Hi

Great to meet you today, it's really nice to chat and not work in a vacuum. Thanks also for reminding me what it's like to be new(ish) and to make me challenge some stuck in the rut ways I may have fallen into. Nthep (talk) 17:37, 11 October 2019 (UTC) Thanks for the gracious message @Nthep: it was great to meet you too - thanks for sharing your skills with us. I am hoping to run a couple of 'introduction to editing' events with the museum next month and in the Spring - if you'd like to know when they are I can let you know![reply]

I'd love to know when they are. Happy to help if I can. Nthep (talk) 14:58, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Mafory Bangoura.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Mafory Bangoura.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. My works

Hello. My works in sciences and engineering are not only in chemistry and nanotechnology. My works in philosophy including my philosophical system (netism) and my other papers are not about Islam or any other religion. I have never written about any religion. There is no review or discussion on Islam or any other religion in my paper including netism that was published here by the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia. This encyclopedia is not restricted to religion, but it also includes entries in philosophy, social sciences (history, geography, linguistics), etc. Concerning my literary works, my poem books and short story books were published by several publishers such as Novin Pajhoohesh publishing, Arvin publishing, etc. and not only one publisher as you have mentioned in the entry on my name. My art works that are not mentioned in this entry are also important parts of my works. Therefore, this entry on Wikipedia is a brief biography. Thank you for your attention. Taraneh Javanbakht (talk) 17:35, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @135.23.194.236: Thanks very much for these clarifications - do you have secondary sources to your artwork? The reason I didn't include them as I couldn't find secondary references, but I'd be really pleased to add them. Thanks very much (Lajmmoore (talk) 18:35, 17 February 2020 (UTC))[reply]
Hi @135.23.194.236: - I added a sentence and changed the detail on netism, apologies for the mistake. If you have a secondary source to Novin Pajhoohesh publisher (language doesn't matter) I'd love to add a citation. (Lajmmoore (talk) 22:33, 17 February 2020 (UTC))[reply]
My biography and reviews of my works have been published in many secondary sources that you can upload some of them from the below links:

- Radio Zamaneh:

http://archive.is/1gyl

http://zamaaneh.com/ravi/2007/05/post_93.html

- Reviews on my works:

The pdf files of journals including reviews on my works that were published in Iran:

http://javanbakht.net/Roozan-MehdiMousavi.pdf

http://javanbakht.net/Khesareh-Etemaademelli.pdf

http://javanbakht.net/Attaraan-Etemaademelli.pdf

http://archive.is/UQ4L0

You can also upload them from the list of reviews on my works that is available here:

http://javanbakht.net/en/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=31

Other secondary sources are published books and you can find their list in the below link:

http://javanbakht.net/en/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=60

You can also find other secondary sources (news agencies, newspapers, radios, etc.) from the below link:

http://javanbakht.net/en/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=9

However, I think that Wikipedia is not a real encyclopedia as most notable sources and information are censored in its entries. Thanks. Taraneh Javanbakht — Preceding unsigned comment added by 135.23.194.236 (talk) 23:03, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, here are the links of two secondary sources about my poem book including my name and the name of Novin Pajoohesh publishing:

Other publishers republished other editions of my poem books and short story books. Here is the link concerning the publication of the third edition of my other book:

Tassadit Yacine

Hello Lajmmoore, I wanted to check if Tassadit Yacine is a translation from the French article, fr:Tassadit Yacine. If so, please see Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia#Translating_from_other_language_Wikimedia_projects, and add the translated page template.

Also, I noticed that 41 articles you created are in the Special:NewPagesFeed which is quite severely backlogged. You are the editor with the highest number of unreviewed articles. I was going to make an effort to reduce that and get your submissions reviewed. That might mean a lot of repetitive feedback from me. If you're uncomfortable with that much attention from a single reviewer, please let me know and I'll move on. Vexations (talk) 23:23, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Vexations: Thanks very much for looking at Yacine's article.
  • I think I used the French page a starting point, but added a few other bits. Either way, I didn't know there was an attribution process for translations, so will go back and check other pages too. I've added the template and will go back and review some others. I agree there's way too long a bibliography - but because it was all listed on the French page, I moved it across. Will tinker with the article over the next week or so.
  • Is there a way I can see which of the articles I've worked on are unreviewed? I think my editing has improved in the last few months, but I also suspect there's some mistakes that I could fix (saving reviewers a bit of work perhaps).
  • If you'd like to work on the articles, that's really kind of you! Maybe we could start, then if gets a bit much (like you say), I could pause the process? I'm sure you realise sometimes feedback can be unintentionally demoralising. That said, there's loads of things I don't know yet and feedback is v helpful! I love the work of the wikipedia and want to improve! (Lajmmoore (talk) 09:07, 7 March 2020 (UTC))[reply]
Lajmmoore, I agree. And you did right to translate the entire page, and once that's done make edits. That way it's easy to see which version is the translation. To see a list of your unreviewed articles, you can go to Special:NewPagesFeed, click on Set Filters and select
    State: Unreviewed pages
    Type: All others
Were created by: Lajmmoore (fill in your username) and leave everything else blank.
New page review is meant for straightforward checks like copyright, but it's also a way to support new editors. We certainly don't want to demoralize a new good faith editor. All the best, Vexations (talk) 14:17, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Vexations Thanks very much for replying so quickly! I'm working on Yacine right now. One thing I can't work out how to do is to insert a template link to her Italian Wikiquote page? https://it.wikiquote.org/wiki/Tassadit_Yacine - the templates seem to revert to the English wikiquote search, which doesn't bring anything up? (Lajmmoore (talk) 20:10, 7 March 2020 (UTC))[reply]
Lajmmoore, you can prefix the page name with the language, it:. For example:
{{Wikiquote|it:Tassadit_Yacine}}
would yield

