[edit]

As per discussion at AfD I have reviewed and summarized the current sources, and added confirmation with English refs. That work is posted below. I will be using this to rewrite the article in NPOV wiki voice over the next hours. Ayenaee (talk) 16:53, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

מגיעים בטנדר, פורקים - וטובחים: תיעודים מהזוועות במתקפת חמאס

10 October 2023

Hebrew, in current article Squad of dozens of Hamas militants raided Moshav Yachini in the morning. Security camera footage shows them arriving in a van, and entering the moshav through a side gate because the main gate was locked. Two young woman run out and shelter behind a car as they are shot at by a militant. They are subsequently saved by IDF soldiers. One of them appears to be limping.

After entering the moshav the militants killed 4 people and later an additional 3 men. Included in the dead were an 18-year-old young man, a man in his home and another man walking his dog. Moshav Chief Rabbi Ariel Zahavi heard about the raid while on holiday in Baku. He manageed the moshav’s response remotely. According to Zahavi the eighteen person protection team, armed with pistols and only one automatic weapon, were unable to defend the moshav against the militants’ kalashnikovs. The militants were eventually killed by teams from the YAMAM and Sayeret Matkal IDF units.

English, replacing current Hebrew, same source Yehonatan Hajabi, the 18 year old who was killed, was the son of reserve Lieutenant Colonel Nir Hajabi who was on holiday in Baku at the time of the attack. He and some of his brigade ensured that Yehonatan’s brother and mother who also lived in Yakhini were taken to safety.

Rewrite complete

[edit]
  • Rewrite completed and live. Following changes made
- Citations updated and added to. There are now 4 out of 7 English citations with summaries of Hebrew citations given on this page.
- Text rewritten in NPOV and wiki voice to align with citations
- Citations given for deaths and injuries
- Infobox updated
  • In terms of AFD, citation needed, and NPOV tags:
- I have provided additional refs, clarified Hebrew refs, and aligned text to refs. I have rewritten the article in a neutral way only referencing exactly what is said in the refs. I believe the citation/NPOV tag can now be removed, but will leave that for others.
- I don’t believe that the article meets AfD requirements anymore. The article is notable because of the deaths on all sides mentioned in more than one citation. It’s also notable because of the video which was reported by media worldwide. This article is now of the same wiki standard as the other articles (on Gaza, West Bank, and Israel) which provide more detail on specific incidents
  • If there are minor corrections (spelling, grammar, formatting etc) you want to make please make them directly to the article.
  • Any other changes should be brought to this talk page for discussion and consensus. I don’t think WP:BRD will work on these kinds of page because of their sensitive nature and misunderstandings that can occur (IMHO not a wiki rule).

I wish everyone peace and good editing Ayenaee (talk) 22:41, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The New York Post is listed as "generally unreliable" on the Perennial Sources list:

Thanks - I’ll see what else I can find (and look at the list 😏) Ayenaee (talk) 23:14, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’ve replaced NYP with 2 refs:
- One reflecting video events in English
- One agreeing with ynet that number of deaths was 7 (NYP reflected 4, so article said 4-7, but I’ve replaced this with 7 only now)
I’ve also updated ref table above. Thanks for the heads-up. Ayenaee (talk) 15:04, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
