Govitrikar is a Chitpavan Brahmin of Central and South Asian descent, born in Pune, Maharashtra, Western India to Sharad Govitrikar, a pharmaceutical research and development professional and Vijaya Govitrikar, a homemaker. She enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in abundant love with 1 sister – Arzoo Govitrikar and 1 brother – Alpan Govitrikar. Her family neighborhood was surrounded by 8 families, each family with an average of 4 children so there were plenty of friends to socialize. In addition to Marathi, Aditi speaks English, Hindi, some Gujarati and is currently learning German.
She did her schooling at Barns High School in Panvel, was a top student and dreamt of becoming a doctor since nursery. The determination to realize her dream led Dr. Govitrikar to face several hardships including commuting by public transport to coaching classes for 6 hours a day over a year. In 1997, Dr. Govitrikar completed her MBBS and graduated from Grant Medical College in Mumbai.
In 1995, during a weekend gateway whilst in medical college, Govitrikar received a compliment from an aspiring photographer friend about her potential as a model. Eventually Dr. Govitrikar agreed to an amateur photoshoot on his rooftop terrace with his sister acting as a light boy(girl), makeup artist and stylist. This photoshoot led to a meeting with the father of the aspiring photographer, who worked for a leading advertising agency. Upon the fathers feedback a seed was planted that took life and led Govitrikar to audition and walk the ramp in her first fashion show.
In 1996, she was selected for a national Gladrags Supermodel contest, which she won starting off her career as a professional model.
