Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, better known by his artist name "Bad Bunny", was born on San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the 10th of March in 1994. He is a singer and composer of Latin Hip-Hop, rap, trap, and other urban rhythms. He is known for the creative way of making his music and for being different than others, like the way he dresses and acts. He is the author of most of his music and the melody of his music, he has a different style than other Latin singers in the same industry he is in, they are common, and meanwhile, he stands out for his different ways.

His artistic name surge from a memory of his childhood, when Benito had to dress as a Bunny which he disliked and because of his face of rejection towards the custom the other kids started calling him "the bad bunny". He learned to accept the name and decided to use it as his artistic name when he realized how famous he was becoming. https://www.buenamusica.com/bad-bunny/biografia https://www.thefader.com/2018/08/28/bad-bunny-cover-story-conejo-malo-interview

Sexuality?

Is he genderqueer? HRKent444 (talk) 17:26, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Gender variant or gender nonconforming. I guess those terms would apply. As for his sexuality, he identifies as heterosexual. I haven't seen anything which would indicate otherwise. 144.178.0.204 (talk) 04:50, 11 August 2019 (UTC) Darwin[reply]

Personal Life

I'm not sure that the description given in "Personal Life" is accurate. "Estamos Bien" is a song dedicated to the victims of Hurricane Maria, and its title/lyrics point more to a spirit of collective resiliency moreso than how Bad Bunny is doing (it's 'Estamos Bien', not 'Estoy Bien'). He discusses its political meaning more in his TV debut for the song on Jimmy Fallon. The citation, #79, links to an hour and a half long interview with no indication for where to listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6obyXYrr_gQ (Ydrach, Chente (December 24, 2018). "La Única Entrevista Que Bad Bunny Va a Dar – Masacote" (in Spanish). Retrieved June 9, 2019 – via YouTube.) I would like to see a better source for this or see it removed from the article.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Rbutterfield (talkcontribs)

Activism

Throughout Bad Bunny's career, he always used his platform to bring awareness on the 'Machismo' topic that goes on in the Latino community. He uses his fashion statements and makes sure to include it in his speeches at award shows. On October 14th, 2020, Bad Bunny was awarded with the Top Latin Artist award. Giving out his speech, Bad Bunny brings out awareness to stop the 'Machismo and Misogmy Culture' in the Latino Community by stating in his speech to stop the sexist violence against women and to start educating now and in the present to have a better future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lauraoval641 (talkcontribs) 17:06, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing this real soon. I only know Bad Bunny by name, so I hope this will be a completely subjective review, (talk) 04:06, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

  • Any specific information on the record label that he was first signed to?
  • breakthrough single "Soy Peor" Did it chart on any chart?
  • Ditto with the popular singles
  • I don't think you need to indicate the Vega Baja municipality as it's not considered notable
  • For the infobox: keep birth place in the format (city, country), neighborhood should be excluded

Early life

  • Link salsa, merengue, ballad (or any music genre wherever possible)
  • Is Bad Bunny mostly known as a rapper or a singer? If he is well known as both, I would suggest avoiding elegant variations such as "the rapper", "the singer"... Keep it either "Martinez" or "Bad Bunny", wherever possible

Career beginnings

  • YouTube views should not be included
  • Be consistent with either "remix" or "re-mix"
  • We should include that he just won the Best Artist of the Year in 2022 at the 2022 VMA Awards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by David1mac (talkcontribs) 18:55, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Int'l success

  • hit number-one → hit number one
  • It says that "Mia" peaked at number 5, but the lead says that it peaked at number 3. Please revise this
  • The Instagram bit can be removed because it's trivial
  • Avoid unattributed quotes i.e. "windswept 80s stadium rock" (see WP:ATTRIBUTION)
  • Link Alexis Petridis
  • including specially-priced student tickets isn't this a common practice? I'd suggest removing it
  • The chemistry between the two was so strong "The chemistry" is confusing. Do you mean the working relationship or their performance on the song?
  • The song garnered 2.5 million views on YouTube within a day of its release.[42] Trivia

