Sebastian Pinera

Please do not use Wikipedia as a political tool. That said, please do not remove factual information or add defamatory statements as facts. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neon Sky (talkcontribs) 03:42, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is factual information with verifiable references. The paragraph addresses the political campaign within the field of mass communications. Please do not insist on reverting informaton without a legitimate reason; large-scale removals are considered vandelism (edit warring). You are dangerously close to breaking the three-revert rule and having your account blocked. --Neon Sky (talk) 02:53, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please include comments in the discussion page when placing a POV. This allows for dialogue leading towards a clean solution. According to your notes on the article itself, I see your direct concern was in regards to a missing citation for the comparison made between Pinera and Obama. That has now been updated and I sincerely believe this solves the issue. --Neon Sky (talk) 05:26, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. It dawned on me that your issue was with a missing citation on one sentence. I consider your deleting the entire paragraph unnecessary. In the future, it would be less extreme and more constructive to the evolution of the article to address concerns in the discussion page. --Neon Sky (talk) 05:42, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. please don't distort anymore about South Korea's GDP PER CAPITA. According to CIA, in 2009, South korean GDP was 832500000000.( https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ks.html). Then, split by South korean population in 2009(48,508,972, CIA's, and US Federal cencus are same each other), the result is about 17,161. Don't distort anymore about South Korean' GDP. If you go ahead, I'll form public opinion in S.Korean internet Site.

You have inisited on making unfavorable changes to the page of Sebastian Pinera; first by deleting information and now by updating unattractive images of the candidate. Please stop vandlising said page. This is your final warning.--Neon Sky (talk) 04:56, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When you edit the article, there is a note that says "Per the guidelines Wikipedia:NC-TW#Republic of China, Taiwan, and variations thereof, names here are NOT to be changed." I didn't put it there and I don't know who did. But if you follow the link you'll find (actually, directly above the linked to section):

Generally following the established convention of alphabetizing countries under their common names, the Republic of China (i.e. Taiwan) should be alphabetized under "T" while the People's Republic of China should be alphabetized under "C". The former can be listed, depending on context, either as "Republic of China (Taiwan)" or "Taiwan (Republic of China)".

I've seen other situations where a sort was handled by explicitly stating what the sort should be with an attribute or some kind of tag, but I don't know what the syntax is or whether it would work in this kind of table. If it did we could still call it "Republic of China (Taiwan)" and then state explicitly what the sort should be. Although to be honest, since the economy is more tied to the country than to the government, and ROC is really a government name, "Taiwan (Republic of China)" makes more sense to me. But I know there are others who disagree and prefer "Republic of China (Taiwan)". Either will work but most people know the country as "Taiwan" so that should be the how it is sorted so people trying to find it using alpabetical order will be able to. Latin America

As much as we appreciate your contribution here in Wikipedia, I must remind you that all edits need to have a valid source. Some of the edits done in the Latin america article, especially those in the Economy section are not being backed by a valid source. All edits will be deleted and reverted, unless you can provide a valid source. Jesusmariajalisco (talk) 17:29, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great job on the edits for the Latin America article. My apologies for assuming bad faith. The only part I am having a problem with is the GDP per capita? According to the Article for example Mexico City per Captita 2008 is 20.4 million, Sao Paulo 20.3 Buenos Aires 28.0 Rio de J. 16.9 on page 22. But in the article you have those figures different, can you explain it please. Thanks.

Latin America

Hi! I am having a little problem in the article Latin America with editor SamEV about Brazilian demographics. The main article about Brazil explains that the "Pardo" population is a a broad category that includes sub-categories such as the Mullattoes, Caboclos (known as "Mestizos" in Hispanic-America) and Cafuzos (known as "Zambo" in Hispanic America). In the Latin America article there is a table that says that 39.1% of Brazilian population are "mulatto" when the correct should be "Pardo". I explained that carefully in the talk page (See Talk:Latin America#Conflict with editor SamEV) but editor SamEV not only ignored my remarks but insist on reverting all my edits. I also tried to reach his in his own talk page but he simply erased my message. That is not a helpful behavior of his. I should had simply requested to an administrator to block him per the 3 eevert rules and asked for an arbitration since his behaving as his owns the article. However, I want to avoid that since the issue is something very simple, that is, nothing more than to clarify the table that present Brazilian demographics. As it is know, it says that there are 0% Caboclos or Mestizos (the majority of the population in Northern Region, Brazil, Northeast Region, Brazil and Central-West Region, Brazil) and 0% Cafuzos or Zambos. Could you, please, share your thoughts about it in the article talk page? Thank you very much, --Lecen (talk) 10:42, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User:Pristino/List of countries by income quintiles of GNI (PPP) per capita. I saw this page linked from your main user page. I hope you put this out as a list article in some form.

