Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Barabanki[3] (JNVBBK) is a boarding school near Sonikpur, Barabanki, India.[4] JNVBBK is funded by the Indian Ministry of Human Resources Development.[5]

History

The school was established in 1992 in the campus of Jahangeerabad Barabanki by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti,[6] an autonomous body that comes under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development New Delhi. Navodaya Vidyalaya was the dream child of late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the ex-prime minister of India. The school shifted to its own 125 acres (51 ha) campus in a hilly area of Sonikpur in 1998.[7][8]

The founder HRD Minister Shri Arjun Singh formatted the school in such a way that it continues to be the Jewel of Barabanki district.

Campus[9]

The school stands on a 125 acres (51 ha) campus near Sonikpur village and very near to Town Haidergarh. The west side of campus has greenery area. The campus has several buildings, the administration block, main class room buildings, laboratory building, workshops, teachers' quarters, students' dormitories, principal's house, guest house, common mess, sports ground, power house, and water tank.

Alumni association[11]

An alumni association is functioning effectively in the Vidyalaya since 2010 with a view to record the 'Social Values' ex-Navodians have achieved.

First alumni was organaised by Ex-Principal Hon. S. Ram (Retd. Ex-Deputy Commissioner, Patna, Bihar & Ex-Assistant Commissioner Jaipur, Rajasthan), PET Sir N.K. Singh, with Students Team: Surya Prakash Verma, Ashutosh Mishra, Hari Kisan Singh, Shashi Rai, Harish, Suryakiran Jaiswal, Lavkush Kanaujiya, etc.[12]

First Sunday of December every year the Alumni Meet is conducted in the Vidyalaya.