More coming soon. In the meantime, feel free to proceed @Basilisk4u:. (talk) 04:11, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

YHLQMDLG, Las que no iban a salir and El Último Tour Del Mundo

  • Bad Bunny announced the album YHLQMDLG on February 27, 2020, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Is this necessary?
  • at the time is vague and should be replaced with i.e. as of (...)
  • The album title was first mentioned during a sequence of the accompanying music video Again, not really relevant to this article. This can be discussed at the album's article, but not here
  • Songs from the album were played on an Instagram live stream Again, not significant/relevant to this article
  • third solo studio album (fourth overall) Las que no iban a salir vs. third studio album, El Último Tour Del Mundo This is confusing

Artistry

  • The samples are too long (per WP:NFCC non-free audio samples should be no longer than 10% of the original song). Take "Si Veo a Tu mama", for example, the sample should be maximum 17 seconds because the original length is 2:50

The rest of the article looks good. Putting this on hold for seven days until my concerns are addressed, (talk) 03:50, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Occupation for Bad Bunny

Can anybody here please change Bad Bunny's occupations to "singer, rapper, and songwriter" and "Singer ⋅ rapper ⋅ songwriter" in the infobox? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:197:C17F:C7A0:519C:5EDE:F590:AEE8 (talk) 19:49, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Bunny Label needs to be fixed when you search Bad Bunny Label'

Hello, If you guys search for "Bad Bunny Label" on google you will get Universal Music result when in reality his label is called "Rimas Entertainment LLC " . I don't know why google picks up Universal even tho Rimas is the first on the list. Could it be because Universal is the only one with a hyperlink ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcastrillo (talkcontribs) 21:34, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hakken, the singer's period of activity begins since 2013, there are several references that support this, first, in the same Wikidata it says that his souncloud account was made in May 2013, here you can see it, second, there are references from twitter citing to the singer and his souncloud account (which used to be called @benobadbunny), the source is here, copy this link from the pair and give it search and it will direct you, twitter.com/search?q=Bad%20Bunny%20%22Bad%20Bunny%22%20until%3A2014-12-31%20since%3A2014-01-01&src=typed_query, third, there are souncloud songs published in 2015 also as "La Vida", you can check it here, with all this, what do you say about it? Text is too long

The text of the article, as I type this, contains more than 9,000 words. It's just too long. There is so much detail, it practically reads like a diary or notes for a biography. In biographies, we're supposed to be selective; otherwise, there would be no end to the verbiage. Concerned or involved editors, I suggest, should take a somber and careful look and decide which parts need trimming - because, as it stands, it is a lot bigger than many bios of better known artists in the same milieu, for instance, Ice Cube's entry. The text's also contaminated with fluff, e.g. "His fashion sense has been noted by the media," "his quirky social media presence," etc. -The Gnome (talk) 14:29, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Some improvement accomplished. Remains the trimming of the overflowing "until today" section. -The Gnome (talk) 17:11, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is it necessary to list U.S. in birthplace?

Other articles about Puerto Ricans such as Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee, or Ricardo Rosselló do not include "U.S." after Puerto Rico. Template:Infobox musical artist#Birth place doesn't make it clear about territories like Puerto Rico. Arbor to SJ (talk) 06:47, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, but those other articles you're talking about should include U.S. after Puerto Rico because then again it's not like Puerto Rico is its own country, and there doesn't seem to be any reasoning either on why "U.S." shouldn't be included after Puerto Rico 🤣 Tommyvercetti098 (talk) 23:44, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Belongs to, but is not part of" is one hell of a slippery road. In any case, since Bad Bunny is an outspoken supporter of independence for Puerto Rico and has been targeted by paid accounts belonging to the pro-statehood party since he was involved in the 2019 ousting of a PNP governor, such an inclusion may be politically motivated or perceived as such. Most of the young people that follow BB in PR do not seem to cherish that it is not "its own country", and will likely act in response to anything that they perceive to be biased. As it is widely redundant and potentially inflammatory, its best to just let it be, the link will be enough for someone interested in the happenings concerning the status of PR to figure things out.
