The material I removed from this article is original research. The set list has no reference, and it is just a sample, not indicative of what has been played at each show. Statements concerning which songs were played for the first time, as well as the most recent times that other songs have been played are unreferenced, and at least to some degree, incorrect. Finally, I don't think anyone would make a serious argument that "Rush is a Band Blog" qualifies as WP:RS. Thank you! 2tuntony (talk) 18:28, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As you have continued to revert me, I have posted this matter at WP:NORN. Thank you. 2tuntony (talk) 22:16, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I removed my post on WP:NORN. It's not worth pursuing, at this time. I'm going to remove "Guitar Intro", from the setlist, as well as the blog from the reflist, and hope we can leave it at that. 2tuntony (talk) 00:38, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adopt-a-user reminder

Hello, I have completed a general cleanup of the adopter information page for the adopt-a-user project, located here. During my cleanup, I have removed several inactive and retired users. In order to provide interested adoptees with an easy location to find adopters, it is essential that the page be up-to-date with the latest information possible. Thus:

  • If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, please remove yourself from the list.
  • If you are still interested, please check the list to see if any information needs to be updated or added - especially your availability. Thank you.
  • You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here.

An update from adopt a user

Hi there Wisdom89! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.

On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.

Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.

Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.

Reversions using twinkle, etc.

Just a heads up from firsthand experience: some users may find it offensive that you are reverting good faith edits in a rollback style. It may be best to just change the edit yourself. As for the specific example, the entire section is probably best deleted, as there is no source confirming that those two tracks will be on the album just as much as BU2B. — Deckiller 04:06, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reversions were indeed marked as "good faith", Dec. I didn't use the "rollback" feature of Twinkle. Cheers. Wisdom89 (T / C) 05:17, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

Hello, I am looking to be adopted and noticed you like jazz. I am mostly interested in editing jazz and film articles. Would you adopt me?--TomBondasSonofBondinBondonice (talk) 20:44, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I am also an orphan, looking to be adopted to write articles mostly on music. Any chance you might have time to help me? Currently, my first article, inspired by my famous aunt, Dorothy Harley Eber, is in need of some editing and particularly linking from other pages. I can't seem to figure out how to link from reference lists. She's an author and her books are cited several times in other articles Aharley66 (talk) 20:38, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Research into the user pages of Wikipedians: Invitation to participate

Greetings,

My name is John-Paul and I am a student with the University of Alberta specializing in Communications and Technology.

I would like to include your Wikipedia user page in a study I am doing about how people present themselves online. I am interested in whether people see themselves in different ways, online and offline. One of the things I am looking at is how contributors to Wikipedia present themselves to each other through their user pages. Would you consider letting me include your user page in my study?

With your consent, I will read and analyze your user page, and ask you five short questions about it that will take about ten to fifteen minutes to answer. I am looking at about twenty user pages belonging to twenty different people. I will be looking at all user pages together, looking for common threads in the way people introduce themselves to other Wikipedians.

I hope that my research will help answer questions about how people collaborate, work together, and share knowledge. If you are open to participating in this study, please reply to this message, on your User Talk page or on mine. I will provide you with a complete description of my research, which you can use to decide if you want to participate.

Thank-you,

No harrasment intended

-RobertGustafson (talk)

I apologize if you took what I recently did as harrasment. I hope you read what I last added here, however, before deleting it--especially the most recent part. I welcome your feedback on the 2112 (song) talk page. BTW, I intend to look for more sources to back up anything you might find questionable.

No worries. I absolutely read through what you wrote and will formulate my response once I have the time. Cheers. Wisdom89 (T / C) 07:07, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have recently added sources to back up my assertions regarding the inferring by "some listeners" of the beginning and end of the song to coincide with the beginning and end of the Federation. I am careful to qualify that Rush itself has not specified an "official" meaning. Hopefully, this new version on the talk page (as of 10/10/2011 or later) is SYNTH-free (except for minimalist tautologies perhaps); if not, you can tell me what else needs sourcing. -RobertGustafson (talk)

Hi from Wikipedian needing adoption

I am trying to read everything out there I can on how Wikipedia works but I still have some questions sometimes. :)

I am interested in the general way that Wikipedia works and particularly as a way that students can use it to sort out ideas in their research reports because I teach writing at a university sometimes).

I have a rather weird job of being the English language expert at the Bangkok Post newspaper, so I define words and phrases all the time and find Wikipedia very useful for this. I am always defending Wikipedia in little debates at work so I am aware of some of its shortcomings. I want to return to being active in Wikipedia and improve articles, especially the lead sentences. :)

I have the same favorite subject as you, namely physiology, animal physiology because I plan to study veterinary medicine in the Philippines shortly. Completely self-taught however, mostly via textbooks, audio & video on the web. I am currently writing Wikipedia article on rabbit digestive system (herbivore with hindgut fermentation)).

