MyNetFone Limited (ASX:MNF).[1] owns and operates Australia’s largest VoIP network[2] [3], which is also the 3rd largest interconnected voice network in the country[4]. MyNetFone provides broadband internet and cloud-based communication services to residential, business and government sectors. [5][6] [7]

The MyNetFone Group encompasses multiple brands in the Voice and Data industry including; CallStream[8], Connexus[9], PennyTel[10][11], iBoss[9], MyNetFone (retail) and Symbio Networks.[12][2][13] [14]

MyNetFone was founded in 2004 by co-founders Mr Rene Sugo (CEO) and Andy Fung (NonExec. Director & former CEO)[2]. The company was first listed on the Australian Securities Exchange [15][16] (ASX:MNF) in May 2006.[17][18]

The company was recently awarded Forbes 'Asia's Best Under a Billion' (2014) [19] and Australia’s fastest growing ASX-listed telco (Business Review Weekly Fast 100 2014) [20].

Company Background

The company was Founded in 2004[10][21] and employs around 120 staff across four states of Australia. Its headquarter are located in Sydney, NSW[11]. MyNetFone is a provider of cloud-based communication and internet services to business, government and residential sectors.[22] The company owns and operates the largest VoIP (voice over internet protocol) network in Australia[2][23], which is reported to carry more than 3 billion voice minutes annually [24] [25] [8] – accounting for 10% of total voice communications in Australia. [26] MyNetFone operates internationally as well, supplying services to Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.[27] [11][28]

Company History

In 2004 MyNetFone was co-founded by Mr Rene Sugo and Andy Fung[10]. The reached a major milestone two years later in May 2006, when it was officially listed on the Australian Securities Exchange(ASX:MNF)[29]. In August of the same year, MyNetFone expanded to provide services in New Zealand and Singapore.[15]

MyNetFone also announced in 2006 that they would offer combined VoIP and internet solutions for SME and business enterprise market.[30] In September 2006 MyNetFone acquired a new subsidiary, Board IP Pty Limited. This was the MyNetFone’s first acquisition.[27]

In 2007 MyNetFone again announced new services. The first was a mobile VOIP service, called MNF On-the-Go[31], which expended to include smartphone apps and mobile VoIP software[32]. The second service announced in 2007 was a call redirect feature called ‘Follow Me” which can redirect incoming calls to any landline or mobile number in the world[33].

In May 2008 MyNetFone launched the Virtual PBX, a hosted IP PBX services for the SME market[34]. They also began offering a SIP (session Initiation Protocol) service[35] and a VoIP only phone system.[22].

In August 2011, MyNetFone acquired Symbio Networks, Australia’s largest VoIP wholesale provider[2].

In May 2012 MyNetFone was certified by Australia’s National Broadband Network (NBN) to provide services to consumers and businesses and launched several NBN plans.[36] [37]. The NBN is an Australian government internet initiative which aims to provide the nation with greater coverage and faster streaming internet through the development of fibre Optic cabling and satellite services.[38]

In July 2012 MyNetFone was selected by the Tasmanian Government to provide its telephony services[39]. At the time, no other Australian government had begun using VoIP services for their communications.[40]

In November 2012, MyNetFone acquired CallStream, a company focused on inbound calls,[24] as well as Connexus, a business Internet service provider[8] [33]. Also in 2012, MyNetFone entered an agreement to acquire the network and wholesale business of ‘GoTalk’, a Sydney based voice carrier[9] [22]

‘PennyTel’ and ‘iVoiSys’, two Sydney-based VoIP resellers, were acquired by MyNetFone in October 2013,[11][41] followed by iBoss, a billing, operations, provisioning and central management system acquired in 2014.[42][41][43]
