Vijay Yesudas (born 23 March 1979) is an Indian classical musician and playback singer.

Vijay's known for his work predominantly in the South Indian film industry, especially Malayalam and Tamil films as well as in other Indian languages such as Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Vijay is the son of acclaimed singer K. J. Yesudas. Vijay made his debut as a singer with the Malayalam film Millennium Stars (2000). He has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Singer twice for his songs "Akaleyo nee" in Grandmaster and "Mazhakondu mathram" in Spirit (2012), and "Kolakuzhal vili" in the film Nivedyam (2007). He's known for his collaboration with music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja in Tamil cinema.

Early life

Vijay Yesudas Kattassery was born on 23 March 1979 in Madras (now Chennai) to singer K. J. Yesudas and Prabha (née: Abraham). He is the second son in the family, having an elder brother named Vinod and a younger one, Vishal. He is the grandson of stage singer Augustine Joseph. He studied in Chennai till the 9th grade and left for the US for further studies. He graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in music.[1]

Personal life

Vijay met Dharshana on 2002 Valentine's Day at a music concert in Dubai. On 21 January 2007, he married Dharshana in Thiruvananthapuram. They have a daughter named Ammeya.[2]

Career

V Vijay Yesudas started learning Carnatic music in the early 2000s. He is popular for songs sung under composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. He has collaborated with various other composers such as Dakshinamoorthy Swami, Ilaiyaraja, A.R. Rahman, Raveendran, Hamsalekha, Deva, Ouseppachan, Vidyasagar, Mani Sharma, Keeravani, and Mohan Sitara along with the new generation composers such as Karthik Raja, M. Jayachandran, Sabesh Murali, Harris Jayaraj, G.V.Prakash, D. Imman, Srikanth Deva, and Deepak Dev. He is a prominent singer in Tamil and Malayalam. He has sung 178 Malayalam and 118 Tamil songs.
