This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 5, 2024.

Sir William Parker(1781-1866)

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Jay 💬 09:20, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:RDAB due to the lack of space between the title and the disambiguator. The title with the correct spacing, Sir William Parker (1781-1866), does not exist, and neither do Sir William Parker(1781–1866) or Sir William Parker (1781–1866) (using an en dash instead of a hyphen, which is preferred for year ranges). The result of the discussion was delete. Jay 💬 08:53, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:RDAB due to the lack of space between the title and the disambiguator. The title with the correct spacing, Vishwarubam (2010 film), currently does not exist, though a page at that title that was deleted in 2010. But then again, neither do Vishwarubam (film) or heck even Vishwarubam. And the target of the nominated redirect is neither about a film nor a disambiguation page with subjects by this specific name/spelling. The edit history of the nominated redirect does not make it clear why the redirect was created. Steel1943 (talk) 22:26, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete seems ridiculous even when the base name doesn't exist to have a 2nd qualifier with a malformatted title, although its existed since 2010 its always been a redirect. If a valid article can be created it can be created at the base name. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:47, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible redirect, previously deleted article recreated again - no links to redirect other than from previous AfD/XfDs. User who created this appeared to be creating previously deleted redirects, which is rather concerning Nightfury 20:53, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, the Windsor lines are a physical structure, in three sections: (i) the northernmost four tracks of the eight-track route between Waterloo and Clapham Junction; (ii) the four-track route between Clapham Junction and Barnes; (iii) the two-track route between Staines and Windsor & Eton Riverside. It is not helpful to redirect to a target that has no mention of the subject in question. These redirects do imply that these songs charted, so they may be notable per WP:NSONG. Deletion to encourage article creation may be desirable. -- Tavix (talk) 21:24, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. There is a mention at List of performances on Top of the Pops, but no other details. Jay 💬 14:24, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Multiply Records#53 (though in this instance were the Top of the Pops mention the only one I would !vote to retarget there – it's a common multi-word phrase which renders search results unreadable; the mention is easy to find, being right at the top of a section; and a decent chunk of the time all the reader searching up the song title wants to know is one detail, and we give them two, the year and the band). • Delete I think it's more helpful to have a redlink to encourage article creation than it is to redirect to a mention in a list. Although I like the suggestion of retargeting to Multiply Records#53, I think the user experience of being redirected to a row in a table isn't very smooth or easy on the eyes. - Whisperjanes (talk) 01:06, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Area code 543

The area code in question is not mentioned on the target page. Area code 542, Area code 545, Area code 546, and Area code 547 do not exist, and the page List of North American Numbering Plan area codes lists these and 543 as "not in use" codes. 543 is the only one of the 500s "not in use" area codes other than 555 due to its significance to have a redirect. In that case I believe this redirect should be deleted. 1033Forest (talk) 05:33, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • To be honest, I had forgotten about this item. I created it in 2008 and had not touched it since. I suspect what it was for was a planned area code that had not been assigned, so it was made a redirect to the general list of unassigned area codes until it was assigned, and someone looking for it would be sent to the unassigned page, as opposed to being dumped to Wikipedia's equivalent of a 404 page and, not seeing a mention of that area code as proposed to be used in the future figure the reference was completely wrong, not premature. My thoughts are that Wikipedia is supposed to be comprehesive, and I think having a page for a not-yet-in-use area code redirect to a page on future area codes is more appropriate than landing on the default 'no entry here" page.

Delete per WP:RDAB due to the lack of space between the title and the disambiguator. The title with the correct spacing, Socket F (1207), currently does not exist and probably does not need to exist. The "1207" is in regards to the amount of pins the target article's subject, which is a CPU socket (see Category:CPU sockets), has; similar articles I have found do not have similar redirects targeting them. Eventualism

