Ang is described in the Mahabharat as a kingdom in the eastern parts of India.

In the Ramayan, the Ang king Romapad was a friend of Awadh Kosal king Dasharath. Kosal Princess Shāntā, elder to Raghav Ram, lived as the daughter of Romapad, since he was childless. Duryodhan established Karn as the ruler of Ang in the Mahabharat. It is believed that there were many Ang kings who ruled different parts of Ang kingdom, contemporary to Karn. Champapuri was the capital of Ang ruled by Karn. Magadh (south-west Bihar) king Jarasandh gifted another city called Malinipuri, to the Ang king Karn.[citation needed]
