Your undoing of Duck Duck Goosee

If Duck Duck Goose (song) isn't a single, then what is it?? Is it really just a song?? Why would it need a music video then??

Music videos are promotion, they don't indicate a song is a single. --Aleccat 04:41, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Freak folk

You do believe I should link it to psychedelic folk? Aleccat (talk) 18:31, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really feel strongly about stubbing and building out a freak folk page vs. merging it with psychedelic folk, but psychedelic folk does already have mentions of freak folk on it, so the later course makes sense. I'm not too conversant with either genre, but I don't see any reason or connections to justify a merger of freak folk with anti-folk. Carter (talk) 18:51, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks for the input. Aleccat (talk) 18:52, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Symphonic Death Metal

Hello Aleccat. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Symphonic Death Metal, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Encyclopaedia Metallum says it's a subgenre (or whatever). To WP:RfD? Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 04:47, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

DRN case note

Hi, I am a volunteer the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard who has had a look at your recent case filing there, which has some problems. Its most glaring problem is that you list yourself as the only editor in the dispute: in order to have a dispute, you need to list at least two editors— yourself, and whatever other party/ parties you are having the dispute with. Without this information, and without informing those parties about the dispute, your case is probably going to be quickly closed as malformed. If you think you can fix this, please do so a.s.a.p. Also, you should be aware that DRN volunteers have no greater power than you do to move or merge an article. If you think an article should be merged, you should either consider tackling that yourself or placing merger notices on the two articles and seeing if you get any response. This process can take a month or more. DRN will not be the place to get that done, however: we handle disputes between editors and on finding ways to compromise and find consensus, not addressing issues of article titles or the technicalities of policy or guidelines. Good luck! KDS4444 (talk) 11:08, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Shether

Just letting you know that discussion of iTunes charts should not be added to Wikipedia per WP:BADCHARTS: "iTunes: Charts pertaining to only one specific retailer should not be used." As iTunes is a single retailer—yes, it is probably the biggest in the world, but is still only one site—it has a limited scope and should be avoided, in prose or wikitables. Thank you. Comments

By the way, I just saw your comments on PopCrush. From prior experience, PopCrush is generally not used and is usually considered unreliable. It's more of a tabloid magazine than a credible magazine ala Rolling Stone or Time. Regards, Carbrera (talk) 00:46, 9 March 2017 (UTC).[reply]

I think it illustrates that the release was dark pop just fine. If you'd like to help me find a different source though, that'd be great. --Aleccat 00:49, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: Read discussion on whether or not it's a credible source, guess I'll remove it. --Aleccat 00:57, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Best Coast Article

How is the artist of the album, on video, stating something specific, not a credible source? It's a video of the actual dude saying something. Can't get any more credible than that. --Mr Serious Guy (talk) 00:57, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, maybe credible wasn't the right term, but WP:YOUTUBE says there should be a discussion, as to avoid things such as copyright. It also was not cited properly. --Aleccat 01:53, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Slide genres?

Hi User:Aleccat, wondered if you can help, basically I sourced all the genres on Slide (Calvin Harris song) myself a while back, but knowing what I know now I'm not sure whether they're directly calling this song these genres or the production/or sections of the song. Can you please take a close look at these sources ([1], [2], [3]) and let me know if you think they're worded in a way that makes it appropriate to be used as genres on page? Thanks.--Theo Mandela (talk) 14:02, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Theo Mandela: The FACT source describes the song as nu-disco, so that is certainly true, and able to be put in the infobox and sourced properly. The FACT source also described the songwriting as 'pop', so you could include that, but not in the genre section of the infobox. The production is definitely described as having elements of funk, R&B, hip-hop, and pop music, so you can include those, but not in genre section of the infobox. I'm iffy on pop as a genre. Pitchfork describes it as "pop", but I think they're using it in the sense of popular music. Include nu-disco in the infobox, and just say something along the lines of: "Slide" is a nu-disco song. Its production features elements of funk, R&B, hip-hop, and pop music, while FACT has described the songwrtiting of "Slide" as "pop songwriting".

