Andy Anderson (birth name Clifford Leon Anderson) is a drummer, notably for the band The Cure. He was born in West Ham, East London, England on 30 January 1951.

Life and work

Anderson worked on Nik Turner's Sphynx album in 1978. He played with Steve Hillage on two albums, Live Herald and Open, and had a brief stint in Hawkwind in 1983, but did not record with them. His tenure in that group was cut short when he played with The Glove on their first and only album Blue Sunshine.

He later joined The Cure as their drummer in 1983, after drummer Lol Tolhurst switched to keyboard duties. Andy helped record the albums Japanese Whispers, The Top, and Concert. Anderson was, and still is, the only member of The Cure of African descent.

Andy left the band on 17 October 1984 and replaced by Boris Williams during the Japanese leg of the Top Tour. He has since recorded music for TV commercials and recorded music with other bands. Plus many other artists such as IGGY POP, M, THE CURE, JIMMY SOMERVILLE, JIMMY PURSEY‘S SHAM 69, HARRY WILLIAMSON AND FRIENDS, THE GLOVE, GLEN MATTLOCK, BRILLIANT, JEFFREY LEE PIEARCE'S WILD WEED, THE STEVE HILLAGE BAND, CIRCUS HAZZARD, STEVE NEW, EDWIN COLLINS, DAVID PHILIPS INC, NIK TURNER'S SPHYNX & INNER CITY UNIT, MICK HAWKSWORTH AND FRIENDS, ZEKE MANYIKA, THE EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND, LOL TOLHURST’S LEVINHURST, PETER GABRIAL, MIDGE URE, HAWKWIND, ISAAC HAYES, THE LAST POETS, MIKE OLDFIELD and many more. Session Musician, Drum and Synth Programmer, Producer and Tea Boy. In 2010, Andy Anderson posted newly recorded solo tracks on Myspace under the title Prime Data, and also working with a few new up and coming DJ's Liam Scoobyboi Read, Ill-Phil Miller (Ill-Haze) Producer and DJ Matt Inkei Hines all from the stable of ROUGH TEMPO RADIO, which is run and owned by Tq Scoundrel: www.roughtempo.com other contacts for Andy Anderson are: //www.apinkdream.org/viewtopic.php?t=15338]</ref>[1]http://www.facebook.com www.soundcloud.com www.vimeo.com/primedata
