• 29 March - Chris Kempers & Daniel Kovac are selected to represent Germany at the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest with their song "Frei zu leben". They are selected to be the thirty-fifth German Eurovision entry during Ein Lied für Zagreb held at the German Theatre in Munich.
• 8 July - West Germany beat Argentina 1-0 to win the 1990 World Cup at Rome, Italy.

• 8 February - British television sitcom Mr. Bean, starring Rowan Atkinson is shown on British military television on both BFBS and SSVC Television.
• 10 October - British children's animated series The Dreamstone starts airing on British forces television on BFBS and SSVC Television after airing in its country of origin in the previous month. It was also shown on British forces television after the day when the episode "Invisible Blob" was first broadcast in its country of origin as well.
• 12 October - Popular British children's series Rosie and Jim begins on BFBS and SSVC Television after airing in the UK in the previous month of the same year.
• 3 December - British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances starring Patricia Routledge receives its British forces overseas television debut on BFBS and SSVC Television.