Thank you for asking me my opinion, I do appreciate it. --Aleccat 15:41, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot User:Aleccat, can you make the changes please? As I've struggled phrasing it correctly and fitting it in with everything that's already there. 👍--Theo Mandela (talk) 17:35, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Theo Mandela: Sure. --Aleccat 17:46, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@U990467: An edit you simply disagree with is not vandalism. At most it may be disruption or edit warring, but it takes two to edit war. This is not an appropriate notice. Ss112 13:26, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
With sources saying it was Christmas promotion, too. --Aleccat 13:31, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Ss112:/@Aleccat: It's not my personal opinion or something. Actually, looking more closely at the "No Better" page history, your will find that the song has been tampered as the promotional single without any reason several times. The revision when the page just passed GA review also labeled it a "SINGLE". Since the creator and nominator of the page isn't active in Wikipedia anymore, all I can do is to protect the article. So please don't bother. --U990467 (talk) 13:45, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
.....okay, if you're okay with misinformation. --Aleccat 13:53, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Melodrama (Lorde album)

Looks like Exposur is back, adding alternative pop or whatever to the article text again, without having gotten consensus on the talk page. The thing is, they're using iTunes, which has automatically generated genres (and is unreliable per WP:ALBUMAVOID) and an Idolator page, which says the album stays true to Lorde's "alt-pop" roots, which isn't explicitly calling the album alternative pop... Unexplained reverts

Hi! Is there a discussion concerning this and this anywhere? And please read WP:REVEXP. Without edit summaries, it is impossible to tell if there is a good reason for the reverts or if you just like it that way. --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:08, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Moscow Connection: I'm pretty sure the consensus has been that it is not a single because the radio date was cancelled. Previous edits explain it. --Aleccat 00:10, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you for the explanation. --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:11, 19 October 2017 (UTC

Gorgeous Single - Taylor Swift

Hey. Thanks for reverting. I was about to revert my own version than you made the move. I realized that not necessarily it may a single though a promo is scheduled to release later :) Arjann (talk)

No problem, it's cool I've done the same thing in the past. I just think it'd be too soon to say for sure as there's been minimal promo. --Aleccat 04:54, 20 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Did you even look at the emo hip hop page? It states cloud rap as a influencer and other places it states that it is a subgenre. SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 01:41, 10 November 2017 (UTC) SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 01:41, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@SuperLuigi22: I checked the source, it does not list it as a subgenre. That's totally incorrect. It basically references that some mix emo into cloud rap. That's not the same thing. --Aleccat 01:51, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, I guess I misread it. Thanks for replying! SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 02:08, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@183.171.177.33: Sorry for the late response. It's cited and already under genre; can you specify what exactly you want added to the article? --Aleccat 21:34, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Alaska Thunderfuck

Hello. I reverted your readditions to the page because they were non-rs and you didn't specify reasons for the change. I mentioned on the talk page that I followed a number of the references and they were either broken, deliberately forged, or sources that don't meet WP:RS. Some examples include one article about Nicki Minaj that was relabeled as being about Alaska, one that was labeled as being published in The Guardian when it was a Billboard URL, and content pointing to sales pages. The article has also been a victim of sock puppetry and we are trying to make sure the entries are genuinely pointing to valid content, as well as doing some ce of excessive Wikilinks. Uploading a image?

Hello there, So i have recently come across the article you helped create which was Mrs. Potato Head and i see you have uploaded the image to that article. If you don't know i recently created the articles Cry Baby and Alphabet Boy, I have tried to add images to both of those articles but they keep on getting deleted by Wikimedia which i get confused why? So i was wondering if you could tell me how you got your image across without it getting deleted. Crystalstar2007 (talk) 23:15, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
