Semi-protected edit request on 9 June 2023 - Update and improve information on chatbots and their impact in the e-commerce industry

Change:

In August 2022, WhatsApp launched an integration with JioMart, available only to users in India. Local users can text special numbers in the app to launch an in-app shopping process, where they can order groceries.[1]

To:

In May 19, 2022, Meta announced the global public availability of the cloud-based platform, enabling businesses of all sizes worldwide to directly connect with WhatsApp through the WhatsApp Cloud API.[2] Chatbots on WhatsApp have emerged as a prominent reference channel for consumers, establishing themselves as an integral part of the omnichannel e-commerce experience.[3]

Change product definition from "service" to "app"

I propose changing the product definition from "service" to "app". WhatsApp is an App.

WhatsApp (also called WhatsApp Messenger) is a freeware, cross-platform, centralized instant messaging (IM) and voice-over-IP (VoIP) service App owned by United States tech conglomerate Meta Platforms.

This becomes more specific. If you are on the internet, and you read the Wikipedia, you know what an app is. The word "App" should be considered common tongue.

The different, internet based, service-categories, that do exist today, are already confusing enough. We have stuff like serverless servers (https://www.google.com/search?q=serverless) and command line apps (https://charm.sh/). WhatsApp is clearly an App (it says so in the name). WhatsApp can be installed on some platforms with a terminal like `winget.exe install whatsapp.whatsapp` on Windows. But mostly WhatsApp is pulled from an App-store. I am also quite sure that the web version of WhatsApp will be replaced with a Progressive Web App in the foreseeable future, which is another App distribution format. Request: add "whatsappborea" meme to controversies

There has been reports of a meme called "whatsappborea", which mirrors Nazism to WhatsApp, replacing many Nazi symbolism and terminology with WhatsApp, while labeling FaceBook Messenger as "cabel". The hashtag has since been removed by TikTok.

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Cannolis (talk) 06:20, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Change website

The WhatsApp official website is at whatsapp.com. The current url is api.whatsapp.com 2A02:C7C:D7AB:5E00:CDF3:A9BC:D9D4:A794 (talk) 17:00, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WhatsApp editnotice?

Since the editnotice is template-protected and the talk page redirects here, would it be possible to add a message about not posting private information to the talk page? A lot of people somehow mistake this for customer support and end up posting their own phone numbers (or sometimes emails) there. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 18:58, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've semi-protected the talk page. I like your suggestion, but I don't believe a stronger edit notice will help – people tend not to see edit notices when editing from a mobile device. – bradv 19:02, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Didn't know about that last thing, still thanks! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 19:11, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

TokTok

@‪ASpacemanFalls‬, this article is about Whatsapp not about TokTok? The content is irrelevant. ☆SuperNinja2☆ TALK! 04:32, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
