WWE is an American professional wrestling promotion based out of Stamford, Connecticut. Title reigns are either determined by professional wrestling matches or are awarded to a wrestler, as a result of the culmination of various scripted storylines.

WWE promotes three primary brandsRaw, SmackDown, and NXT.[1] Specialty brands in WWE include 205 Live – for male wrestlers 205 lbs. and under (designated by WWE as cruiserweights) – and NXT UK, which is for wrestlers based in the United Kingdom.

Raw, SmackDown, and NXT each have a primary and secondary championship for male wrestlers, a singles championship for female wrestlers, and a tag team championship for male wrestlers. There is also one tag team championship for female wrestlers that is shared between the three brands. There is one championship for the cruiserweight wrestlers that is shared between NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live, which is the only championship with a weight limit in the promotion, and one male singles, one female singles, and one male tag team championship for NXT UK wrestlers. There is also one tertiary championship, which is accessible to anyone, regardless of gender or WWE status.

There are currently 18 championships in WWE. Among the five current brands, 23 wrestlers hold the championships as of May 15, 2024. The list includes the number of times the wrestler has held the title, the date and location of the win, and a description of the winning bout.

Current champions

Men's singles

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy for male wrestlers are the WWE Championship on Raw, the Universal Championship on SmackDown, and the NXT Championship on NXT — all designated as world championships. The WWE Champion is Brock Lesnar, who is in his fifth reign. He won the title by defeating Kofi Kingston during SmackDown's 20th Anniversary on October 4, 2019.[2] The Universal Championship is held by Braun Strowman, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Goldberg on night one of WrestleMania 36 on April 4, 2020 (taped March 25, 2020).[3] The NXT Championship is held by Adam Cole, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: XXV on June 1, 2019.[4]

Secondary titles for male wrestlers include the United States Championship on Raw, the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown, and the NXT North American Championship on NXT. The United States Championship is held by Andrade, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Rey Mysterio at a WWE Live event on December 26, 2019.[5] The Intercontinental Championship is held by Sami Zayn, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Braun Strowman in a 3-on-1 Handicap match also featuring Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura as Zayn's partners on March 8, 2020 at Elimination Chamber—Zayn won the title since he pinned Strowman. The North American Championship is held by first-time title holder Keith Lee, who defeated Roderick Strong on the January 22, 2020 episode of NXT.[6]

Men's tag team

Tag team championships for male wrestlers include the Raw Tag Team Championship, the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, and the NXT Tag Team Championship. The Raw Tag Team Championship is held by The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford), who are in their first reign as a team and individually. They won the title by defeating Seth Rollins and Murphy in a Now or Never match on the March 2, 2020 episode of Monday Night Raw.[7] The SmackDown Tag Team Championship is held by The Miz and John Morrison, who are in their first reign as a team and second for The Miz individually. They won the titles by defeating The New Day's Big E and Kofi Kingston at Super ShowDown on February 27, 2020. The NXT Tag Team Championship is held by The BroserWeights (Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne), who are in their first reign. They defeated The Undisputed Era's Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly at TakeOver: Portland on February 16, 2020.

Specialty

The WWE 24/7 Championship is a tertiary championship shared across all five brands and is open to anyone regardless of gender (including non-WWE personnel). It can be defended anytime, anywhere, as long as a WWE referee is present. The current champion is Mojo Rawley, who is in his seventh reign. He won the title by pinning R-Truth on a pillar at night one of WrestleMania 36.

The NXT Cruiserweight Championship is the only championship of the 205 Live brand and is also defended on NXT and NXT UK. It is for wrestlers 205 lb (93 kg) and under (referred to as cruiserweights); the only championship in WWE with a weight limit. The title is held by Jordan Devlin, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating former champion Angel Garza, Travis Banks, and Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, who Devlin pinned, in a fatal four-way match at Worlds Collide on January 25, 2020.[8]

Women's

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy for female wrestlers are the Raw Women's Championship, the SmackDown Women's Championship, and the NXT Women's Championship — all designated as world championships. The Raw Women's Championship is held by Becky Lynch, who is in her first reign. She won the title in a Winner Takes All triple threat match involving former champion Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair (who defended the SmackDown Women's Championship) at WrestleMania 35 on April 8, 2019.[9] The SmackDown Women's Championship is held by Bayley, who is in her second reign. She won the title by defeating Charlotte Flair on SmackDown on October 11, 2019.[10] The NXT Women's Championship is held by Rhea Ripley, who is in her first reign. She won the title by defeating Shayna Baszler on the December 18, 2019 episode of NXT.[11]

The Women's Tag Team Championship is the only tag team championship for female wrestlers in WWE, and is shared between the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT brands.[12] It is held by Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross from SmackDown, who are in their second reign. They won the title by defeating The Kabuki Warriors Asuka and Kairi Sane on night one of WrestleMania 36 on April 4, 2020 (taped March 25, 2020).[13]

UK

The top title of NXT UK is the NXT United Kingdom Championship. It is held by Walter, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Pete Dunne at TakeOver: New York on April 5, 2019, ending Dunne's reign at 685 days.[14] The NXT UK Women's Championship is held by first-time title holder Kay Lee Ray, who won the title by defeating Toni Storm at TakeOver: Cardiff on August 31, 2019.[15] The NXT UK Tag Team Championship is held by Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang), who are in their first reign.