Anyway, I hope this is not too much info or too strange. Thanks. Fernquestjon (talk) 12:02, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Reverted "good faith" edit by GPDrums

With regards to GPDrums change: Rush (band). I found this Rush celebrates 30 years and Billboard Magazine - May 15, 2004 p.54 to support the change. Not sure it necessarily would go in that section; but, it could be added somewhere (with supporting citations). Thanks, BigJoeRockHead (talk) 20:01, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wisdom89. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved as an adopter with Wikipedia's Adopt-a-user program. A clean-up of this program is currently underway, and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is and isn't still interested in remaining an adopter.

If you would prefer not to be part of the adoption program anymore, you need do nothing; when the overhaul of the project is completed your name will be removed from the list of active adopters. However, if you have current adoptees, an active adoption school or an interest in adopting in the near future, then please let us know by signing here.

If you want to remain in the project and can currently take on more adoptees, there is a serious backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user; it would be enormously helpful if you could take on one or two of the users there. Please do keep an eye on the project for upcoming changes, we could use your opinions and your help! Yunshui  09:25, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

COULD I KINDLY ASK YOU FOR HELP WITH MY FIRST MAJOR EDIT?

I have been trying to get permission to add some important information to the North Cyprus Country Page. This is information that the government would not want mentioned in their article, but which are true events (I've already provided references and consensus). I have had 3 editors all agree the information should be added but not in it's current form.

I've submitted a seperate article on the subject, it is pending review.

However, I'd like to simply get a paragraph added to the North Cyprus Country page as the victims of this particular abuse would want to read about it and so would prospective home buyers.

The page is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Northern_Cyprus

My recommended additions are all on the subject of Kulaksiz 5 and the affect of similar cases on the whole economy. (most are signed ToZero)

THank you in advance for any help you can give me in getting this information published, even in a short summarised form.

Eleanor L. Bennett

Hello. I'm new to all this so please pardon me if I'm violating any rules of Wikipedia etiquette by contacting you here. The above article on a very accomplished young photographer is the subject of an AfD for the second time. When the original article was deleted there was a lot of bad blood between two editors and the creator of the article. The same two are calling for the deletion of the article's second incarnation, and I have serious doubts about their independence and am asking other Wikipedia editors without any history in this debate to take a look and see if the article can be saved. I am a big admirer of this young lady's work and think she fully qualifies for a listing in Wikipedia, but the two editors involved are quite immovable in their views. Would you be able to take the time to look in on the discussion? It's here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Eleanor_L._Bennett Thanks for your time. Rush (band) - added sentence to reputation

Hi wisdom89,

I have seen that you reverted the sentence I added to the Rush article regarding the british bassist Nicky Wire being a big fan of the band and would like to query your reasoning for this. I am not sure, why you feel that this doesn't belong here, when you say the sentence is "oddly out of place"? The whole paragraph refers to influences the band had on other artists and the previous sentence concerning Trent Reznor is almost exactly along the same lines than the one that was added. Is it that you have never heard of Nicky's band? If so, I can assure that the Manic Street Preachers are a very succesful rock band indeed, at least in Europe and Asia where they have a larger fanbase and sold more records than some of the other influences that are mentioned in the paragraph.

Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization consisting of over 28,000 volunteers in more than 100 countries. The collaboration was formed to organize medical scholarship in a systematic way in the interests of evidence-based research: the group conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.

Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account. Thank you Cochrane!

YYZ (instrumental)

You appear to be basing your decisions to revert changes to this article based on a policy that references which include links to YouTube are inherently unreliable. There is no such policy or guideline.

Yes a video blog posted to YouTube by someone in their basement should not considered a reliable source. However, the reliability of the source should be judged on the source itself not where video clips are hosted. The documentary in question "Rush: Classic Albums: 2112 & Moving Pictures (2010)" meets WP:RS, the fact that the clip in question is hosted on YouTube does not change the reliability of the source. Please see Wikipedia:Videos as references for more information.

Also when removing material, remove only the material that you have issue with, undoing or rolling back multiple changes should be used only in cases of vandalism. Your last rollback removed unrelated edits including one by a date format maintenance bot.--RadioFan (talk) 17:32, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edmarroquin95

Dude! What is your problem? Why are you trying to see to it that the page that I created gets deleted. Seriously, is my creation of this page a problem for you?! Am I insulting you or what?! Let me tell you something, I'm not harming anybody! All I did was create this page for fans who went to these shows so that it may bring back the happy memories of the great experiences that they had from seeing Rush during this tour! Honestly, I don't see what the harm is in that! Not only that, but you threatened to block me from editing as I'm the problem! No, no, no! I'm not the problem! I'm not doing anything! If anything, it's people like you create problems out of nothing & put on other people like me who don't deserve it & turn it around on us as if we're the problem even though we're not because if anything, you're the problem! Yeah, that's right, you! This started because you decided to put a thing so that you can see to it that it gets deleted, I mean why else would you have out it up there! And another thing, I just don't understand what the problem is! I mean why do want the page deleted?! I mean I haven't done anything wrong, and I've been honest about it all, so I just don't understand why you want the page to be deleted. If you ask me, I think it's because you got your head up where the sun don't shine! With that being said, leave the page alone, & don't ever threaten to block me!

