradolGin in a desperate attempt to defeat Fiveman. She is much like Farrah Cat in Bioman and Fuumin in Maskman who stands by Doldora and does most of the dirty work.
  • Galactic Merchant Dongoros (銀河商人ドンゴロス): Grotesque, short, fat space merchant who enjoys making money (Dolyen bills), carries an abacus. He prefers to use brute force (which can be seen in his choice of monsters) to accomplish the job, but at times he would use subtle tactics as well. Succumbing to his ambition, Dongoros was killed in the explosion of Vulgyre as he was desperately packing all the Dolyens he could before fleeing. His character is much like Vargo in Bioman, Zulten in Turboranger and Anagmas in Maskman.
  • Former Captain Shubalie (初代艦長シュバリエ): Vulgyre's first captain. He had retired and was operating alone when he heard of Zone's struggle in Earth and returned. Eventually takes over captaincy after Garoa is dismissed becoming Five Red's rival as well as Garoa's. Armed with Barok Stick, Barok Fencer, Barok Shoot and Barok Byoot controls a black Gorlin. This self proclamed "Hero of the Galaxy" enjoys music and has a sword ability that surpasses that of Garoa's. He is scheming, sadistic as well as cool and even humorous. Uses extremely dangerous tactics against the Fivemen. In the finale Shubalie challenges Five Red to a "Chain Deathmatch" in which a chain would link them toghether until one of them died. Shubalie lost to Five Red and then Vulgyre revealed that he made Shubalie fight to death because he needed the "Energy of the most powerful death in the Galaxy" and decieved Shubalie in thinking it was Fiveman's deaths when it was really his. Shubalie's cool personality and humor remind of those of Black Prince of Bioman or Dark Knight Kiros from Maskman.
    • Milky Way Squadron Gingaman (銀河戦隊ギンガマン): A comedic all male evil Squadron of five aliens who serve Shubalie. Suspiciously resembles the Beastnoids of Bioman but play smaller parts. They have no relation whatsoever with 1998 series Seijuu Sentai Gingaman.
      • Ginga Red from planet Baikan.
      • Ginga Blue from planet Monome.
      • Ginga Black from planet Grachis.
      • Ginga Pink from planet Fujimin.
      • Ginga Yellow from planet Guringa.
  • Galactic Super Beast Vulgyre (銀河超獣バルガイヤー): True ruler of Zone. Even though being an organism, he operated as the Zone headquarters, Galactic Ship Vulgyre. Using as a screen a death girl named Medor, who he was in love with and killed, Vulgyre gave orders to Zone members. He coveted the energy of Shubalie's death in order to begin his metamorphosis from Galactic Ship to Galactic Super Beast. Destroyed Max Magma with remarkable ease. The Sidon Flowers are his weakness, using them the fiveman weakend him and was ultimately destroyed by the Super Five Robo in the finale.

  • Batzler Soldiers (バツラー兵): Black-skinned grunts with orange heads, armed with crab claws, bearing the Zone crest on their chests. They are also capable of disguising. Galactic Ninja BatzlerGin is their leader.
  • Galactic Warriors (銀河闘士): Alien monsters with appearances and abilities of earth animals. They are named with the name of the animal + Gin.
  • Combined Galactic Warriors(合身銀河闘士): Garoa developed a power up item called Franken Capsule which let him combine two Galactic Warriors, giving them the attributes of the two species.
  • Enlarging Beast Gorlin (巨大化獣ゴルリン): Giant white-skinned cyborg alien which absorbs and mimics the defeated Galactic Warriors. Even though, if the Galactic Warrior had completely died, the Gorlin won't be able to mimic it. Each Gorlin has it's serial number and there have been accidents and exceptions: Gorlin no. 13 combined itself with the Galactic Plant Sidon Demon instead of absorbing the Galactic Warrior, Gorlin no. 12 fell down while running and couldn't reach KoumoriGin before it died, Gorlin no. 36 was used by Garoa to create Big Garoan. Each Gorlin costs 10,000 Dolyen, considerably cheap given it's dimensions...
    • Black Gorlin (黒ゴルリン): Appeared in episode 30. Shubalie controls it. Instead of being an enlargement cyborg, the Black Gorlin has been modified to be a battle-type so even without absorbing a Galactic Warrior, it can fight the FiveRobo. It has laser cannons on it's shoulders. Was destroyed in the finale by two consecutive Vector Punches from SuperFiveRobo at the same time that Shubalie fell against FiveRed.
