Welcome to OhanaUnited's talk page.
Please read the following before making a comment in my talk page.

  • If you leave a message here, I will reply in your talk page.
  • I do not watchlist your talk page, unless you explictly indicate it clearly in your message. I also don't cross-post your message because I feel this is redunant.
  • Comments which are rude, uncivil, or constituting a personal attack will be ignored and/or removed without advance notice.
  • If you come here to complain or rant about why I delisted an Good Article (GA) that you like/created/contributed, head over to this page. I have the same feeling as one of my favourite Wikipedia editor/administrator, LaraLove, towards how we got attacked by editors who object our delisting action.
  • Because I find it difficult to follow a conversation with anonymous, IP users, in addition to the possibility of dynamic IP address, I may not always respond to these editors' comments. While not necessary, it may help if you create an account.
  • Please sign and date your entries by inserting ~~~~ at the end.

How do you know the author/uploader of File:Porter_Ferry.JPG intended it to be licenced under the copyright licence that you attached to the file with this edit? Are you clairvoyant or did the uploader tell you this was his wish? ww2censor (talk) 05:54, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Featured portal question

I saw you are the one that most often responds to portal questions so I thought I would just ask you. How long does a portal need to be receiving regular updates before it can be submitted as a featured portal? Portal:United States hadn't been updated for a while and I am in the process of updating it and have gotten positive results from several of the US related projects to submit content on a regular basis so within the next month or so we should have it set and be on a regular schedule. if you have any other advice for this portal that would be greatly appreciated as well. I think for the most part the portal is solid it just needs some updated content but I am rather new to portal stuff so Im not 100% sure of the requirements. --Kumioko (talk) 15:45, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I added a couple pictures and a ton of other things. I also tagged all 700 pages with the new United States Portal category that was created. Not 100% sure what you mean about statistics though. --Kumioko (talk) 03:48, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Got it thanks. I updated a bunch but I keep finding more (and probably will continue to do so for the next couple weeks. Please let me know if you have any more suggestions or feel free to make the changes yourself if you want. I'm not too proud to accept help. Cheers--Kumioko (talk) 04:04, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you don't need to worry about protecting images on ITN, because Template:In the news is cascade protected, so anything transcluded onto it (like images or templates) is automatically full protected, but is unprotected as soon as it's removed. GV task force

Hi. I wonder if we could update Template:WikiProject Environment to include a "supported by the Green vehicle task force" option. Thanks. Johnfos (talk) 19:50, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've made more changes than I anticipated, especially here, so please check to see that you are happy with them. Thanks. Johnfos (talk) 03:45, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, finished now thanks. Johnfos (talk) 04:57, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the meeting is on! You said you were interested in attending an informal meeting with Sue Gardner while she was visiting in Toronto, and the plans have been firmed up. The event will be Sunday evening at the Linux Caffe from 6-8 pm on Sunday, Feb. 6.

If you have a moment, please add your name to the attendees list at Wikipedia:Meetup/Toronto/February 06 2011! - Amgine (talk) 03:38, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Contents pages navigation proposal

A proposal to add topical links to all of the contents pages has been made. As part of that proposal, the navigation bar at the top of these contents pages would look like this.

Please respond to the proposal, Portal talk:Contents#Adding topical links to contents pages navigational headers and footers, as you see fit. Regards, RichardF (talk) 15:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Creating accounts for students

Thanks! That was what I was looking for. I submitted a request via the request for permissions/account creator link you sent me. That is the right I was looking for. Thanks again for your help, and sorry it took me a bit to reply. Once the school week starts, things get crazy. Best, Roseclearfield (talk) 02:43, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive Editing by Blake1960

Hi,

Blake1960 has been engaging in disruptive editing on Chevrolet Volt, Miles per gallon gasoline equivalent, and my talk page. He hasn't stepped over 3RR yet, but he is on the edge. I don't want to engage in an edit war, so I am stepping away from the battling. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ebikeguy (talk) 06:35, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help. I hope he cools off. I should probably cool off too. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 04:59, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
He appears to be spooling up again, and I want to avoid involvement this time because I seem to be the main target of his wrath. His recent edits have involved yet another personal attack against me. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ebikeguy (talk) 20:15, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ANI for Blake1960

Hi,

I have created an ANI notice related to Blake1960's recent editing behavior:

Please contribute if you like. Ebikeguy (talk) 19:42, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of March. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 50. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, we hope we can see you in March. MuZemike delivered by MuZebot 00:06, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IRC invitation

Because I have noticed you commenting at the current RfC regarding Pending Changes, I wanted to invite you to the IRC channel for pending changes. If you are not customarily logged into the IRC, use this link. This under used resource can allow real time discussion at this particularly timely venture of the trial known as Pending Changes. Even if nothing can come from debating points there, at least this invitation is delivered with the best of intentions and good faith expectations. Kind regards. Orphaned non-free image File:The Hong Kong Jockey Club.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:The Hong Kong Jockey Club.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 06:10, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

semi-protection of Wall-Mart

Hi, in September 2010 you semi-protected the Wall-Mart article, which is fine by me. However, it means that nobody but administrators can move the article. As the official company name is Wallmart since 2008, there are several requests on the talk page for a switch move, so Wallmart becomes the main article address, while Wall-Mart becomes an alias reference. Currently it's the other way around.

Perhaps you could unprotect it, do the move and then re-protect it? I'm sure the regular editors then will clean it up accordingly.

Best regards, Thomas Blomberg (talk) 11:12, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Walmart...

Hi again! Thanks for that re-direct. Unfortunately, it was the wrong one, because I made a mistake, which probably confused you. The old company name and the current article name is Wal-Mart (with one "l", not Wall-Mart with two, which I wrote). The article name should be Walmart (one "l" and without a hyphen), as that's how the company writes its name since 2008.

What confused things, is that my two misspellings (Wall-Mart and Wallmart) already exist as redirects to Wal-Mart, Obviously, the Wall-Mart redirect isn't semi-protected, as you pointed out, but Wal-Mart is.

So, if you could unprotect Wal-Mart and then move the article to Walmart (and then semi-protect it again, if you want), that would be great. If you let me know when it's done, I'll sort out the old redirects and change the beginning of the article to reflect the article name.

I just added autoconfirmed pending changes protection to Toronto Pearson International Airport only to find you removed it nine days ago with the summary "no PC until things are settled." I guess I'm not sure what the specific issue that was needing to be settled was or if it has been. Either way, feel free to reverse my action if you feel it is necessary.