A simpler name might help comprehensibility. Maybe something like this:

"List of countries by average income per quintile"

Maybe break it up into 2 tables on the same page, or on separate pages. See also this chart. --Timeshifter (talk) 09:36, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Household Income Page

Dear Sir,

Why are you trying to change my page on HH income? First you eliminate the median part and you use the wrong PPPs. Perhaps you can help me make the page more attractive through the graphics, like in putting the median and mean all in the same table?

Thanks,

Name

Hi, I think Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad is a suitable name based on google hits. We know it was a hideout, just compound is not informative enough as he likely had several in the past. I think this is fine now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:37, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The reason why I've added in Abbottabad is because a man of bin Laden's stature would have had several if not tens of compounds and safehouses over the years. There was a notable one in Khartoum hwich if started would be Osama bin Laden's compound in Khartoum. You are right the word compound must be in the title as its what the media almost entirely refer to it as.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:48, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Final compound though would be awkward. I'm sure compound in Abbottabad is obvious enough to anybody searching for it. If you did have others which become know then it will be clarified at the top of the article, no problems.

The article List of countries by net exports has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Improper synthesis (Source data is for imports/exports) of data with questionable notability. Relies on one "source" for the numbers

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hasteur (talk) 19:04, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

One more little thing; please could you start filling in the edit summary each time you make a change. If you look at the history, you'll see why - it's quite clear what others were doing, but it's hard to guess what each of your edits was.

There's an option in Special:Preferences (under 'editing) to "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" - you might want to check that.

Relevance

The relvance of this [3] is that there a big difference of being indegnous people living in your ancestral land than being a newcomer. A Mapuche in Tiera del Fuego will be a colonizer rather than a true native which would be the case of an Ona or Yaghan. This is a small but yet important difference. About CIA GDP (Nominal) per capta data

Hi, Prisitno. I just saw the changes you did in CIA GDP (Nominal) per capta list. Data for West Bank was wrong since I didn't add the Gaza Strip. Ok with that. Cook Islands shouldn't be ranked indeed. It was ranked before and I didn't check that when I updated the data. Ok too. About EU data, I took the population from US Census Bureau because I thought CIA had updated all the population data to 2011, but seems like some few was kept with 2010 data. Ok with too, since the primary reference in this case is the factbook. But still, that is something that bugs about CIA factbook. They just don't seem to give much attention to data accurace. I mean, they state on the population field listing and ranking that the figures are given by the US Census Bureau and still they keep different figures from that of the source they use. One possibility is that they sort of have a huge lag in updating some data and maybe the US Census Bureau changed that some time before but CIA stick with the old data. Whatever, just out of curiosity I tried taking their GDP (PPP) and population figure for the EU to do the math and compare with their figure for GDP (PPP) per capita. Guess what? They didn't match!! And it's not a little enough difference to be blamed at rounding errors. I've already seen various cases like that in the factbook before. But still, let that be. I really desagree of only one change you did. The change in positions in "tied" countries. I used quotes because that is not exactly a tie but it seems like a tie only because of the way the data is shown on the factbook site. They decided to round GDP per capita data to the closest hundred and show the data in that format. But if you take the PPP figures and population (You will have to take then from US Census Bureau since CIA updated the population data for almost every country to 2011 figures), I mean, if you take the GDP (PPP) and divide it for the population and make your ranking with no rounding, you will see that they keep the rank based in the non rounding data. They don't do some alphabetic ordering or same rankings or something like that with the "tied" countries. They just keep their rankings based on more accurated values before the rounding. Note that a country with a GDP per capita of 251 will apear "tied" with some other with one of 349. Actually it hapenned quiet a lot. For example, as you can see on the table below, Somalia had a GDP per capita of 243 and Burundi of 151. They two appear in the ranking as 200, but I'm pretty sure that Somalia should be kept above Burubdi. You just inverted their rankings. Below is a table with CIA GDP (Nominal) and US Census Bureau for the respective year of each of GDPs of CIA list and the values of GDP (Nominal) per capita obtained rounded to the cents. I just converted from the Excel table I used to calculate the GDP per capita.