Take a breath, dude. It's nothing personal. The page you recreated already went through a deletion discussion in the past. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rush Tour. My edit summaries politely asked you to stop removing the template multiple times until a discussion can be had regarding the fate of the article. I'm going to recommend that you familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Deletion policy. Thanks. Wisdom89 (T / C) 18:05, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hm! Really?! Nothing personal! Sounds like a huge load of bull to me! I mean come on dude, I wasn't born in a barn yesterday! If none of this was personal, then why did you patrol every page that I created as well as put up more alerts to those pages?! And on top of all that, you not only still kept putting up suggestions for deleting some of those pages but that you went as far as to request that the Moving Pictures Tour page be deleted. You see that tells me right there, that you want that page especially along with all of the other pages deleted, if not ruined, because if you didn't want them deleted &/or ruined, then you wouldn't have suggested &/or requested for those pages to be deleted to begin with! And as far as all of the reasons that I have read from the alerts, it just sounds like nothing but a bunch of bs excuses! And seriously though, what is your problem?! Do my pages offend you, because if they do, then I'd be more than happy to tell you where to shove it! And again, if you didn't have a problem with my pages, then you would requested for then to be deleted! And another thing, who do you think you are?! I mean seriously, do you think you sit on some throne or something?! Do you think you ride on a high horse of some sort?! Geez, talk about putting yourself up on a pedestal! And let me tell you something! You have no power or authority over me and I have no power or authority over you! You are not superior to me and I'm not superior to you! These pages are for people who are interested in the tour history of Rush as well as for the fans who want to remember where & when they saw whatever band it may be so that they cherish their great memories of being at a great show on any of those tours and know that where & when they saw a certain band is documented, not for snobby, pretentious, condescending little jerkwads like you to tamper, vandalize, &/or even destroy! And you know something, it's ironic how your name is Wisdom, yet I haven't seen you do one wise thing so far! So yeah maybe a name change would be nice! Hey I should put up an alert requesting that you change your name on your user page! Let's see how you like it! Anyways, I'm not the problem since I'm all I'm doing is creating valid pages legally and not harming anybody or anything while doing that! The problem is people like you have to go ahead and try ruin stuff like this not only for me, but for many others, as if it's not good enough for you or something! It wouldn't surprise me if you were trying to delete the pages that I created so that you can go ahead & recreate then without any issues so that you can go ahead and take all the credit from me so that you can look good & feel good about yourself, &/or for whatever other reason it may be for that matter! With that being said, now this will be the last time I'm going to say, because I'm not going to say this again, leave the pages alone, and better yet, leave me alone! Failure to do so would require me to report you for harassment as well as to block you from the pages! So yeah, seriously, I'm not going to ask you again, get off my damn back! Good riddance!

It is obvious to me that you have not bothered to read Wikipedia's deletion policy nor have you addressed the concerns raised in these discussions: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hemispheres Tour, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Permanent Waves Tour, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rush Tour. You are also assuming bad faith on my part regarding these articles. For the record, I am an enormous Rush fan, but that does not dissuade me from working in compliance to the guidelines of this encyclopedia. You have recreated pages which were previously deleted via discussion/consensus and that can not be improved from their original versions. They are simply not notable or significant enough. See WP:MUSIC. They have been on my watchlist for years as I was a contributor of these articles. This is why I can see your edits. I assure you, I do not care what pages you have contributed to nor do I have the time to follow you around here. Wisdom89 (T / C) 13:41, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pontine micturition center / Barrington's nucleus

Hi Wisdom89, what do you think about beefing up this Wikipedia article? I am working in a large project in Boston piecing together the afferent control of CRH neurons in the "PMC" (Barrington's nucleus), and I think I could add some useful information about the History of work dating back to Barrington's classic transections and lesions in the 1920s, as well updating neuroanatomic and functional info in the article. I am familiar with the literature and many of the people who did the seminal work since Barrington's day. I didn't want to make any changes without checking with you first. I am not a Wikipedia pro, just a scientist who feels obligated to update interesting and useful info publicly, via Wikipedia, when I see the opportunity.