Vexations (talk) 20:55, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Vexations Thanks VERY MUCH for the tip and the advice. I've added in quite a few further references, which I think demonstrate notability better? Most of reviews of her work, by other authors? (Lajmmoore (talk) 21:38, 7 March 2020 (UTC))[reply]
Lajmmoore, thanks, yes. That's what we're looking for. I hope this review process is somewhat helpful? Vexations (talk) 21:53, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Vexations Yes - it is! Thanks for flagging the positive too - it's really appreciated! (Lajmmoore (talk) 09:46, 9 March 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Ky braids

Hi! Thanks for creating Laetitia Ky's Wikipedia page in English! It seems to me that « KY braids » are actually not her « sculptures from wire, thread and her dreadlocks », but rather the kinds of braids she started creating before starting her hair sculptures, just associating her hair with colorful Dutch wax fabric (you can find several examples here). It took a while to figure it out when I wrote her French Wikipedia page because the articles in French were sometimes confusing, but I checked her own publications in French to make sure of it. Note that she also uses this same kind of fabric in her « Kystroy » clothes.

As I'm not an English native I'm not sure about the expression « Dutch wax fabric » (one of the aliases of « African wax print » on Wikidata), and Wikipedia does not help much here, as the French page for this fabric is called « Wax (tissu) », which has no English equivalent, and the French equivalent of the English Wikipedia page « African wax prints » is actually about a kind of loincloth made with this fabric. The German wikipedia has been having a debate about merging the German equivalents of those two pages (Dutch Wax - Afrikanische Waxprints) for more than 6 years but there is still no resolution. So if you know how to write this down with the appropriate internal links on Laetitia Ky's page, or even to solve the issue about this « Dutch wax fabric », that would be great! --FreeCorp (talk) 06:57, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled user rights

Hi. As you’ve been editing for a while and produced a number of well-written and properly-sourced articles, I want to suggest that you apply for autopatrolled user rights. At the moment when you create an article it goes into the queue to be reviewed and doesn’t get indexed by search engines until a reviewer has checked it. If you become autopatrolled you don’t have to wait to be reviewed. To request this user right please see here. I see no major issues with the articles you’re creating and you’re probably ready to request this right. If you’d prefer to keep getting reviewer feedback that’s fine, just apply whenever you’re ready. As a word of advice the thing that lost me my autopatrolled status for a period was too close paraphrasing of sources that meant I risked a copyright violation. If you can avoid that, you can pick up everything else as you go along. All the best Mccapra (talk) 05:48, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much @Mccapra: I hadn't thought about this at all, so thanks for making the suggestion. I've put a request in now. Even if it's declined, it's good to have a confidence boost from another editor. (Lajmmoore (talk) 07:31, 17 May 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Hallo

Good to "meet" you yesterday! I lived in Leeds till moving to rural Lancashire to care for my Mother (and worked at Uni Library for many years), so have edited bits and pieces of Leeds stuff over the years. Now I just dip into whatever takes my fancy, as a retired layabout, and tend to get lured off down time-sink rabbit-holes on a wide range of topics. See my page creation list on my user page: I'm really glad I've kept that list over the years as otherwise I'd have no recollection of why I created some of those pages. They tend to be solidly-source, well-cross-referenced little stubs, enough to help the reader get access to some good sources of info on the topic. PamD 12:09, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @PamD: it was really nice to "meet" you too! I really enjoy editing - it's really fun to get stuck into a topic or a person. One of my goals is to work on more Leeds articles, especially women linked to the city. Looking forward to seeing your next articles. (Lajmmoore (talk) 07:25, 18 May 2020 (UTC))[reply]

This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 19:27, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Swarm: - thanks very much! I've got the hang of templates (I think) and categories (kind of), but I'm not in a habit with stub-tags and ratings. Will have a look at the guides and the links you sent. Cheers and thank you for the offer of help - it's really appreciated. (Lajmmoore (talk) 07:29, 18 May 2020 (UTC))[reply]
Apropos of categories, do you know about the lovely little template {{L}}? It has to be substituted, but in just one line of typing you get the birth and death cats and the DEFAULTSORT (eg getting Branka Raunig to sort under "R" not "B"). If someone is living, it adds the Category:Living people. For example {{subst:L|1935|2008|Raunig, Branka}}. If someone is alive, leave out the death date; if dead but no date availabe, add "missing" or "unknown" as appropriate. If no birth date either, then {{subst:L|||Poppins, Mary}} would create "Living people" and "date of birth missing (living people)" categories as well as the sort key. It's good value in results per keystroke! PamD 07:52, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