So, I'll just change that part of "tied" countries and hope you are OK with that. Regards. --201.82.134.33 (talk) 15:49, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List of Occupy/Indignants protest locations

Please do not make such drastic changes such as wholesale removing of the main references. Also the drastic title change. I would say that until October 15 there was no combination Occupy/Indignants protests. I am not sure the new title is justified. I haven't decided. --Timeshifter (talk) 19:37, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Let's move the title discussion to the article talk page: Talk:Occupy/Indignants protests. --Timeshifter (talk) 19:52, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Let's do the citation discussion at the list talk page. I will reply there after you initiate discussion there. Please do not remove the citations until more discussion here: Talk:List of Occupy/Indignants protest locations. --Timeshifter (talk) 20:01, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Occupy protests

The Occupy Protests are a separate movement. You are referring to the Global protests of October 15th, 2011, which the Spanish Indignants are simply one part of. The Occupy protests have been occurring for almost 2 months now. yonnie (talk) 22:27, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Occupy Ashland, Occupy Atlanta, Occupy Austin, Occupy Baltimore, Occupy Boston, Occupy Buffalo, Occupy Chicago, Occupy Portland, Occupy San Jose, Occupy Seattle, Occupy Tokyo, Occupy London, Occupy Canada, shall I go on? This article is about the Occupy protests, not 15 October 2011 global protests. yonnie (talk) 22:42, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter if they are near your cherry-picked locations or not, there is no reason to deny the Occupy movement its own article. Considering that you even admit its a separate movement. yonnie (talk) 22:47, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats on your efficiency in reporting the Gadhafi capture. You beat me and the world too it. Your name will go down in Wikipedia history. Ryan — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.111.142.233 (talk) 11:56, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A coworker of mine was surprised that Wikipedia already had his death; I dug into the history and showed him you had it much faster than he'd anticipated. Good job! -- stillnotelf is invisible 18:52, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

References

15 October 2011 global protests. Thanks for shortening the reference names. See diff. Could you put the references back in alphabetical order in the references section? The name changes mean those references are no longer in alphabetical order by their reference name. It is important in order to find references to edit them anytime.

You said that it was an interesting analysis, and indeed it's fatually true. But what sources does one need to have? I did the numbes myself by applying the formula. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.110.169.129 (talk) 15:39, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm patrolling Wikipedia for possible vandalism. Your edit looked suspicious and was reverted. Pristino (talk) 01:14, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see, sorry for assuming bad faith, but what you did not only violates wikipedia policy, it also didn't revert vandalism. I guess it's too much to ask you type something into the edit summary... like I did... the exact reason for the edit. Either way I can't be bothered with this ever again. 79.223.180.72 (talk) 01:26, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Lists of countries and territories. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Lists of countries and territories - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. DietFoodstamp (talk) 09:33, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Latin America article

There is a map there on the Latin American article supposedly giving the composition of Latin American countries. If it is kept there, so should genetic studies, which are far more reliable. Otherwise remove both.189.6.58.229 (talk) 00:13, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That map is based on Lizcano.189.6.58.229 (talk) 00:13, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No it is not just a map

It has information not based on DNA, but on self perception, census, etc. It contains wrongful information in many instances, if it is to be kept there so must DNA studies.189.6.58.229 (talk) 00:18, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnic composition of Latin America

I'm talking about the real ancestry of the countries. Some people may think of themselves as "white" and "european" and their level of Native American ancestry, f.e, be on the 25% to 40% range, like in so many Latin American countries. So posting the DNA study informing the real of ancestry of the country is much more meaningful than to base it on people who claim to be "white" and yet are like 40% Native American on average f.e.189.6.58.229 (talk) 00:27, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No it is not misleading, misleading is people who are 40% Native American to fancy themselves as European

As I said, the reality, the real deal, is provided by genetic studies, not by what people can think of themselves, especially in Latin America. What looks "white" or not will be always subjective and prone to bias. Genetic ancestry on the other hand is much more objective. 189.6.58.229 (talk) 00:34, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is in relevant in telling what the real composition of the countries is

DNA studies provide the real composition of the country or the individual. If an individual or a country are 40% Native American f.e, and if they consider themselves as "European", they have a right to it, but so let the information be released. If it is about providing information, accuration information should be provided.189.6.58.229 (talk) 00:39, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DNA and ancestry

No it is relevant, if a country is 40% Native American in ancestry, that's what it is, if even if they consider themselves to be a "European country".189.6.58.229 (talk) 00:42, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Help Survey

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

Thank you for your time,

Thanks

For making {{Average height around the world}}. Not only do we have better sources, the fact that it's a template will make the article easier to edit and make it easier for us to spot vandalism on the data. Soap 00:43, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please, use edit summaries, providing a reasoning when undoing somebody else's editions, be it for vandalism or anything else. Thank you. Diego Grez (talk) 17:21, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Pristino

As required, I'm notifying you of an Arbitration Enforcement Request I've made regarding you found at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Pristino. It's come to my understanding that you are the latest sock puppet account of User:Cantus, are still under the restrictions set upon him, and rightfully so because not much has changed.