Delete, unless there is an appropriate local target for this page (which there does not appear to be). The plain {{soft redirect}} template is not used in the mainspace (along the lines of the sentiment expressed at WP:SOFTSP). • Notifying Randy Kryn, who retargeted the redirect, it having used to point to Schizopolis. J947edits 09:11, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the ping. Why not just copy the Meta article meta:Eventualism to Wikipedia: Eventualism? It is a very good page about Wikipedians, has been around since September 2003, and seems like it would fit well here and is already a recognized and well-stocked category (Category:Eventualist Wikipedians). I learned about the term from Econterms, who may have a learned opinion on this topic. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:40, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This term should point somewhere into the actual encyclopedia, not as a cross-namespace or cross-wiki redirect. The only mainspace content it has ever pointed to is Schizopolis, which is clearly not the primary topic, and the article in the history would clearly not survive AfD and could arguably be A7-ed so has no need to be restored. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:41, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's a given that it has to be changed Pppery. What do you think about the idea of bringing the article at the Meta link to Wikipedia WP space and making this a WP link? Is that easily done and allowable with a copy paste along with due credit? I don't think it would get much objection. As for mainspace, any good ideas for an alternate? Randy Kryn (talk) 05:00, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The pre-redirect content cannot be deleted under A7 as it was about a plot element in a film, which is not one of the categories of article that criterion covers. A1 speedy deletion was previously correctly declined and none of the other criteria are relevant. Deletion is not guaranteed at AfD either, given that merging into Schizopolis should be considered. Thryduulf (talk) 11:53, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete it seems to be a philosophical and an artistic concept according to my Google Book search. It's probably better off as a red link until someone more competent in those fields make an article out of it. Alternatively, Weak retarget to Deletionism_and_inclusionism_in_Wikipedia#Scholarly_research were the term is mentioned. --Lenticel (talk) 08:35, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment wikt:eventualism exists, and also has a see-also to wikt:longtermism, which in turn links to our longtermism article. I like Lenticel's retargetting suggestion but I'm also tempted by the redlink to encourage creation about the philosophy - however, I'm not certain that it is a single philosophy but rather a broad concept that exists as part of multiple philosophies. For deletion. It’s not even that the ‘drama theatre’ redirects to an opera house. It’s that there are lots of drama theatres in Moscow. And most, if not all of them, have ‘Moscow Drama Theatre’ as part of their official or most common, descriptive name. (Full name would then be like Yermolova Moscow Drama Theatre, Pushkin Moscow Drama Theatre and so on.) Unless someone reworks this page into a proper WP:D all it will do is confuse editors into linking it like this (the creator of the redirect in question made this edit, not realising that Moscow Drama Theatre under the direction of Armen Jigarkhanyan is all the name of the mentioned troupe. Yeah Russian theatre companies do tend to grow horribly long and hard to handle names for some reason. You don’t see these long names in this category because it’s in English, but direct translations from Russian sources would often have references worded like that. Retarget to Greenland, the Danish part of the Americas. Greenland is the Danish colonial territory in North America, the Danish speaking region of the Americas, thus the appropriate target for such a redirect, such as other colonial territories British America or other linguistic territrories French America. -- 65.92.247.66 (talk) 23:21, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambiguate Is anybody really looking for Greenland when searching "Danish America"? The primary topic here would seem to be Danish colonization of the Americas, rather than Greenland. Hemiauchenia (talk) 23:33, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambiguate per above. Seems to be a reasonale term for multiple pages. Also could include the Museum of Danish America. Respublik (talk) 13:50, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate Given the number of possible meanings here, whether or not they are common, I think its best to be conservative. A disambiguation page will give readers a better chance of finding what they are looking for. Uffda608 (talk) 23:55, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was no consensus. While a numerical majority favor deletion, old CamelCase redirects are a canonical category of appropriate redirects, and no one has given a reason that that general principle should be set aside here. If there is a desire to revisit that global consensus, I would suggest an RfC. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe) 20:24, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. This appears to be a {{R from move}} and/or {{R from merge}}. I think (although the trail is hard to follow) this was the original title of the target article back in 2001 making it a {{R with old history}} too (it certainly exists as a page title on Nostalgia:FrenchLanguageInEnglish, although it didn't have any content on that date (20 December 2001). Thryduulf (talk) 00:50, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep from UseModWiki era of Wikipedia, and the use of CamelCase as pagenames and linktext {{R from camelcase}} -- camelCased redirects were maintained prior to the mid-2000s, and this is such an aged redirect, so grandfathered. -- 65.92.247.66 (talk) 23:57, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as ancient, useless cruft. Yes, this was the title of some content that was (badly) history merged into the history of what is now Etymology, as recorded at Wikipedia:Deletion log/August 2004 (1). But I don't see why that requires it exist in 2023 since all relevant edits exist somewhere in the messy early history of that page so nothing of value would be lost if this was deleted. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:38, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
