Ministry of Economic Affairs (Malay: كمنترين حال إيهول ايكونومي Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ekonomi) is a ministry under the Malaysian government. The inaugural and current minister is Mustapa Mohamed and assisted by his deputy, Arthur Joseph Kurup.[1] The ministry is the youngest in Malaysian government, having formed on 21 May 2018, as part of economic reformation by Prime Minister Tun Mahathir bin Mohamad. Its precursor was Prime Minister's Department Economic Planning Unit, with Abdul Rahman Dahlan being the last to serve the old portfolio until the General Election in 2018, where EPU were dissolved.[2] By January 2019, it was given responsibility in planning future growth for Malaysian economy.[3]
